Michael Manley and Edward Seaga were giants. They did not agree on policies but had the utmost respect for the Jamaican people and each other. Each had many faults and were all too human. However, together they helped build a nation.

He was an opportunist who paid gunmen to protect his vote. He divided a nation. Manley truly had the the best interest of JA at his heart, it was a difficult job for any Prime Minister to build their country after independence. The reality was JA along with other nations where left economically crippled given the ven back their nation with debt not a fraction of the billions Britain made off them He also had to deal with The US and the World Bank and the High interest rates the country had to also pay on top of the debt. It was a high order. Sega new this and capatilsed on the nievity of the ppl who blamed Manley for the economic slump in the 70s.

Jamaica has / NO / enemies - however Jamaica has a "Standing Army" with the latest American weapons and transportation
In 2010, over (70) Jamaicans were killed by the (JDF) and (JCF) - the public enquiry was a disgrace -
None of the members of the government / the (JDF or the JCF) took or claimed any responsibility for this disgraceful incident
I suppose that when the prime minister - who was in charge at the tine - passes on - he will no doubt get the same accolade as Edward Seaga
That only goes to demonstrate - that the majority of the population does not have much above the shoulders or between the ears.

What comes to my mind when I think of the former Prime Minister of Jamaica The Most Honourable Edward Seaga ON PC, is that historic moment of The One Love Peace Concert held on 22 April 1978 at the outdoor National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica. This concert was held during a political civil war in Jamaica between two opposing parties Jamaica Labour Party and the People's National Party. Ironically the idea of the concert was from two of Jamaica's notorious Gangsters from rival groups, they wanted to stop the violence, Mr Claudius 'Claudie' Massop (JLP) and Mr Aston 'Bucky' Marshall (PNP), decided that the best way to bring the Jamaican people together was by using music as a uniting factor and organize a major proper peace concert. The concept was a good idea! It so happen that Bob Marley was living in exile in Great Britain in London when that concept was first spok, Massop and Marshall wanted Bob to perform at the concert because they knew that Bob was a very influential person and that most of the Jamaican people loved Bob Marley and they loved his music, Massop and Marshall knew that Bob was a critical element upon which their success depended on. Massop flew to London, to convince Bob to perform at the event. Marley accepted the invitation, he was fearless and he felt that he could return back to Jamaica, he also felt that it was part of his calling for him to do the concert. When Bob Marley went back to Jamaica he got a Hero's welcome. That concert was Marley's first performance in Jamaica since the "Smile Jamaica" Concert held 2 days after he was shot, he was shot in 1976, Bob was shot on the 3rd of December in 1976 and the Smile Jamaica concert was on 5th December 1976. The Smile Jamaica concert was a public concert organised by Michael Manley, Mr Manley wanted alleviate the violence by using the concert to bring unity and Peace to the Jamaican people. I and many people who live in Great places was told that the One Love Peace Concert was the idea of Reggae Ikon Bob Marley but it was not, for many years I did believe that it was Bob Marley who thought up the idea of that One Love Concert, I recently found out by a good Jamaican who told me that it was not Bob's idea, as I wrote earlier on I found out that it was two of Jamaica's baddest bad men idea, those men was infamous and was feared by many people in Jamaica and also feared by many people who live in other countries! Bob call for Peace for Jamaica during the concert. When Bob Marley and the Wailers' were performing the song "Jammin" during that performance of that song Bob spontaneously called on stage the politicians Mr Edward Seaga (JLP) and Mr Michael Manley (PNP) and Bob hold their hands together with his hand above his head as a sign of unity, the crowd was cheering as they saw the hands lifted up and hold up above Bob's head for a little while, he said a short prayer, the prayer was LOVE, PROSPERITY, BE WITH US ALL. JAH. RASTAFARI. SELASSIE! then the crowd started to cheer again, they were ecstatic! It was such a wonderful moment! It made headlines news in Great Britain, it was very big news in Great Britain and the Jamaican people who live in Great Britain was very proud of that historic moment! and even the Jamaican British people and other nationalities of black people who lived in Britain was also very proud of that very important part of Jamaican history that it would leave them talking about it in many years to come! I am not saying that the 5th Prime Minister of Jamaica was perfect, and most Prime Ministers are not perfect! not even the British ones! ( but being a Prime Minister is one of the hardest job in the world to do!) Papa Eddie has done a lot for the country of Jamaica and for the Jamaican people that no other Jamaican Prime Minister that has been elected into office has done! He was a brilliant leader, under his leadership while he lead the Jamaican government he had created so much opportunities for the Jamaica nation! He done so many good things to help Jamaica be a great country, in fact he made it the greatest country in the Caribbean! He was also a great humanitarian to the Jamaica people! Mr Edward Seaga will go down in history as th one of the best Prime Minister of Jamaica! Edward Seaga died on his 89th birthday on 28 May 2019 and a birthday party was held in tribute to him even though he had passed on, the party was held to celebrate the life of the late Prime Minister, the current Prime Minister of Jamaica Andrew Holness was at the party and other dignitaries and lots of other people. My condolences goes out to Mr Edward Seaga family, friends and fans, I will be praying for them in this very sad time of bereavement. Don Seaga lived a eventful long life. Prime Minister Seaga has left behind a great legacy and his legacy will go on long in Jamaica! Edward has done what The Most High God had created him to do and now that his journey has finished may his soul rest in perfect peace. Rest In Peace Sir Edward Phillip George Seaga! WELL DONE 🇯🇲

boss there is alot of spin on this man, especially from the PNP camp, but the truth is revealing little by little by historians, google and books. No politician is innocent, but as they try to make this man look bad, they talk about Seaga and CIA, but now it burst out about Manley and Russia, it also reveal that both PNP and JLP have been fighting for turf as the PNP wanted to control the whole Jamaica, from 1949 a group call 69 try to running out JLP , that they JLP start to enclose themselves, hence tivoli. It was also reveal that guns did not start coming in 1970's as we were lead to believe, back in the 1940s gun was drawing on Bustamante, and Manley was also attack. It was from both parties.

It is a / JOB / for which the are very well paid - they did /NOT do you a favour - They screwed you and have been doing so for over (50+) years.

It’s not the time or place to give you history lesson. It never cross you mind as why there wasn’t any food not the shelves during Michael Manley’s premiership? It is the same thing happening right now in Venezuela! The CIA using their puppet, Edward Seaga, father Eddie, to destabilise the country during the Cold War and also the introduction on 1000’s of guns to overthrow the PNP Incumbent government that was in control of the time. The same thing was tried with Cuba but unlike Jamaicans, the Cubans are more loyal to their country. All I can say is that you should put down the plate and do some research. Try the link, CIA in Jamaica, it might open your mind to what really happened. It doesn’t worth being ignorant and staying ignorant due to labourites brain washing. Seaga is a evil man, the devil himself and him should have died a long time ago. He is so evil That the person who done his Eulogy drop down and died straight after telling lies that he was a good leader. All in death he his still taking life’s. Evil

I have been reading the comments that you have placed on the link since the passing of Mr. Seaga. I do realized you batting for the PNP and you defending them at all cost. I also see that your history is off. I am going to invite to look at the achievement of the following persons: Michael Manley, P J Patterson and Edwards Seaga. Be sure to visit google search and type each name and do a comparison between them with special emphasis on the heading Contribution to post independence Jamaica. Let me know what you think thereafter.

When somebody die, everybody talk good things about them, but I think the bad things should said too. For the truth sometimes they do more bad than good, that have a long term effect on not one person, but many people lives. So I think when people made their comments, other may not understand, some of you are too young to understand anyway.

He who caused so many to have an untimely death had the luxury of dying of natural causes or live out his days at the expense of my brothers sisters Mother's and fathers that turd should be left in a pit to rotten like the hundreds still missing from 1980 elections....

Can you explain - Why Not - I do not go in for hero worship - nor do I subscribe to anyone's personality cult -
As a wanabe public servant - you deeds represent you - irrespective of how nice a person you might have been -
Jamaicans do not understand that - it is what you have done and not who you are - as far as I am concerned - it takes more than one person to build a country - and if that was his intention - how is it possible that the current debt is US$14 million and very many in the population are in a state of hopelessness?
