    In this video, I demonstrate the proper method of repairing a broken turn signal indicator lens. Many of vintage lenses are not available any longer so it makes sense to just repair what you have.

    I used that same mold putty to caulk my fireplace against air leaks. Won't know how well it works until this winter.

    Excellent repair work and I have found the polishing compound with the micro-beads in them work just great! I also thought the comment about blasting cap separation technique to be cutting edge and very innovative. Keep up the good work and it looks like your little bag of mental stimulation herb is almost out!

    Great video, great fun, but I do have a question: After the 180, you get a mold pattern that goes all the way around for the exterior of the lens, this is good, but when you fill the back with putty, how do you keep the inside contour to make the "void"?

    Wonderful repair, Ichiban! I use the same putty. How do you dispose of it? I've had terrible trouble with it reacting with other contaminants in my garbage can (cigarette butts, matchsticks, candle-wax etc). The city are refusing (excuse the pun) to take my garbage after what they term "An apocalyptic event in their incinerator furnace". Any ideas would be gratefully accepted.

    Applying a little heat to the moulding putty can soften it and help it to take fine detail more easily. If you going to use a blow torch then make sure no petrol or oily rags in the area, safety first!
    As an asides I did see a dude at a recent bike run with Ichiban motor tattoo on his arm. Bad ass.

      C4 is fairly safe as explosives go, you need a combination of extreme heat and a shock wave.(ie blasting caps) to set it off. You can burn C4 like wood and even shoot it with a gun and it won't explode.

      As far as I know RDX (The explosive part of Compound C4) has little to do with the Nobel peace prize. The only connection I can make is that it was designed to be more powerful than TNT which was created by Alfred Nobel.

    what resin is that exactly? I as well need to patch/recreate part of a turn signal lens and what ever epoxy putty I tried doesn't work 100% . it either doesn't grip on the lens plastic (like fiberglass) or it's not UV resistant or even not water resistant (like Gorilla epoxy) or or or.

    Is that putty Army C4 Plastique (RDX) explosive? (I know it's safe without a detonator and of relatively low toxicity)
    If so, are you using it because it's cheaper than other synthetic putties?

      It does not stick, and it holds the shape well.
      And, of course, it's cheap and available.
