  • I've been meaning to start this series for a while, and since you all asked for more cinematic content, and more classic cars I thought now was as good a time as any. So please enjoy the first of a new series looking at cars, circuits and sims that are anything but new, but still deserve our attention - starting with one of my favourites, the Porsche 908 in Assetto Corsa.

I had the privilege of attending the ‘69 Le Mans and watch this exact car dice for the last 2 hours with Icks in the GT40, which took its last victory by 0.4 secs.
Now if I could only get my hands on a spider version of the 908 in AC. It was dominant car in ‘69. Thanks for your knowledgeable coverage.

This particular 908 is modelled on the second place car at Le Mans in 1969. I watched the race on live TV. They were overtaking on the Mulsanne straight on the last lap. There has never been a Le Mans like it!

"This Guy" and his movie brought me to my passion for motorsport, when i saw the movie as a child in the early 80s. And in anybody could make a remake of the movie via sim racing, it would probably be you, Chris!

Yey, AC! Nice idea for a series.
I've rediscovered AC in the last few months because of the amazing tracks by FatAlfie (Fonteny, Feldburgring, Deutchlandring, Thomson) and Lilski (Riverside, Bridgehampton). I've curated an install for myself dedicated to the golden era of sportscar racing ('62-'71). Obviously, the Kunos 'carset' of 908, GT40 and 330P4 are a great base of well matched '60s content, even if the P4 and 908 never crossed paths in real life. Throw in the odd Jaguar XJ13 (thanks Mantasig & Aphidgod) and a couple of other 'less legitimate' mods of the era to fill out the AI grid and there's a superbly varied field who's strengths and weaknesses differ on each circuit.
My only regret with Kunos' Porsche pack was that we got the 908LH, which is great for the Monza in game (and 'Le Grand Circuit') but not the 908 Spyder which would better match those competitors on the twistier circuits.
Quick question, if I may - what settings have you applied to Aphidgod's excellent T70 Spyder to get it to play nice with the others?
Very curious to know which other cars and games we'll see in this series.

Thanks! There's no big secret to the look. Shaders patch + SOL on a 4K screen. I am waiting for more to come. Sadly we don't have much opportunity to race vintage race cars (especially touring cars) in simracing. And it's shame. I love driving these cars as it is just so much more fun than in anything modern. The general idea of ballancing these cars on the edge, with old tyres that requires much more slip angle to get cornering speed. It feels like learning to feel the car and understand it instead of trying to be laser precise and remember all braking points with great details.

Your video are really great. AC is still such an awesome sim. So much great mods to choose from, can keep you well occupied.
Edit: what track are you driving at during most of the video?

Drive that baby on Deutschland ring, Riverside (in video), feldtberg or bridgehampton or any other vintage track and man, it is simracing heaven.

Would be cool to go down the line of Porsche’s “prototype” lineage, such as this, the 917s, the 906 from the updated AC Legends GT Classics pack, all the way up to the 919.

I have to try this car again one time and the 917k is nice as well in AC, unlike the Porsche 911 GT1 they totally f-ed up I think. The McLaren F1 in AMS2 is great, both of them. The last time I looked I was still holding the Nordschleife record with both and was a hell of a ride:)

Hey Chris, G’Day from Oz. Lovely work as usual.
Question: How do I locate a text only index of the 260 videos you have created? I am specifically looking for:
    1) Some ideas on your video workflow and techniques, and,
    2) Any input on getting the best out of the new Samsung G9 Odyssey (1000R - late Nov 2020 build) for AC/ACC.
I have two of these and initially was going to use the second for MSFS2020 but got to thinking how would two go with AC/ACC or even 3...
Any thoughts would be most helpful.
    Look after yourselves over there.
    Cheers, Jon ✋️

The Porsche-Ferrari-Ford 60s sportscars class in AC is some of the best single-player sim racing you'll ever find!

Chris Haye, Peter Boese and Ilja Jusupov working together to make me play Assetto Corsa more than every other sim combined, once again.
Nothing against ACC for what it does in its niche, but I wish Kunos could find a business model that made sense to turn AC in a "game as a service" like Counter-Strike, Rocket League or Siege. Its encyclopedic content, its extensive content catalogue would be a massive bummer to leave by the wayside. I've grown accustomed to having the liberty to drive anything anywhere (RSS Formula V12 at Avus? Sure! Lotus 49 at Sveg? Why not!), and I dread the rest of the AC experience becoming as outdated as its user interface.

Please do a video covering RaceDepartment user NiceCuppaTea's 1923 grand prix cars! They are an amazing set of pre-war vehicles, and unlike the Auto Union you have reviewed previously, they're powered by far more reasonable 2-litre engines. While they're difficult to control in that uniquely-antiqued way, the three cars are much more manageable and are good fun to race with; even at their relatively pedestrian speeds compared to newer machinery.

Especially the old turbo race cars like Lotus 98T or the CanAm Porsche 917.

I watched a video you had up quite a while ago regarding getting cinematic shots and I know you said you got a more expensive Xbox controller. My question is, do you think a standard Xbox could give a smooth enough effect for cinematic feel?
