New video day, yay! What do you guys think?
I really love your Line 6 Helix tone videos :)
Dope
I've been waiting for this video, your baritones (pun intended) are absolutely outstanding. And I say this because this is an area that people have trouble with in big name studios (Carpenter, early Meshuggah etc). So you've clearly done your homework here and I'm glad you've shared with us. Thanks man.
Superb!
Great vid man! can you do an adam jones tone with the hx like aenima undertow era
I'd love to see you dial in the stock cabs sometime, just to see the kind of results you can get. I personally like both stock cabs and IRs. I do try to use stock as much as possible, though. I get lost in the OCEAN of IRs I have and end up frustrated more than anything. Eventually none of them sound good and after switching through them all, I don't even know what sound I was going for anymore.
I enjoy your demo riffing more than any other guitar CZcamsr. It's always so chunky and groovy.
Usually don't care for 9 string guitars, but those were some sick riffs! Thanks for the tips with the helix, always appreciated
Still using the presets from one of your older videos in my HX Stomp and I could not be happier. Teaming up with you and Ownhammer/York Audio and including some of those IRs and presets in the helix family of devices would be an inexpensive and absolutely killer move from Line6. No idea why they are still not doing that.
I guess it would mean additional licensing and production costs for their products which will result in raising the selling price and this would mean lower competion power. I do agree though, having IRs from Ownhammer included would make the product so much mire usable. Everyone I know who owns a Helix uses external IRs (bought or free). I have the HX Stomp and have immediately bought OH IRs.
Killing it on the 9 sting!
York IRs sounding very good.
A+
Woah this is it
I've got your principle to keep everything good from beginning (the guitar, string, interface) until the end of chain (the IRs) and I think simplicity is your strong point here
And that detailed explanation of what parameter, to how its affect the tones that we want to achieved, thats gold man!
You're really good at explaining things, and if I'm not wrong you are Dutchman right, your english are excellent
Lesson learned and its time to tweaking
Thank you for doing this Jon!
Nice video as always…great sound of the guitars btw!
owner for years of helix and used ur IR and some tweaks here and there and now I'm in my dream sound, thank you so much dude, I cant belive how much of improvement is really now how I sound omffffgggggggggg
So I've had my own hammer ir packs for a while. Today was the first time I tried the js mic mix and...WOW.. definitely the best mixed IR in the entire folder.
Cool stuff, these settings sound great!
this patch really opened up the sound of my 7 string (which i am new to). thanks a lot - subbed!
look forward to some lead tones in the future
I always love your videos
thank you for the video, really awesome work. was wondering if you recorded all tracks in DI? then added Helix Native Plug in?
I don't have any extended range guitars, but Alex Price recently figured out how to set up a couple Blocks in the HX Stomp so that they act like a Boss OC-5. That allows it to produce "octave down" notes isolated to the lower strings based on frequency. It will be interesting to hear if it can emmulate extended range heavy guitar tones without the need for extra low strings. Thanks
Awesome tones! Awesome tips... And so simple! 🤘😎 Definitely gonna try this out 🤘👍
Thanks! Simplicity is the key!
I totally agree! TBH, I could never get on with the Mandarin Rocker, but after hearing / seeing this, I'm determined to give it another go 🤘
@@conlondf it's a really accurate model of the Orange Rockerverb
I love you man, I just got my stomp today after selling my rocker 15 (also because of your other video)
Your riffs are so sick man
Thanks so much!
Those York audio ir's are worth a while, I use them with my captor x, and couldn't be happier with it. It doesn't requier any tweaking at all.
Awesome video!
Since you review so many Amps, I was wondering which one you would pick if you could only pick one?
So your number 1 Amp for rehearsal, gigging/touring and recording
Sounds great! What tuning did you use for the 8 string
Jon wondering what you think about the Cort KX508Multi scale? This one is crazy fat your playing and without a MS. Looking for an entry 8 and figures a MS is way to go.
I have that exact 7 string and processor so this is perfect for me cheers!
The tones are really cool. Is the guitar connected to an Axe Fx 3 as an audio interface? Because I saw one at 9:48.
What a nice Video! I really enjoy your stuff for the deep Explanations you give on everything you do.
Can you recommend the helix stomp or Any other helix Product for practicing at home. With a speaker and headphones?
Yeah those are all great!
@@SonicDriveStudio thank you very much!
Hi… Line 6 POD / POD GO with EMG Active Pickups? How about you with this setup? Sounds great or nah?
Love that six string tone. Just bought the IR and made it in my new Pod Go. At first I said a 9 string guitar, how stupid. Then I heard the riff and said damn maybe I need a 9 string.
Cool T-shirt ;)
Hi there, sorry I’m a bit late to the party. I just got my Pod Go last week and I’ve tried to completely match the tones you’ve given here. But I can’t seem to get past the noisy high end sound line 6 just can’t seem to get rid of. I don’t hear it in your edits here wondering if you could help me with this. Thank you!
If you still haven’t figured this out by any chance, use a hi cut at around 12.5k sometimes need to go as far as 7/8k
Are you playing your own stuff? If so I really like your riffing and writing style.
You like the fizz, I always tweak them out :P
Hey Jon, awesome tones, are you recording them mono left and right w two different takes and then routing them to a stereo bus?
I usually record one guitar on the left and the other on the right and process them separately. Then I send them to a bus for the low cut
@@SonicDriveStudio very nice, thank you for that insight. That 9 string is just a roving monster! You really know how to bring out the best in your gear. Very impressive as always.
Thank you!
Could you make these presets downloadable?
05:04 -69db on the gate. Nice.
I copied all the blocks he used and set also the gain at -69, I am getting nowhere close to his tone and clarity of the signal. I am doubting now my Apollo Interface if its making everything bad
Did Line 6 ever talked about the inspiration for the Badonk? I thought the 7-string tone was huge, only until I heard the 8-strings one!
It's based on the old Big Bottom amp model. It's supposedly based on a blend between a Rectifier and Rivera amp.
I was always lead to believe it is a model of their own amp, the one they did with the Bogner power section (using the Big Bottom model)...
Love this guy. Can’t tell if he’s Canadian or Scandinavian…
Do a 9 string Emmure / Danza preset. Best Baritone tone imo.
Dear Mr Supersonic 😁
this time I like your ... wait ... 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 ... 9 string song much better! For my opinion there is way more effect to wait until going really down. WHAT A BOMB!!!
Only for my taste 😉
Any free IR’s???
for what the tape on string ?? let me know :(
Are you doing anything pre and post in your Daw??
Nope
Another comment id like to add is that if you dont have a 7 string but want to play those songs on a 6 string, you can use the badonk amp model with the poly capo.... it fully axed my reasons to get a 7/8 string :)
I want Steph's green sparkly 7 string
Me too
Мастер тона!
is someone preparing the files for download? this would be rocking awesome.... 🤘
Hey! Guess you couldn't get them?
Indeed, I do not have the files. I tried to reproduce it, but it sounded different
Ok, thx for the response Alex!
I only came here to hear the tone and This guy's riffs
someone make a compilation of every time he says "awesome!"
That would be awesome
Zware tonen!
No one got the headrush?
I got myself a pod go, it’s alright I guess. I don’t think I’m much of a tweaker. I think once it has a screen, it’s just too much for me.
The thing is, you don't need to tweak a whole lot to get good tones, as this video hopefully shows
9 string sound more likely a bass
