  • Logically Irrational: Music, Math, and More
    Episode 2
How do musicians decide which notes to emphasize? In today's episode, Dr. Allen Yueh will combine logical and intuitive approaches towards figuring out this dilemma, using the first movement of Beethoven's Piano Sonata in E major, Op. 109, as a case study. With a close eye to the score, Dr. Yueh explores the effects of multiple voices, strong/weak beats, and phrasing.
Allen Yueh is an American pianist, Applied Mathematics graduate from Harvard University, and DMA graduate from the Cleveland Institute of Music. Dr. Yueh currently is on the theory faculty at CIM.
