- Let’s face it - there are many remote areas of Utah. What happens when you hit one of those areas and run out of food? Well, how about taking the most awesome 2-hour ride to the grocery store you’ve even taken!
We went into the Bryce Canyon area without being fully prepared on food and quickly found out that shopping at the local mom and pop in Bryce was going to cost an arm and a leg. So once a grocery store was found (in Cedar Springs over an hour and a half away), we quickly searched for the most epic route to get there.

There are apps, Peak Finder, gives you names, elevations and points of sunrise/sunset and times. No more guessing. Just hold your phone up to the horizon and bam, all the info you'll ever need. Thanks for this weeks video.

I was experiancing the same issues with morning condensation. I cut a silver tarp 2 feet wider and 2 feet longer than the top of my camper. I have found that it works fantastic. It keeps the condensation from gathering, and keeps the sun from making the camper too hot. And keeps much more heat from escaping thru the tent roof. Also it is a great safety item, as it keeps any pitch, tar, or stray campfire embers from landing on my roof. I fasten it down with several binder clips. I can not take credit for this idea, I saw it on a couple other campers and questioned what it was. Hope this helps and solves you problem. Dave

You could run old school: pitch a tarp above Ruby. As long as it does not touch it will draw the dew away. And works wonders in the hot summer- double shade- much cooler. Another old school trick- keep a tin of salt(think mid size coffee can) in the tent or whatever. It will pull moisture out of the enclosure. Works in small tents, I haven't tried it in anything larger. Worth a try.

I saw some campers do that up in WA years ago; tied a tarp over the tent on poles (A Frame)
Last time we tented up are your area, I did the same thing: tarp and a box of Morton salt - bone dry!

I will second the tarp over the unit idea. It has been working for us that way for years. Makes a huge difference in both Hot and Cold weather. We first tried it in New Mexico when it was 100+ degrees outside. I carry a Honda 2000 Generator and 5k BTU AC unit in my Aspen. And the tarp made it to where the 5K would do a good job. Otherwise, you couldn't stay in it in the day time without the tarp.
Looking at 2 more inches of snow in March, you are helping me escape! The footage is amazing! Don't know how you are getting those overhead shots, but well done! Ugh! Harley stators! Safe travels and gratitude!

Ah the memories. We were in Zion in 2018 in our RV and loved it. Try driving through that tunnel in a 1 ton duality Ram Pk. Now that’s a tight fit. Love riding with ya guys through the internet

Hey guys. Wife and I rode Zion a few years ago. We are from Nfld, Canada. It was very different for us. However it was so hot we got in early and actually arrived at the gate at sunrise. Free to get in, zero traffic and the clear cool air was completely different from that of an hour later. It was truly a transcendental experience that I will always cherish. Try it sometime, you won't regret it. And come to Nfld, Canada. You will love that too!

Sorry for the multiple comments in a row. I would suggest that you stretch a tarp over the top of the tent with some sort of support to create an air gap between the two layers. It should help immensely.

Stunning scenery, and the 360 video footage is amazing. Would love to travel there (when it's warmer!!). Re the condensation, its mostly from your breathing. Get a dehumidifier, or try not to breathe at night 😁

Great content. Beautiful. It truly is amazing how elevation and time of year make such a difference. Some of my family just got back from southern Utah and Grand Canyon. Hotter than Haddies. Bod and I are in the Hocking Hills area of SE Ohio this week. We are having some pretty hot weather so far. Stay safe.

The scenery is so beautiful in that part of our country, not that it is not beautiful here in New England but I have lived here all my life and love seeing something different.
Got to take my daughter on a ride to the west coast last year and we hiked angels landing......wow so beautiful.
Interesting how you and others view this or the whole living on a bike thing. A ridiculous thing or an adventure full of love and learning together
As nice as your bikes are, mine has a feature that makes it outstanding. As we (we, being the bike and me) approach a place that serves good coffee, good apple pie, good hamburgers, or chocolate ice cream - the bike slows, and beyond my control, it turns right in, pulls up, and shuts down. One shop mechanic said that he could fix that. His memorial service was nice.

Ok. Get rid of the fan. Put you heater in 1 end of the tent & 1 vent on at the other end. Your heat has to travel across the tent slowly for the gas to escape. Should keep you dry, you need a rain fly. Don't have 1? Get a tarp. Be ok. Back to the video!"🤣

Oh God! Been there in October with a Buddy heat and had the same thing! Woke with snow on tent camper and motorcycle! Same issues in Wyoming headed home when I lived in ND

Chris would be able to connect and record if her riding gloves were not FROZEN to the buttons! Sorry, I'm not a fan of freezing to death. It's beautiful but I like Chris's comment that beauty can be a double edged sword, or something to that effect. Way to stick with the heater Rich. I have one of those, but its the backup system for our tent camper. That being said, your footage was absolutely stunning (again)! Thanks for sharing.

Kolob Canyon is definitely a must do especially for anyone traveling from Cedar City to St. George. It isn't that far off the beaten track to go see the beauty of the area. Also, if you are in St. George, head west towards Ivins and take a drive through Snow Canyon State Park. It is a beautiful state park.

I have a new toy hauler and the new a new dually, toy hauler for permanent living but I have goldwing and my deluxe tent camper trailer that I prefer to use for traveling and camping! Which has ALWAYS been much easier to find great PLACES to camp anywhere!
@@TwoWheelsBigLife I plan to have everything paid of by the time I retire! While taking as many trips on goldwing and tent camper as possible! Biggest trip once border opens up and covid-19 crap really settlizes down is ride back through Canada to Alaska!
We bring a lot of freeze dried food for when we don't want to shop. Came in handy when we were in the Everglades and a grocery store was a long long ways away. The food doesn't take up much space and is light.
We bought a new Airstream and it was very cold outside. I had the gas heater going and that night I felt water dripping on me,,,(and it wasn't raining,,,so not a leak). I switched the light on and it was literally raining inside the camper!!!! We never completely solved it, the walls were always wet.

Hi guys. If I tent camp in the cold, I drape a emergency reflective blanket above the bed.

I loved riding through that tunnel. Only problem is that I wanted to stop at all the cutouts and look outside!
Not sure if this was mentioned, but hang a cotton towel or two above you when it gets below freezing. - it will help absorb the moisture from your breath and stop indoor condensation.
YEP!!! You don't want to get hot and sweaty so you freeze so fast as you step outside. Just like Ruby's top freezes just a thin layer of ice.
On the Buddy heater... I learned the hard way... it's the sensor tube builds up some moisture inside rendering it useless. I have my Buddy heater has the same problem. I'm being stubborn and refusing to replace the sensor this time. I'm going to try taking the sensor and it's tube off and heating the tube as evenly as I can attempting to cause the moisture to expand and hopefully to get it out of the tube at the time. lolol

We have to do that on our sailboat all winter use an absorber towel and when mold starts use vinegar and water to wipe down
Bryce is most do-able late June-early September. As is north AZ/Utah/grand canyon etc. Check out candle heaters. They work better than you would think, and are a source of dry heat.

Another fantastic video. Hope you looked into those air activated stick on your body warmers. One around the back of the neck helps take a bit of the chill off. Is it hard to edit the 360 degree video footage? Looks awesome, just wondering if it is more involved then the other cameras for changing viewing angle in the editing process. Hope to see you make your way through the Columbia Gorge someday. Hwy 14 on the WA has some stunning views.

Stayed at watchman campground for four days this summer
When skiing I use to regularly over night in ski area parking lots. Over the years I have use a wood truck canopy, aluminum truck canopy fiberglass truck canopy, truck camper, and a travel trailer. I have use no heat (just a very good sleeping bag and pad), a propane heater similar to your Buddy Heater, a RV furnace (old natural convection furnace, no fan) and electric space heaters (with an available electric connection.) My worst condensation problem was with an aluminum truck canopy.
There are a few ways to reduce the condensation problem.
> As Richard stated insulate better would help. As he also implied there is a weight and bulk problem that make that impractical.
> Use a heat source that doesn't produce moisture. Electric heaters don't produce moisture. But this isn't practical for you unless you are in a campground and site with an electric connection.
> Use a heat source that exhausts the combustion exhaust/ moisture outside. Someone else suggested a diesel heater. The advantage of these diesel heaters is that their exhaust air and heating air are separate. The exhaust air and the related moisture is directed outside. But you have the diesel smell in camp. Considering Richard background I suspect that you could find a small ducted RV furnace. Build an enclosure for it to be placed outside of Ruby. Then with flex duct connect the return and heated air to inside Ruby. You could also only connect the heated air supply duct to Ruby. Connecting both duct would be more fuel efficient. But connecting the heat supply duct only would be dryer.
> The easiest solution is to not even try to keep the insides of Ruby warm. Fully vent her to prevent moisture build up from breathing. Just improve the sleeping bag and bag heater(s) to stay warm while sleeping. (Bad idea. This is like going back to the tent.)
When I had the aluminum truck canopy my solution was a very warm sleeping bag and a decent sleeping pad. When possible I maximized the amount of ventilation. I couldn't fully vent it when it was raining or snowing.
Having a heater with a fan distribute the heat more evenly. That is why my most comfortable skiing solution was the travel trailer with an electric space heater.

3 things you do not want to run out of in Utah, gas, groceries, and adult beverages!!
Moisture in your Bunkhouse, have a custome fly built to drape over your sleeping/living quarters for those cold nites. The air gap will prevent the condensation. That's what makes the Airctic Oven tent work so well.
Suggestion on the humidity , pass air thru a desiccant filled canister. Amazon carries 1 gallon containers of blue desiccant . Indicating Blue silica gel beads will change to Pink when 50-60% absorbed with moisture Beads can be Reactivated by drying in oven.
In regards to the moisture on the roof, you would be surprised how much insulation a tarp on the out of the roof makes a difference. Use to do it on our boat in cold weather, makes a huge difference.

The daughter of Ruby's Inn was a patient of mine years ago, so I learned too love that wondrous place. Some of the most awesome night's of my life were spent in the canyon in January 👍

When touring on a motorcycle it is not uncommon to see Pillsbury dough boy people riding them bikes. Been there done that one, which is also why only the sturdy and brave ride motorcycles on long range touring year round. You two are champs by now
Maybe this is a repeat but….. you know a lot of people think that what you are doing is very exciting, very cool, my wife and I included. You ought to somehow (for a worthwhile fee) have other motorcyclists stay with you for a set time, like 5 weekdays or a weekend. You tell them what they will need (tent, stove, gear, etc.) then they learn how you are doing this “Live off the back of your motorcycle thing.” Kind of like the guided motorcycle trips, but motorcycle living insights, day tours and just what you put in the videos. One or two at a time, responsible for themselves and their bikes and gear, they just have a however many day seminar. And then sightseeing riding tours.
I don’t know if I am clear on my idea, and obviously it’s not completely thought out. But a little enterprise as you travel and huge fun for those who stay with you two.

To bad we missed you guys. I’ve been following yous tous for a bit and saw that you were in Utah around the same time my wife and I were traveling from Santa Barbara to Huntsville, Utah then back to Santa Barbara via Vernal (not a planned stop and long story), Green River, Bryce Canyon and Zion.
I would definitely like to know if towing a trailer behind your RoadGlide wears your brakes, clutch and or other parts on the bike faster if anything?
One day hopefully we shall cross paths. I am definitely thinking about purchasing a camper/trailer like yours and travel the US of A. 🇺🇸

I completely can understand visiting some other places no so crowded. Seven years ago my wife and came to say conclusion after two rather miserable nights in a very over crowded camp

Usually the North Rim area is lesser visited than Bryce...usually. ;)
