  • CP Rail on former Dominion Atlantic rails in Nova Scotia hauling gypsum trains on what was spun off to become Windsor & Hantsport Railway. SW1200RS units and vans were the rule of the day in these scenes from 1990. The 45 ton GE switcher of the Fundy Gypsum Co. is also seen serving the plant at Hantsport.

This is wonderful! I lived in Nova Scotia for 10 years and caught a little of the Windsor and Hansport but sadly no video, thanks for bringing back some memories !

nice vid... first glance one would think those little things can't pull nothing but they are surprisingly pretty good pullers

Not sure why anyone would think that 1200 hp and 90 tons 'can't pull nothing'. GM adapted these 1200 hp SW1200s into 100 mph passenger locomotives for service in Ireland in the 1960s.... those could haul!

Gorgeous! Beautiful camerawork and editing. An ordinary workday for men and machines on lovely summer day in a lovely setting on our beautiful planet, somewhere in time... (I'm guessing mid-1980s.)
So glad I found your channel, fmnut. Tons of enjoyment for me in this few months since I first saw your stuff...even better than VHS and DVDs of days of yore. Praise You Tube!

As stated in the description, the video is from 1990, but would be typical for the 1980s also.

Great video! This is/was the remains of the old Dominion Atlantic, which is sadly no more. I've been looking for video of the line in this time period, with little success until now. Do you have any more, by chance?

I have a 2 hr DVD of the final three weeks of passenger operations on the DAR. I didn't film it. Working on convincing an older railfan to let me digitize his collection of videos. Lots of DAR and W&H apparently.

Maritime Railfan Any updates on that?

The old "wasp-waisted" DRS12b's of the DAR…8131-8140. Gone but not forgotten.

The title is incorrect. It should be "CP gypsum trains on the Dominion Atlantic", as the W&H was created in 1994. That being said, great video and thanks for sharing.

I titled it that way so younger fans not familiar with the DAR could relate to the location. Thanks for your comment.

The videos on my channel I shot myself. The old films and slide shows are from a variety of sources.
