  • Because of the expiry of the current line inspection certificate the last two locomotives (LLPX GP15-1 1504 & CBNS SD40-2 3366) to be serviced at the Sydney Shops had to be moved by Saturday 15 August 2015. The move began unexpectedly early on Friday about 5:30 am. There were many slow orders and the average speed was about 10 mph. Many of the local residents waited to see the last train on the line to St Peters Junction and Port Hawkesbury.
The HD video shows the journey along the Bras d'Or Lakes near Christmas Island, waiting at Grand Narrows for the bridge to close, crossing the bridge to Iona, passing MacInnis Pond along the barachois, crossing Ottawa Brook trestle. Then we see a crowd of people including children waiting at Orangedale station before the train passes River Denys, West Bay Road and McIntyre Lake. The tracks are partially overgrown and there is a wide variety of colourful wild flowers.
