- I took EuroNight sleeper train from Zürich HB to Praha hl.n. I travelled aboard České dráhy's (Czech Railways) sleeping car. During the journey we have visited 4 countries and crossed the Alps. We took a route via Buchs - Innsbruck - Salzburg - Linz - České Budějovice.

Wow Petr this looks amazing. The same as the NightJet pretty much but at a more reasonable price. With the added bonus of being able to roam about to the dining car as well.

Another pretty comprehensive post Pete I really enjoy your sleeper train travels, they give me the best options on which sleeper cabins to stay in and the best routes to plan a holiday, I’m coaxing my wife to do a tour of 2 or 3 countries in Europe and use the sleeper trains to get from one place to the next, big thumbs up

What a great video!! Congratulation! This is in my opinion the main purpose of night trains: connecting cities with trough cars. Even if breakfast is provided, this is very precious to have the possibility to go maybe even for breakfast in the dining car. I am looking forward discovering other interesting trains! Continue! 😊

Jaysus sweet lord, imagine the Swiss getting on the train just to get pissed for cheap, haha. I'd love to have a Pilsener for 2.10€. in Ireland, it costs 3.50€ in a shop! a regular shop. Great video! thank you!

Those sleepers look solid. Was the ride smooth and quiet (other than noisy neighbors)? The many selections on the menu are amazing!
Yes, the ride was quiet and smooth. Those Siemens sleeping cars are very well designed and have bogies with air suspension.

Hezký video lajk, ještě dobrý jak jsi tam prošel ten Jižní expres, čtyři vagóny na Jižňák je opravdu ostuda (lůžko z Curychu nepočítám).
Díky moc! Naštěstí ten první ranní spoj není přes Rakousko tak vytížený.. Mělo by jezdit celkem jen 5 vozů, je to kvůli délce nástupišť v některých stanicích v Rakousku. Jinak v Budějovicích jsme dostali ještě posilové B209 (a díky tomu jsme pak neměli možnost zkrátit zpoždění, protože V=max 140 km/h :-D)
Jsem si vždycky říkal, proč na těch Jižních expresech jsou občas ty lůžkové vozy, tak teď už to vím... :D
Ano, je to přímý vůz do Curychu který jezdí jižní cestou.

@Pete Brandy I'm thinking of basing in Vienna, is that Vienna to Bucharest night train always full? I was thinking of Kiev from Vienna, but I read that one is always booked. So I may do Bucharest

Ahoj, moc mě tvá videa baví, obzvláště ty spací vlaky, ale jen jsme se chtěl zeptat - prof jsi vlastně odešel od natáčení letů, a natáčíš vlaky? Jak říkám, jen mě to zajímá.🙂🚃
Ahoj! Díky moc! Tím jak byla několik let velmi omezená nabídka letů z Prahy jsem začal také využívat vlaky s tím, že budu na kanále mít jak letecká, tak i vlaková videa.. ale vlaky měly mnohem větší úspěch a navíc mi propadly všechny nalétané výhody u aerolinek (míle a statusy), takže bych musel s létáním začít opět od nuly. Letos jsem sice letěl letadlem, ale ani jsem z té cesty nedělal video :-D

Hi great video did the train go past linz and the summerauerbahn or did it go over vienna? I wanted to spot it in Freistadt but the train didn't come😢
Hi, thanks :-) The train is divided into 2 parts at Linz Hbf, the MÁV portion continue along the Westbahn towards Vienna, the ČD sleeping car then run together with the EC330 towards Summerau. However, it may happen that the sleeping car is missing, due to construction work between Innsbruck - Salzburg, the euroNight train sometimes arrives to Linz too late, so the EuroCity to Praha is not waiting for it, then this sleeper car is waiting for another train to Prague (which I think departs 4 hours after EC330).
Just a note about your breakfast (20:10). You say you went for the sweet option "of course" but it's worth knowing that a healthy breakfast must contain lots of proteins and little in the way of sugar. So...
By "of course" was meant that I like sweets (my regular viewers know) :-D
Skvělé video! Nevím, jak dlouho plánuješ ještě natáčet, ale má se modernizovat Zlínská trať, plánuješ se tam pak podívat, až to bude hotové?

Like, budou někdy i vlaky IDSJMK S8 (Břeclav - Znojmo), S52 (Zaječí - Čejč - Hodonín) a S91 (Hodonín - Strážnice - Velká nad Veličkou) ještě pod ČD?
Díky! Břeclav - Znojmo bych chtěl ještě stihnout pod ČD, jen škoda že už tam asi letos nebude vůz Bmx, ty ostatní netuším, to záleží jestli budu mít tudy cestu
Jo Zaječí-Hodonín je úplně super,s tou tratí je dost sranda,je rozbitá a hodně to na ní klepe a poskakuje,jede to nádhernou jihomoravskou krajinou,někdy i kolem vinic a taky by tam ještě pořád měl být původní koženkový přípojný vůz,jenom trochu upravený na kola,v modro žluto bílém nátěru
Břeclav-Znojmo je taky zajimava,tam jsou cestou Hrušovany,které mají mechanická návěstidla, Strážnice sice taky,pěkná trať,krajina,ale strašné vozidlo-regionova

Does the train pass through Bavaria between Innsbruck and Salzburg or does it stay in Austria the whole time?
It normally runs through Germany between Innsbruck and Salzburg, but due to construction work in this section, night trains take a diversion route via Zell am See
How much does this trip cost, and did you buy the tickets online?
Out of all the sleeper cars you took, which one (from what railway operator) impressed you the most as being modern and comfortable? No matter the price
I think this type (WLABmz Comfortline made by Siemens) is currently the most comfortable and also still modern. ČD also operated newly modernised WLABmee coaches, but these are not so comfortable.

If you mean the bistro car, the menu is the same as in classic restaurant cars, only restaurant cars on Prague - Berlin - Hamburg have higher prices when run in Germany.

Yes, because there was only limited selection in sleeping car .. and schnitzel was sold out :-D
Didn't you find it annoying to have the locomotive right next to the sleeping coach?
Fortunately the loco was at the other end of the coach :-D
@@PeteBrandy i travelled from Szczecin to Krakow a couple of weeks ago with the loco right up front. It was very annoying, the acceleration/deceleration, honks. Horrible :))
@@CalinFR Yes, Poland is very specific with style of driving a loco.. I have the same experience from IC Chopin night train, I didn’t fall asleep 😀

Ale škoda žes pořádně nenatočil modernizovaný IV. koridor.
Musel jsem to trochu zkrátit, protože původně to mělo skoro 45 min :-D Ale právě kvůli tomu koridoru jsem v létě vydával Rychlík Vltava, kde mám celý ten nový úsek natočený ze zadních dveří vozu.
I feel the Nightjet doesn't worth the money. MAV, CD and ICCc have way better accomodations available
This was a ČD sleeping car and ÖBB has exactly the same cars and I think these coaches are one of the best sleepers. Btw. all WLABmz coaches are from one Comfortline series manufactured by Siemens Maribor - 12 coaches for ČD and 42 coaches for Deutsche Bahn, the coaches from Deutsche Bahn were then bought by ÖBB for Nightjet services. However, ÖBB has also other types of sleeping cars (double-decker) and many couchettes.

I recently tried the CD WLABmee from Bud to Prague and found the beds really stiff and uncomfortable. As far as I know WLABmz type are a bit of an older version. Wondering if the cushioning is better there? In the video at least it seems pretty comfy.
Haha, yes, the WLABmee are not comfy, there were rebuilt on basis of Bmee 2nd class coaches produced by Waggonbau Bautzen..
the menu card offer a lot of things and very cheap prices, like very much. Opterated by Czech I think so, if operated by CH 10x much more

Ursprünglich wollte ich auch mit dem Zug über Deutschland fahren, aber der war ausverkauft, also habe ich diesen genommen :-)
@@PeteBrandy der Zug Zürich Prag über Leipzig ist jeden Tag verspätet, Katastrophe der Zug 😕 viele wagen fehlen , Bort Restaurant und Liegewagen fehlen immer.
Sehr sehr voll in Frankfurt wird der Zug fast jede Nacht von der Polizei geräumt, weil kein Platz mehr frei ist.

I was about to drop you a great comment on your last trip report, dang it I clicked the "cancel" button then everything I wrote went disappeared Forget about that by the way. Well, this is a full "Yes" list shown by a sleeper train as compared to the previous trip report which only missed one "Yes" to be considered as fully listed with Y. For me, I think this is one of the most internationalised trainsets that you have ever taken as I recon with coaches from four different countries although they split in the mid-journey. Great is that they provided a better-locking door unlike the earlier night trains being reviewed by others previously. A great review you got here and don't wander too long outside the station.
