Find Summertime by Billy strings and Marcus King. Then play Lonesome Fugitive by the same so you can hear Marcus sing. It's the classic Summertime from Porgy and Bess. Gershwin maybe wrote it Those 2 names god willing will be here for our ears for years to come.

Bluegrass musician here, just gotta say I love how new people are getting into Bluegrass because of Billy. Thanks for doing this and showing this music to a new audience, even if you don't realize it just watching this stuff and posting it on your channel does so much for our genre and helping the music get out there and taken seriously. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you and I'm glad you love bluegrass.

The fabulous Billy Strings. The finest bluegrass guitarist around. At home with Doc Watson and Jerry Garcia. And his fantastic band with 3 terrific lead players. Leading us all into the future with Peace, Love and Understanding. Looking backwards and into the future with songs of joy, grace and love. Billy can play like no other, write visionary songs, sing and lead this great band and help restore our souls and country. God bless Billy Strings and the band. May they all have a really long run. Never enough talent, energy, love and vision in this world. A Billy Strings concert can change your mind on where to head. For all of us. We are all in this together. One Earth. One People.

One of the things that ties it closely to the jazz world, along with the focus on structure, which allows for improvisation. Garcia, for example, was incredibly well versed in both, which allowed him to shine in rock and roll and roots music like no other. Billy definitely takes inspiration from Jerry, and pays hommage to him on the regular.

Billy Strings is damn good. But if you listen to whom I think were his inspirations check out Chet Atkins and Doc Watson. if they were 20 somethings in this day and age, they would be chart toppers as they were in the 50s and 60's and part of the 70s. I suggest checking out a record they made together called "reflections".
    Absolutely Beautiful.

The most exciting young talent to come along in a while! Thankfully, he's not alone, especially in this genre of music! Billy does some absolutely killer Grateful Dead covers, and he's got the proper respect and reverence to do them! He also did a number of shows with Bill Kreutzman, "Billy and the Kids" over the summer, and they are killer! Get you some of that, for sure! I don't think I've ever heard you do any String Cheese Incident, well here's a scorcher with Billy sititng in......Black Clouds czcams.com/video/yKrxPnffGWw/video.html

Check out the band Railroad Earth. They are one of the great unknown bands. From Wikipedia Railroad Earth is a bluegrass-influenced Americana band formed in Stillwater, New Jersey in 2001.[1] The band's music combines elements of progressive bluegrass, folk, rock, country, jazz, Celtic and other Americana influences. Recognized as "carrying on the tradition of improvisational, genre-spanning music laid forth by the Grateful Dead," Railroad Earth is known for lyrical songwriting and extensive live improvisation.[1] The band takes its name from the Jack Kerouac prose poem "October in the Railroad Earth".[2][3] The band also has a song of the same name.
