When Billy was growing up, his Dad couldn't pay the electric bill so he sold his guitar to pay it, years later billy ran across it on an auction site, he bought it and gave it to his Dad. His Dad had tears in his eyes. I respect Billy

I first saw/met Billy in 2015 when he played our local jail. We run a series for the inmates to reward achievement and to broaden culture. Billy came back in 2016 and would have been again in 2020, if it wasn't for COVID. He is a humble dude who shared his personal journey to bring hope for those that could use it. This guy is the real deal...
The guy is just something else. It’s so great seeing bluegrass coming to the forefront again. But the thing with Billy is how unique he and his band are. His bluegrass background, with a mix of his love for metal all tied together with some psychedelic madness. How can you not absolutely love it??

It was amazing to watch him transform my Dad’s guitar he made in prison to a beautiful work of art and making the strings on that electric make music and sing again! Love me my Billy and the Boys. mys on April 3rd, 2022. He has been invited to perform on the live Grammy show. Billy and the. Oys are also nominated for 2 Grammys.
One of the things that ties it closely to the jazz world, along with the focus on structure, which allows for improvisation. Garcia, for example, was incredibly well versed in both, which allowed him to shine in rock and roll and roots music like no other. Billy definitely takes inspiration from Jerry, and pays hommage to him on the regular.
TRUE STORY TIME 😆.. I discovered Billy Strings when my ex who is in prison for Dust in a Baggie showed me Dust in a Baggie.. The man and his issues had to go but Billy Strings got to stay 😄.
I just discovered Billy Strings last year. I really enjoy his bluegrass country style. He is a very good guitarist. Love the instruments that his touring band uses banjo, upright bass & mandolin. The first song I heard was "Turmoil & Tinfoil". Also liked "Dust In The Baggie" & "Watch It Fall". I recently saw a live performance with Billy & his dad playing guitar together on stage that was really good.
I was at the Norfolk VA show last weekend. Listening to an album or individual songs on CZcams doesn't do justice to what happens at Billy's show. It's on another level.
I found him a month or so ago, but haven’t heard this…it’s fantastic ! I love bluegrass (that Scottish/Irish heritage), but this takes it to another level. So glad that you appreciate it!

This is the song my friend wanted me to hear when he first told me about Billy Strings. Bluegrass is part of my Appalachian heritage. My mom was from Kentucky, grew up in West Virginia, and eventually married my dad. I grew up on Bluegrass and Country music.

Entire LP "Renewal" is fantastic and takes some new directions for Billy. The RedRocks shows this summer with Billy and the Kids are also epic, but just seeing BMFS and his band will change your perspective on life, and maybe your life itself. I haven't said that about a single artist - not since a guy named Garcia and his band(s) changed me forever.

Just played Renewal in the truck today, but IMO, all the albums, plus the EP are equally as good....but i have a preference for Turmoil and Tinfoil... I bought it at the merch table when i first saw them in 2018....played the heck outta that CD!

I think you would like the video of “enough to leave”. My best friend went missing about the time I was buying a new guitar and was really starting to get into Billy Strings. A week later, we found him dead. I tried so hard for a year, to play this song as a tribute to him. Very different from what Billy wrote it about, but we were both hurting. I finally got through it, recording it for a few friends of my buddy. Meet me at the Creek, is fire. Enough to Leave, will break your heart.
I’m seeing him next Friday and Saturday and I’m so excited man. I’ve seen him a handful of times the past few months and everytime he blows my mind. It’s hard to fully grasp the experience through videos but it’s a good look into it for sure!
I saw him do an acapella of "man of constant sorrow" plus he did Red Daisy for the first time that night. Enjoy those shows before he becomes an arena act.

Billy Strings is damn good. But if you listen to whom I think were his inspirations check out Chet Atkins and Doc Watson. if they were 20 somethings in this day and age, they would be chart toppers as they were in the 50s and 60's and part of the 70s. I suggest checking out a record they made together called "reflections". Absolutely Beautiful.
The most exciting young talent to come along in a while! Thankfully, he's not alone, especially in this genre of music! Billy does some absolutely killer Grateful Dead covers, and he's got the proper respect and reverence to do them! Wow incredible video,the thing about bluegrass is it seems like every musician is incredibly talented!
Billy Strings is damn good. But if you listen to whom I think were his inspirations check out Chet Atkins and Doc Watson. if they were 20 somethings in this day and age, they would be chart toppers as they were in the 50s and 60's and part of the 70s. I suggest checking out a record they made together called "reflections".

The most exciting young talent to come along in a while! Thankfully, he's not alone, especially in this genre of music! Billy does some absolutely killer Grateful Dead covers, and he's got the proper respect and reverence to do them! He also did a number of shows with Bill Kreutzman, "Billy and the Kids" over the summer, and they are killer! Get you some of that, for sure! Yep, I’ve thought the same thing as I’ve had surgery on both hands due to carpel tunnel. And I had trigger finger on my left hand. So I’ve often thought that with guitar players. Enjoyed that so very much! Thanks!
