This song was recordit 1971 but was release 1972 on album "Elvis Now "......
This was originally sung by Ricky Nelson. Interestingly, the same man, James Burton, played lead guitar on both recordings.

Just another get song by Elvis. There is a video that shows clips of his movie & it's fun to watch & listen too.
Love this song, it is such a lovely song to drive on a summers day with no where in particular to be. I actually always presumed it was a movie song, I had never checked but wow it is a Nashville recording from 1972. Great choice of song and lovely reaction as always.

When it comes to the king you always give him such great respect that he deserves special that voice so unique there never be another one liking that voiced the books I don't even think the movie really after I said I loved it so I do and I don't after I got over the initial feeling like I was at an Elvis concert and I began to see the parts that I didn't like so well even though it was a true story I'm pretty sure but Austin Butler did a fabulous job but I understand why the show had to be put like cartoonish just some ways because so many of the people are dead and that was only way they could give those that were gone already except for like Sonny Smith there was Elvis's first cousin on his mother's side he said well at least they gave me recognition it was going to be damned if it day did and damned if they didn't the people that were still living that which was very few Jerry Schilling is and then all of the stuff now that's going on to put a damn it damage on the only thing that Priscilla headlines more than Elvis was Lisa Marie and then all this greed money tip stain them Priscilla can't live forever and the oldest granddaughter probably can't be there for the younger twin granddaughters but I hate to see Priscilla raked over the coals because of it wasn't for her wrestling would not be there today his fans need to realize that Lisa Marie was busy living her life and going through her and inheritance and her mother was helping her out some too so I know it's a family problem but I just hate to see the Presley name gets slandered. If not for Priscilla keeping GRACELAND going there would be no problem for them to yo fight OVER. A.k.a.ELVIS JUNKIE

Nice reaction John to a great record and smooth performance by Elvis . You may be interested to know the previous big seller of this was Rick Nelson in 1963 and the guitarist was again James Burton so he knew the riffs rather well. The song was first performed in 1940 by Bob Crosby and his orchestra the lesser known brother of legend Bing Crosby..

This sounds almost like a new remix. It sounds different then his original one. I’ll have to check it out. I bought your song Faded and I love the beauty and simplicity of both the words and music but I love your guitar instrumental (acoustic version too) you play the guitar so well and it’s a joy to watch and listen. My husband plays bout acoustic and electric for over 40 yrs now, starting as a kid and is always looking for a new song or sound. Was that really James Burton? The arrangement and vocal sounds like early/mid 60s. If such Elvis and James didn't work together til '69.

This is gonna sound strange, but I don't believe I've ever heard Elvis' rendition of this song. I have always heard and loved Ricky Nelson's version (not so say I didn't enjoy this one), but Ricky's version is perhaps more upbeat and played a bit faster. Learn your Rock and Roll history in one short lesson here from an old man😂: Ricky Nelson did this one first around 1963. This is an old Big Band song from the 1930's . Ricky knew these songs because his parents Ozzie and Harriet had a big band [Harriet was the singer] back in the day. Rick's producers doctored the song up with a new arrangement to sound "modern" with a faster tempo. I think Ricky's version is a little better, it has better percussion, bass, etc. and lead guitar and drive. Rick and Elvis became buddies when Elvis came out to CA to do movies. This is practically a carbon copy of Ricky's record except for Elvis' voice. I'm guessing Elvis did this on an album out of respect or a nod for his pal. Incidentally, James Burton was the lead guitar player on this, in 1972, as well as Elvis' stage band, and Burton was also Ricky's lead guitar player for years and played on his version first.
