He has another movie coming out next month called Ordinary Angels. From Angel Studios, the same ones that put out Sound of Freedom. Starring Ritchson and Hillary Swank. He plays the father of a young girl afflicted with cancer.

Ok…this is finally a movie for me!
The director of Operation Fortune and the Man From UNCLE, the producer of Top Gun: Maverick, and the Stars of Superman and Reacher sign me up!
That trailer legitimately made me smile like an idiot. I didn’t even realize I was doing it until your second play through. Henry Cavill is one of the few people in Hollywood that doesn’t seem insufferable. I feel like he should have been in a dozen more movies in the past 10 years. And I don’t think his anemic filmography is the result of him being super selective; I think there aren’t a lot of roles for clean cut, competent white dudes. Forgive me if this sounds incredibly gay, but Cavill is borderline perfect. He’s like the guy you want to be. Hollywood wants every character to be effeminate, ineffectual, amoral, neurotic, or all of the above.
Even when he does get roles, it’s like they’re consciously playing off of his straight-laced, Boy Scout demeanor by casting him as a villain or making a spy movie spoof like that Argyle thing. The whole idea that Argyle is so perfect he HAS to be a fictional character.
“No one that good, confident, and charismatic could actually exist movie goers! Don’t bother aspiring to be better, folks.”
That feels like the message.
At least Guy Ritchie is smart enough to hire him.
Now, just find an excuse to stick Chris Pratt and Henry Cavill in a movie together. Henry Cavill could be a GT racer or a formula one racer trying to break into nascar and Chris Pratt could be his obnoxious rival. Then (shocking plot twist) they become friends. Sort of like days of thunder. Or you could do the reverse. Maybe Pratt got kicked out of nascar and needs help learning the Euro circuits or whatever.
Boom. There you go Hollywood. Free idea.

There are some great books on that group. Also I think that the late great Christopher Lee was one of the commandos that was a part of Prime Minister Churchill's Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare. I may go to see this movie, hopefully they do all those folks right.

Guy Ritchie's ''The Covenant'' with Jake Gyllenhaal & Dar Salim was one of my favorite movies of 2023, even though it was a serious war drama and not the typical Guy Ritchie comedy.

P.S. Yes, Ian Fleming, the creator of James Bond was involved with planning various special operations during WWII and recruiting/ training commandos, even though he never went out in the field himself. For example, he was involved in planning & coordinating commando raids in occupied France, Netherlands & former Yugoslavia.
Christopher Lee was an operator in WW2 special forces and I believe some of James Bond was based on his life.

Chr. Lee was later joking in an interview: " Ian wanted me to play Bond, naturally they cast me later as a Bond villain, instead..."

Not designed to be one, but I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't blow up on the screen. It's fun, it's comedic, it's got lots of action and charisma.
It hasn't got much competition at the box office either, ATM.

My thoughts are, this is the kind of film that you know is going to be a lot of fun and through word of mouth makes it some coin. Didn't know Bruckheimer was involved and his films have always been entertaining. And I'm so glad that Guy Ritchie isn't doing Hercules. This film is 100% his wheelhouse.
Really interesting in seeing this movie. Also Netflix is doing a Netflix miniseries on The Gentlemen. Good stuff. Thank you Mr. H.

@@festo512 True, but it's been a while since I've enjoyed a 'Boy's Own' sort of movie. This has that feeling of those 60's War movies, doesn't it? I just mean last summer there was only Barbie & Oppenheimer to choose from. This will have cost a lot less to make than either of those, so I think it'll bring in the receipts. Plus, I reckon it might upset a few of those virtue signallers, that would be brill.
