i've not seen the reacher series just read the books. He very much is not. In the books he is not on steroids, not typical Hollywood look -- he is very good at blending in and very smart. Should be a dark intense character, not this guy at all. Just how I feel about it -- I kind of get too distracted bc it just feels like a different thing entirely than Reacher

I love his sense of humor - not only is he funny but he can laugh at himself as well. 🥰
He is quite humble too - there is a video about him talking about Hollywood Rejection and his description and how he reacted to being refused as Thor due to pretty much be a bad actor at the time (and being told so by the biggest casting directors in the world!) - so what did he do? He acknowledged that criticism and immediately started working on getting better!

I love how respectful Alan is towards Tom Cruise even though Tom didn't fit the role of Reacher. Alan is such a great guy, and a really talented actor. So happy that Reacher is already renewed for season 3!
Having never read the books, I didn't know TC didn't fit the physical description, so I enjoyed the films.
I feel if Tom Cruise didn't do Reacher I don't know if the TV show gets made. It was a decent movie BUT this is a case where the TV show is better than the Movie. Great casting and job well done by Alan Richtson.
Not to mention the dude is open about using testosterone to get huge.
Ritchson makes a good point. Tom Cruise making two successful movies got enough interest going for long enough so the TV series could happen. Not sure it happens without Tom Cruise's efforts.
I saw so many comments praising Alan's Reacher by shitting on Tom's movie, which I enjoyed, and it made me not want to watch this one.
His interview around the time of the first season and the respect he had for the movies completely changed my mind and made me a fan.
I'm only 82, but I've been in love with Jack Reacher since I read the first book he was in. I've read all the books and watched ever episode of Reacher.

I'm so pleasantly surprised by how far this dude has come. I still remember him from Smallville, and thought he was *terrible* as Aquaman. Now, I absolutely love him in Reacher, and I couldn't appreciate him more for how open and honest he's been with his mental health struggles. And he just seems like a genuinely delightful guy.
His job in the flashback on Brooklyn 99 is hilarious.

When I first saw Reacher is said to myself, “man, this guy is like an adult military Clark Kent from Smallville. He would’ve been perfect for that show” 😂 little did I know he was literally THEE aqua man in the final season that I actually missed during my first watching of the show

First saw this guy as Thad Castle in Blue Mountain State. Love that he made it big and fully embodies the character he's meant to play. He seems like a nice guy, he's a great talent, he's gorgeous, I want more Jack Reacher. If you haven't watched it yet, do yourself a favor. Great series, it's a really fun show, just good old fashioned turn your brain off and enjoy fun

I think one of the reasons why I (and probably a lot of other Reacher's fans) love the character so much is because he is living the life we love to have and does what we cannot (you know, physically) do. Also, he has the moral compass the world needs.

His advocacy for mental health awareness is wonderful and candid
I read so many Reacher books when I was on deployment and had a picture of him in my head (along the lines of Dolph Lundgren). We had a giant Marine on my ship who looked the part, so my vision of the Reacher character was set in stone. I was so upset when I heard that Tom Cruise was playing him, but gave it a chance in theaters. Although Tom was a brilliant actor in the role, his frame just couldn't fill it, and I thought that the movies would have done better with another more accurate Reacher. Nobody could take small guy Cruise intimidating stone cold killers just from entering a room serious. Seeing Ritchson literally fill that role and blowing up the series like Reacher blows up bad guys fills my heart with joy, knowing that the audience who couldn't take the time to read the series can now see what I saw during those long nights on deployment. With all the things that go wrong in this world, seeing Alan Ritchson beating down small town bad guys while avoiding laundry makes everything seem right.
Right! And all while carrying a travel toothbrush in his pocket!

Fun Fact: He auditioned for Thor and although the casting directors really wanted him for the role due to his physicality and looks, they were very honest and even told him they wouldn't take him as he didn't have the talent back then.

I remember seeing him in Smallville, and then BMS, Turtles, the Kevin Hart movie whatever it was called and that weird Death Race 2000 type show where the cars ate people, followed by Titans, feels like I have watched him his entire career. I am glad he is finally getting his due, even showing up in Fast X. He deserves it all as an actor

Alan Ritchson is criminally underrated. He's exactly what Jack Reacher supposed to be on screen, way better than Tom Cruise imo. Glad that he got the role of a lifetime. Dude is such a beast, a great action star and really likeable too. Healthy marriage with three kids, such a great guy
What idiot ever came up with the idea of casting Cruise as Reacher. The dam books descibe him as being 6'4 or 6'5' , two hundred and something pounds. Then they go cast a 5'9', 150 pound putz as the main character for the movies.

I actually got bored of the Reacher Series, it was slow and boring. Tom Cruise is so much better and more entertaining. Ritchman has no personality at all. I think it might be more of the writers and bad directing. What do you expect from an Amazon production?

I loved the entire 1st season of Reacher!! Alan is the supreme actor & perfect fit for this role! Can hardly wait to watch (probably will binge it!) the new season.
Also, have to add, he is a really terrific actor, with both comedic and drama abilities. Would love to see this guy MORE in other things, too!

Cruise did a fantastic job in the Reacher movies, and their success means he did something right. Alan is being very respectful and noting the fact that Cruise's movies put the name on the map, and now Alan is taking up that torch and making the role his own. He's right. I definitely rolled my eyes when I heard Tom Cruise got the role. I had been reading the books, and Reacher being this really big blonde guy is a pretty important part of the character, who tends to do a kind of Shane thing wherever he goes.

After learning about how the TMNT movies mistreated him, I'm so happy for Alan's success with this series.

I've read the books, seen the movies & Season 1 many times & I know the physical differences between Cruise & Reacher, but Tom did a good job of portraying Reacher's mentality & Alan is right. If Tom doesn't want to make those movies, there is no Amazon series.

I love the series and I love this guy. I didn't read the books but what I've heard was that Jack Reacher is a tall and strong dude like Alan is. And he fits perfectly. I've watched the first 3 episodes of season 2 and hopefully today are following the next episodes.
Never heard of Reacher until it was made by Tom and loved it. I reluctantly started watching the series thinking it will never be as good, I was wrong. I can’t wait for season 2.

As a huge fan of the REACHER novels, I literally LOL's when they announced Tom was going to be Reacher. Saw both films and I must say - Tom really did nail down the attitude of Reacher. That being said - Alan HAD to be cast as Reacher. He also has nailed down the character as well as of course literally fits the stature. Im so glad they found Alan and I am SO pining for Friday (that's when the next episode is being released in my area.)

I don't know the books (yet - I am definately going to read them because if the series is that good than the books must be amazing) but from what I have heard he fits the description of Reacher in the books perfectly. For me he is the perfect casting for the role; it is not just his physical presence, but his demeanor, the way he talks - everything. Already through the first few episodes of season two, waiting for the next episode.
IF you somehow see this Mr. Alan Ritchson, bravo! Just start to finish, top to bottom, all around, you deliver all of it exactly perfect. Your take on Reacher will forever be the version in my mind. The entire team is amazing too, production incredible, writing the absolute best in the genre. I NEED a minimum of 10 seasons please very much. I will take way more though if you are willing.
