Tottenham Hotspur have finally found their next manager, Ange Postecoglou. But not everyone is convinced by this appointment.
Who is Big Ange? Does it matter that he won the treble with Celtic? Does he even have any experience? Nobody knows.
Except for JJ Bull, and he thinks that Ange Postecoglou is perfect for Tottenham Hotspur...

As a rangers fan, so glad to see this guy leave scotland.
I remember almost two years ago, celtic were predicted to be 5 years away from challenging for the title after rangers went through an invincibles season, needing a major rebuild.
When the Ange links started, I remember almost everyone in Scotland, regardless of what side of the Old Firm you’re on, felt that he was completely out his depth, considering Celtic had Rodgers in recent times.
But let me tell you something, when Ange gets his team firing, they are absolutely terrifying to play against. Completely dominated the Old Firm during his tenure, playing really entertaining football (as much as it hurts to say). I even remember watching Celtic play madrid at parkhead, and althought they lost, they outplayed real for large parts of the game, and should’ve definitely won.

I actually think they will. As JJ says, Spurs are no longer a top four club, and even if Kane stays (which is no certainty), they’re a long way from winning a trophy.
I honestly think if Ange clears out a lot of the squad dead wood, brings in some exciting young players from the youth teams, Asia or elsewhere, and shows the intent of playing attacking football, that will be a good enough season for Spurs fans even if they finish 8th again.
The benefit Ange has is no European football, allowing him to focus on the league and maybe even a deep cup run. As well as just having more time to convey his ideas to the squad.

I've not missed a game for 2 years now as I loved watching us play. Ange managed to get the players with the pace and stamina required to play his way with a small budget compared to spurs. When Celtic played Real Madrid to open up the Champions League he insisted we were going to make Real adjust to us, not the other way around. And honestly, Celtic did as well as they possibly could and hung around with them for most of the game. If he’d stayed at Celtic one more year I wouldn’t be surprised to see a Ro16 appearance. Hail hail the Celts are here!
Oh, you're lucky, lucky Spurs fans.
I am a lifelong Celtic fan also becoming a Spurs fan due to Ange. Strap yourself in for after a few weeks you will have relentless attacking football.
Ange came to Celtic and took two middle-of-the-road full-backs, both only backup full-backs, and improved them greatly, both eventually being chosen by the national team, both willing to run through a brick wall for Ange, both 100% committed and full of octane energy, both scoring and making goals. Ange was a left fullback himself and turned them both into inverted fullbacks.
And it's the same with all the positions around the park, Ange improves everybody's skill and input, commitment, their high press, and every player knows his job and is 100% committed to the cause. Talk about everything coming together as a force of one! That's what I call proper management. His psychological insight and awareness of everybody else are on another level, he will handle any player no matter how big a star they are, any director, any official, any media correspondent, and any press conference. He has the ability to say all the right things honestly and intelligently to everybody he encounters and is a first-class motivator.
Some of the joined high press, speed, and clinical attacks sometimes would take my breath away. I couldn't believe some of the play, Ange knows how the game should be played. Here is a major part of Ange's tactics. He gets the ball boys into the first team he makes them really feel part of it, watch and smile every time the ball goes out of play when the opponents switch off a bit, that is the moment of surprise for as soon as that ball crosses the white line the ball boy knows that another ball must instantly and directly be given to a Spurs player and the surprise attack is on straight away with the opposition players not quick enough to even see what's happening.
It's exactly the same at corners and free kicks while the opposition is still complaining or moaning to the ref about a foul being called, the ball is already in the net. Ange demands total concentration and commitment, his mantra is "We never stop", relentless high-octane football at its finest. He has two plans, plan A & plan B. If plan A is not effective enough then he encourages plan B (to do plan A, faster and better) I loved that about him. With his charisma and a personality of authority, his players will be 100% committed to his system which will win football matches at any level because his players will be more switched on, more concentrated, more focused, fitter, sharper, and quicker than the opponent.
At every level, his ability has been questioned, and he has excelled at every post he has taken. Ange said early on in his career that he is supremely confident in his own ability to reach the top. Don't worry about Ange making the step up, worry about Spurs not stepping up to meet Ange's expectations. And worry about the biggest clubs around Europe eventually coming calling.
Ange will win you over before he even starts, he will have you eating out of the palms of his hands. It doesn't matter if there is a director of football or not, or who the backroom staff is, he's that good, he will get them all on board and make them better, people want to die for him, he quickly became a god at Celtic. I'm quite sure he will also develop a positive relationship with owner Daniel Levy.
It won't take as long as some people think, it's just a completely different way of playing for players, it takes time for them to adapt, not the manager, and I can assure you that adapt they will, or they will be gone. Every week you will see an improvement in every player and more and more commitment to Ange's case as the weeks go by.
I have supported Celtic since the early 60s and also I remember watching the legendary Spurs team with Martin Peters and Alan Gulzeen (Scottish). Ange was only at Celtic for two years, and in my humble opinion, he was our best manager since Jock Stein was the first British manager to win the Europen Cup, I think he is that good.
Come on you Spurs, all the best for the new season, I and many other Celtic fans will be watching and supporting ;-)))

We have the strongest squad in recent memory, with unreal fitness, mentality and hunger, and Ange has moulded them into ruthless winners.
The fans have had our standards raised, which beggars belief after the last 10 to 20 years we've had, and the board likely knows we expect a replacement who can at least continue, if not build upon, Ange's success.
Combine this squad with our eager fans, a board willing to spend to maintain progress and automatic CL football and I have full faith that we will find an able replacement.
... All that being said, they won't be Ange. He goes with our love, and we hope Spurs fans give him the time to have the same impact on all of you as he has had on us 🍀

Both ultimately failed and totally lost their respective dressing rooms. Conte literally begging to get sacked on TV. Look at the official symbol of Australia, it's the kangaroo and emu, the only two animals that can't take backward steps, only forward steps. If given time at Tottenham i know he could be very successful playing high intensity football that Tottenham would suit . When he took over celtic it was seen as a "rebuild" job as Rangers were far ahead of us . But instead of a long term thing he put us back on top winning the treble in one season its fantastic. Also his knowledge of the asian market(players like kyogo, maeda and even mitoma bringing them over for pennies) unmatched. If spurs will actually decide to give a manager time im sure he'll be fantastic, he sticks by his philosophy of attacking football and will disregard anyone who doesnt fit into his plans which might be controversial at first but hes shown it works in the end

Postecoglou's strengths are perfect for Scotland but mostly not relevant for a club like Spurs, and his main weakness will be a real problem.
He is absolutely brilliant at spotting a player and finding value. But clubs in Spurs' market are never going to unearth gems in the J League; every player good enough for that level is already on a spreadsheet at every club. They have whole departments for scouting and recruitment. Celtic & Rangers are big, but they can't match that.
His other big strength is motivation. That's obviously important everywhere but it's critical in Glasgow. Even in the English Premier League a wee bad spell can be accepted; at the old firm you need to win every week. A run with a couple of draws and a surprise defeat will cost you the league, and your job. Postecoglou is great at driving his squad on in every minute of every match, creating a sense of narrative and purpose that helps players dig deep within.
His main weakness is tactical, and that is going to be a problem. I watched almost every minute of Celtic's group stage and knock-out European football, and their games against Rangers, and he is defensively naive. It's all fun and romance to go to the Bernebau and have a go, but they were shockingly and unnecessarily open in that match and in others. Postecoglou has a worse record in Europe than Lennon or Rodgers before him and that should have raised bigger question marks over his suitability to step up than seems to have been the case.
I'm proud and defensive of Scottish football but let's be honest, Celtic only need to spend wisely and apply themselves throughout the season to win every trophy. That's what Postecoglou did excellently.
I'm hoping I'm wrong, I like the guy and the club he's moved to, but I worry that after getting caught out on transitions over and over again he'll struggle to find a balance between defence and attack. Time will tell.

The one thing about Ange is that he will not deviate much from whatever plan he has, there is little pragmatism from him. In the qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup, he had us playing great football in a pretty simple formation that suited our players, either a 433, or a 4231 with effectively double DMs. We were cruising to qualification. Half way thru he switched to a 3 at the back, with two wing backs because he thought it was a better way for us to play at the World Cup proper. So, effectively experimenting in the middle of the qualification campaign. We did not have the players to play this way. We didn't have the depth at CB, we didn't really have players that were comfortable as wing backs. Completely ruined the qualification campaign, players were confused, made stupid errors, he was too pig headed to revert back and we nearly missed the World Cup, dropped to third in our group and had to qualify thru the playoffs. Was very nearly a disaster for Australian football, all because of his avirice. I can see him succeeding at Spurs, as much as i can see him convincing Hojberg that he can be a ball carrying, underlapping number 10 and then him stuffing up and Spurs conceding. Either way, it will probably get Spurs the type of football their fans want, and i can see it being entertaining for the neutrals 😅 As always JJ, great vid.

Terrible take 😂😂 In a mediocre national team like ours, he has extremely limited options on players who play in the style he likes to play. He simply does not fit as a national coach unless he coaches pacey team who are in dominant teams that play attacking football and understand how to constantly press and recover. I always thought he would be a fantastic manager for Japan. How many Aussies play in quality clubs that have exposure to constant high press and can recover? Oh yeah, basically none! Then you look at his club success where he can now pick and choose players who are suitable for his play-style and all of a sudden, constant success for over a decade. Until you understand the vast difference between National and club setup you will continue to be clueless.

I am so sorry to see Ange go. I've not felt an affinity with a manager since O'Neil, and I'm sad that he's left to go to Tottenham. It's funny though to see the Spurs fans belittle Ange's achievements, like Spurs are some how above him. I don't know where they've been, but they've done nothing in football other than build a stadium fit for concerts. That's all Spurs are good for, and the sooner Spurs fans realise where their club is, the sooner they'll get behind Ange and the sooner their club can match their beliefs. But if they're still going to stick steadfast to their delusions of being a "Big/Top 6 Club" (which you're not. You win stuff for that accolade), then Ange will be gone by Christmas. And hopefully back at Celtic.
