When he overwinds his heartclock, he overclocks his reaction-speed. Opponents are all effectively in slow-motion to him, hence why he can deflect bullets and overcome armed-soldiers with just his blades.

But ID Softwares and Bethesda will need to go through trying to have the rights to use him along with the Hellboy franchise from DC Comics

I think its worth mentioning that Kroenen was portrayted by Ladislav Beran - dancer, martial artist and a stuntman.
I loved the detail that he got 'killed' by a clock gear since he is a machine based on clockwork

Not only that, but his name being 'Kroenen' could probably trace its origins back to 'Chronos' which was the name of the greek god of time.
@@JackLoyal93 Krönen, oe is ö in german, translates to "crown" in english. In the context of "to crown", not crown as an object, that would be Krone
The watch crown (German "Uhrenkrone") also describes the mechanical element to adjust or wind up clocks.
He's not really dead, so he's stuck under that cogwheel for all of *time*. Karma/Irony.
He always looked so badass. I remember being a kid and I was so disappointed when he was “killed” because I wanted to see more of him

The Hellboy universe is one of the most interesting worlds in comics IMO. So many great characters and stories.

I loved this character, I didn't care how evil he was he looked acted and was a total badass for the entire film
That's what sucks about comic book movies. You can't fit all the awesome details in unless he gets his own movie.
Even then he was made more interesting for the movie, in the comics he was just a scientist in a gas mask who died at the end of the second story. He could talk in the original version but was otherwise an unremarkable character.

thats technically a wehrmacht general or officer uniform but mostly a General since its a robe not a tucked in uniform. SA uniforms are maroon with bright red swastika patches.

I've been fascinated by Kroenen quite a bit, his clockwork internals have me intrigued. Send him back to the middle ages where people still fought with swords and bows and he'd literally be a middle ages terminator
Kroenen has always been my favourite antagonist. He looks unbelievably badass and his skill with the dual swords is insane.
I'd love to know the actor that played him. Although a lot of the film is animated, his skill and speed with the dual swords is legitimate.

If you look at the new poster you can see that he’s wielding Excalibur. That means he decided to take the path that which in his comics means he’s gonna command his army and take over the world in flame.
In the comics he didn’t take the sword because he didn’t want to become a monster, so you can imagine how dark this movies gonna be.
I remember watching this when I was younger and he always freaked me out, great video!

I love movies with so much thought put into them that every character is filled to the brim with depth and little details to explore after each rewatch. It’s not some 12 year old redditor’s idea of DEEP it’s an actual writer’s talent being infused into the character to create something new. That is the Art of Filmmaking, and why film adaptions aren’t always a recipe for disaster.

The first Hellboy movie was in a league of its own. Everything about it was impressive, from the final boss to Hellboy himself, and of course Kroenen.

Thanks for doing this. I'm a huge fan of the first Hellboy movie.. It's a shame Ron Perlman and Del Toro kept us so long in suspense for a third film and ultimately let us down with a no. But well, at least we still getting more Hellboy and I really can't wait for it... The first Hellboy, with all these Nazi themes, Victorian era settings and steampunk elements (the character you just went through), really blew me away. It will always be considered to me, a masterpiece.
Edit* I missed out one of the core elements which is actually that very Lovecraftian vibe, especially when the elder god was awakened. It was goosebumps I tell'ya. ; )
Del Toro and ron both wanted to do a third and there was one planned but studio stepped in if I remember right.
@@wint3rki11 I believe part of why it fell through was because it really did took too long and... Not to offend, but our dear Ron's age is really starting to show.. It's kinda sad, I mean, it went on for about a decade...
Del Toro And Perlman were pushing for a third film, it was an epic 120 million dollar conclusion to the story, Legendary films was interested, but the Chinese bought the studio, and Mignola refused over and over to back a story where Hellboy died.

When I first saw Hellboy I really wanted the replica of the tonfa blades. Decided to go for Prince Nuada's Spear instead. A decision I don't regret!
Thats is so awesome Saro! I did the same thing with Beatrix Kiddo's sword from Kill Bill, though my girlfriend at the time didnt agree with the purchase. In the end, the sword is still with me, while she left, which is why I'm glad I made the purchase haha

My other favorite replica weapon it Buffy's Scythe by Factory X, it's beautiful. Why did the ex object to you owning a movie prop? Some people just aren't a good fit. Hope you meet/have already met someone who is just right for you bro.

I picked up his blades along with the prince nuada spear! Couldn't resist either of them tbh. Spent a little bit more than I wanted to on them but fuck it they were worth it, everything 100% useable without fear of breaking.

I am not really that excited for the new hellboy film since del toro isn't there and I'm afraid it'll just be pacific rim all over again..
Mike Mignola the creator of Hellboy will be there, I'm not very worried but it would certainly have a different charm than Del Toro's works.
This is really off topic but the way people stand together in hating Pacific Rim never fails to make my day. I watched that movie 4 times in a month and I hated every second of it. We don't want a third Pacific Rim, 100% agree.

Nah, that would be if it was a sequel. It's a reboot so they're not going to touch DelToro's work. And on the bright side, they got the writer of the comics on board.

His gas mask is in a display in the second movie. You can see Krauss looking at it in one of the scenes, so at some point they must have gone back to finish him off instead of just assuming he won't eventually find his way out from under the gear. They probably made some precautions to make sure he can't kill whatever recovery crew sent to make sure he's neutralized, and they probably dismembered him just to be sure.

The toothfairies were in the 2nd one. Prince Nuada released them at the auction house.

I'm skeptical about the new Hellboy. I loved the original series as a kid, and I'm very curious to see how the story could be retold. However, reboots tend to be hit and miss with me.

Yeah, was looking forward to see the reboot version of Abe, as other than big Red himself, he is my favorite character, but I think the Overall performance of Abe’s actor is too unique to replicate.

I remember seeing this character as a kid and just thought he was the most coolest and badass character I’ve ever seen
When i was a child i was scared of him but also i was considering him as the biggest badass in series. Still loving him and hellboy 1 because of him is one of the most my favourite films of all time
