I think it's only a partial L. Big corporations owning everything is a problem, that's a fact. There's nothing wrong with supporting an alternative (even inferior) product out of principle. Lots of tools have become great because of raw community support (Blender, for example). On the other hand. There's nothing wrong with using the mainstream product if it benefits you and doesn't oppose your moral compass - development is a career for most, not a crusade (I said for most, lol). Use the tools that get you to where you want to be.

I saw the community post you made before watching the video, and now I'm somewhat scratching my head to what is really wrong with this video. Sure, what you recommended isn't 100% free from the botnet but I think it's a decent quick summary and if people are genuinely interested they can do more research on their own on things like telemetry and overall open-ness of the platforms they use. There's only so much you can fit in a short video. I think it's a decent video and I hope this doesn't stop you from branching out into more philosophical content within the tech world since I think that discussion is important too.

Open source is a great way for different companies to cooperate on projects. Even the Linux kernel is a big cooperative project of many different companies and individuals. People gotta eat.

I'd say if you have the resources to use windows, it's alright but changing to something like fedora is really smooth experience. I personally use vs code in fedora after trying most of the linux distributions and coding editors. Coding editor is your personal choice but keep in mind, you have to let go of the extensions of vs code mostly in order to change. That's why i didnt change it
coding in a linux distro as opposed to windows is soo much smoother, definitely recommend the switch, it's not as hard as people make it up to be, especially if you chose a beginner friendly distro like linux mint. you can just dual boot it so if you don't like it, you can easily go back to your windows installation
Use whatever you feel most comfortable with. Don't try to switch because of some neckbeards typing from their anime 15yo arch thinkpads. If you're planning to do coding ONLY, yes, linux is very good for that. But anything other than that you're going to have some hiccups, especially if you're used to working with specific suites. I've used linux for quite some time and it has failed me in one way or another, so to me is was not worth it. Good luck.

That's not something you want to just float around on the Internet for everyone to see.

I also dont rly know much about programming but I started studying the logic with python, then went fot data structures in C language and Im going to see java for object oriented programming next semester

@@Turki.alshayea If you want more theoretical math and logic crap, go for CS. And if you want to be more involved directly in software development and business decision making, go for SE.
Though at the end of the day both majors will make you land on the same job so it really doesn't matter on what you choose other than worrying about the courses
