- The Lexus LFA is among the rarest cars on earth. Only 500 of these V10, carbon fiber super cars were built and driving one is a special privilege. Just prior to retiring car number 14 from their press fleet Lexus was kind enough to let Kelley Blue Book's Micah Muzio spend a day behind the wheel. How was the experience? In a word, epic.

Keep your P1s, your La Ferraris....even your Bugatti Veyrons. This car is where it's at.
Driving LFA in car wash then Scrubbing it with a scrub brush.. fail.
Only problem here, plz no cheap auto car wash for this beauty !!! lol
8:48 OMG no! 😓
Doesn't the owners manual say specifically NOT to use auto car washes because water shouldn't get in the hood/rear radiator vents?
@@neargaming2057 yes
Like Top Gear says "it is the best car we have ever driven"
Truly one of the very greatest supercars of all times and the best car ever from Japan.
Camera guy actually took great shots at the dry lake bed. Damnnn!! (1080p)
in my opinion this car is one of the best looking cars ever
The thing ferrari and bugatti dont have is that intoxicating sound. No other car sounds like the LFA. Who knew lexus would make such an amazing car.
it was yamaha.
Hope this is a joke. Ferrari is known for orgasmic intoxicating sounds. You're thinking about porsche
Nope, it stands from here too.
@@Matt-cw1mv gt3, carrera gt?
Yes Paul. The seat belts were different because they actually have a tiny little airbag fitted inside them. So in case of an accident the seatbeats actually have extra cushioning effect? FYI.....
One of the best supercars ever made :D
The best....
in all the supercars in the world next to a gumpert, Id roll up in this. Gorgeous car
Truth Neal ...in the whurld.
6:55 tire problems. You drove around a dry lake bed.
The 'melodic' exhaust note is courtesy of Yamaha, who also helps Toyota make/tune their heads/cams for Toyota's 'mad' cars (E.g. AE86, ISF, LFA)
The LFA and the Carrera GT may sound the same, and price the same, but are polar opposites in handling. I think I'd stick with the LFA, just because I'd have greater hope of being able to come out of a fast turn alive.
Yeah. The Carrara GT is kinda old now as well.
Ask Paul Walker how the Carrera GT handles lol
Damn but these guys just dont care what car they are driving... Tire is unsafe to be drivin on drive it like crazy anyways, take it to shitty car washes that will cause microscratches up the wazoo on the car get it completely filthy in the flats then probably dont change any filters at all... I understand its a press car but show some respect sheesh...
I’d much rather see this, over seeing a car wither away in somebody’s garage or collection, never to be driven.
That’s exactly what I thought!! What an absolute block this guy is. The manual clearly has “do not use car wash” he basically thrashed
Fun fact: The engine, a 1LR-GUE is made by Yamaha and accounts for almost 1/3 of the price of the car... AKA the engine is really fucking good.
Do they still make this cause I'm waiting for the new design for Lexus LFA
+austin phonisay nope, they made a certain amount of them and that was it. I believe they made 300
+Sebastian Calle 500
Yamaha didn't mAke by Yamaha.. They just tuned it (musical department).. Don't spread fake info.. And Yamaha there owned by Toyota
@@austinphonisay7455 They are coming up with a successor to the LFA. Look it up on the Internet.
omg lexus actually puts a pamphlet with the owners manual that says never to take the car in an automatic carwash
damn they fcked that car up
yeah, poor lfa
Fantastic job Micah, as well as the rest of the crew! I love this real-world living with it everyday kinda review, so much different and more relatable than those normal publication car reviews. Looks like you guys all had a blast driving the car and making the video:)
Had a chance to ride in one during a press event in Japan and the transmission made the very same strange noise when stopping so must be normal.
I could listen to the engine sound all day long. He is right it is the best sounding exotic supercar today. Too bad, there will not be another car that sounds half as good since everything is downsizing and going to laggy vaccum cleaner sounding turbos.
Also, I can tell he never changed the transmission settings to shift level 7 (the fastest of the 7 shifts) since it is a separate knob that needs to be set and completely independent. It shifts lightning fast in level 7 and there is nothing abrupt about it.
Micah, you make these reviews subtly entertaining. They're great!
Never seen any reviews who hasn't fallen in love with that glorious exhaust sound.
What a great review! Micah is like a buddy you've known for a long time, who happens to review cars. Entertaining yet informative
Great job! You captured the technical might of the LFA and the emotional response driving such an accomplished musical instrument generates.
It is almost as if the car just HAD to be this good to deserve the sounds emanating from what sounds like a caged animal. Outstanding!
Toyota didn't cut any corners when they made this thing. That's Japanese people for you.
they did and its called Scion FRS =P
Kevin Le Oh yeah, I forgot about that lol
hehe... Toyota lost about 25k only for each Lfa if my memory is right but def not one mil, still cheap for commercial based on "true story"
Kevin Le Toyota is an automotive super giant. for the 25k they lose on the 400 LFA's it's pennies in the Atlantic ocean to them.
lol yup, plus realistic commercial for much cheaper cost =), smart way for business.
That was a really well done video! I'd love to see this guy do more reviews
To the reviewer: At 0:38, the gauge cluster showed 5 bars out of 7 on the transmission speed so you were already in the middle ground when you put it in sport mode. The shifts could go up quicker two levels by using the knob located on the right hand side of the gauge cluster (just below the mode selector).
The best LFA review i really felt that that's the reaction I'll get if I'm driving it
Awesome video I like how it felt like a adventure for you guys like a road trip
wow, the sound is amazing
Lexus (or Toyota) really need a mass-production version of the LFA. Maybe ~$150,000 to butt heads with the 911 or ~$200,000 to tick off Ferrari/Lamborghini/McLaren owners.
They don't have to because all 500 production Lexus LF-A is already sold out. If I win a big lottery jackpot I would definitely like to buy one if I could find one that's for sale.
The LFA was more of a Toyota bragging rights exercise than an attempt at a commercial success.
Riding on such hype, a new ~$175k sport car (or ~$100k) will guarantee buyers and give Corvette, 911 & GT-R owners something to worry about, and open a market for Toyota/Lexus to enter the expensive sports car market. Call it the new Supra.
for it's original price tag, Toyota were losing money for each LFA sold, decreasing the price and mass producing would cause them to lose even more money, Toyota have deep pockets, thats why they sold 500 even though they knew they were gonna lose money, but they aren't stupid to mass produce and lower the price, they just wanted to make a statement with the LFA to show that they can even make a supercar
I totally agree with you 100%
The LFA is the first generation of a long line of super cars to come. So i'm sure they will eventually come out with more affordable super cars OR the trickle down engineering will bring a cheap sports car out of the toyota line.
I really love this video. I think it's the best i've ever seen about this epic car.
second only to the one of top gear's
Excellent video, job well done.
Best review of the LFA! Thank you.
Very good video, really enjoyed it!
An amazing car, not least because it was built as a display of what the modern engineer and designer can do, rather than a money maker. The fact that they sold them at a loss speaks volumes of that to me. They made it because they wanted to, not because they wanted money.
toyota could buy ford gm and dodge and still have money leftover, to them this was just to prove to american muscle car fanboys that they are more than capable of making one of the world's best
guy proulx
No they couldn't, they're not that wealthy. Ford is like the single most popular brand in the west, 'yota couldn't afford to buy that.
it would have been easy for toyota to buy gm and dodge when they were bankrupt and got bailed out by us the taxpayers, toyota was probably not interested as their focus is on building reliable vehicles
powered by YAMAHA - power & sound
awesome editing..all videos should be like this..amazing
WHO KNEW that KBB made on of the greatest videos of all time?!?!?
4:31 he sounds like a excited little kid lol
Micah can I have your job? Just for one day? Man that looked like fun. What I want to see is the bloopers video. :D
The best review of LFA!
I can not believe they let him touch the car let a lone drive it. then he acts just like a yong kid heats the tires up till they come a part just like young kid that does not know how to drive !
Best Car Ever, Again watching in 2021 !! 😍😍
I LIKE IT. Im just wondering how is it on Fuel?
Imo the best sounding car you can buy thats street legal, That high pitch whine and 9,000 RPG I love some of the little features of this car as well the more pressure needed to downshift leather backed shift paddles
Fantastic, perfectlt presented.
You REALLY took that car to an automated car ‘destroyer’ wash!?!???
Inconceivable!!!?!???
The smile and sound alone is worth a million dollar what’s a beauty
Out of all the car CZcamsrs I want to meet, I think Micah is probably at the top of the list
Where was this filmed? I wanna go have fun with my car there! Looks so much fun!
great review
finally micah actually loved something
That was a fun video to watch.
So I know its been a while since the video was out..but when he complained about the transmission and switched that dial, he switched the drive mode from normal to sport. The trans dial is a smaller one below it..
Music was great. I really like the grungy sound
My dream super car ever
Lim Yuhan mine too
How many miles does the car have
How many miles does it have
Dude you're not gonna drive my LFA...wait a minute.. never mind
I LOVE that LFA!
The F1 V10 sound alone is worth the price. Like everyone says, Lexus LFA stands as the greatest accomplishment by the Japanese automotive industry.
9:48 Interesting seeing the clear epoxy for the carbon fiber steering wheel lifting and peeling off, especially since this is a 9 year old video.
I had to wince seeing carwash #1 with the spinning brushes and carwash #2 at the coin-op with the brush touching the paint! 😅
This yellow LFA is belonging to Lexus USA as press car, and of course "Even the seatbelt is expensive", and she truly brought so many smiles to those who rode her indeed.....lolzzz :)))
385k, how much is it now?
Young & thin Micah sounds diferent
There’s a piece of paper or somewhere written VERY big in the manual that literally says do NOT take your LFA to ANY car wash.. It MUST be detailed by hand
couldn't go to Willow Springs to road test it?
If this was my car I would be pissed. #yourfired
good insights
Why would you not want your hands on this car when you wash it?!
You can change the shift speed to 7 levels. Either going through lightning fast to slowest so there is a middle ground. Reviewer is unaware that you can change the shift speeds in 7 level increments. If he wants middle ground, you can adjust it to level 4 or 5.
oml I love Lexus lfa so do so much💙❤💙
Where is the dry lake bed?
Gorgeous car
Amazing car amazing review will always be envious I will never get to experience a ride like that. Next time you get such a iconic car like that look me up for a ride please.
You guys did an incredible job on this review! The only part that was cringe worthy was the car wash! I would *never* take an LFA to a carwash that touches the car. Poor LFA; you should've went to a touch less wash! Aside from that, this was very enjoyable to watch!
I have a small spot for this car. 😍 Which is probably why I gained one for the RC-F.
I would already be happy if I could ever just sit inside for a few minutes.
I saw it twice at the Vienna Autoshow (2012 & 13), but wasn't allowed to take a seat. (only the vip-tickets guys :P)
Reminded me of the mythological speed and power of the "Mach 5"...but this is for real :)
Boss: does it have to be yellow? Yellow lfa now worth more than any other color
man i love the Lfa my dream car i have the auto art 1:18 toy car of the lfa
is this yellow lfa the one where many people will drive it (and ruin it)? this one was driven in California, beat around at the lake bed and getting dirty. Jeremy Clarkson also drove a yellow Lexus lfa in California in Race to the Mexican Border. the lfa in the Motortrend Head 2 Head Ep. 8 was also yellow (and in california). also, Autobytel's LFA review also included a yellow one (in california). my friend's dad who is ranked high in lexus/toyota has one leased, which is also yellow (he's not a rich guy who buys/leases cars because of wealth). is there any connection between these lfa's? maybe they are the same?
and AOL autos used it i believe
a lot of companies dedicated some cars as "Media cars" for automotive journalists and other events.
"I want to take it apart"
Engineers... They're pretty neat.
If it's front engined, why was there an intake behind the driver's door when he was hold the $20 ?
The transmission, radiators (that is what those grilles in the rear for), alternator, battery etc. all are in the back. It is not a front engine car. It is a front mid-engine layout where the engine is in the center and there is more stuff in the back of the engine to give it a rear bias.
Nice FRS
Anyone else notice the unicorn on the rock wall at 10:40?
At 10:36, the rock formations look like a unicorn.
That's actually the same Lexus LFA that Jeremy Clarkson drove.
This car is not supposed to be washed in an automatic car washer, nor are you to spray water in certain areas. See the owners manual please!
This joins the original Honda NSX and the Nissan Skyline R34 in the legendary Japanese car league. I have loved it ever since it came out and i will never stop.
Wooo miata infront of kbb at 11:45 s/o to that guy
Haha Great Review!
Two things about an lfa. Confuse the hell out of anyone who tests it for the first time. However everyone who tested this thing just grins or smiles like a kid in a candy store who has been told he can take all he can carry
You didn't read the car wash manual... Omg
I can’t believe u ran an LFA THROUGH AN AUTO-CARWASH!
Fucking loved this car. I don't care if it's "slow".
Goodby?
Its a V10. Of course you ll love it..
LFA interior coming apart ?
Wonderful video, but I cant believe you took an LFA through an automatic car wash 😥
Good review. As this car was almost never reviewed as a video by anyone at all. *I really like how "real world" situation you gave it. Like that regular machine car wash, ignore the tires and still drive the tits off it and operating the paddles like a vending machine. I like all the tech bits and the "To die For" exhaust note. The only serious flaw is the body design. They could have learn a thing or 2 about designing sexy and good looking cars from the Italians. But they didn't. And it end up looking like a door stopper body shape and panda rear eyes for an ass.
This car could have been the best, but it isn't. I wonder how many owners actually drive it? You have better chance at bumping into a Aston 1-77 or a SLR Stirling Moss than this. Its leaves a lot of question why this car isn't on the road as often as the others. The tires could not be more expensive than a Bugatti one. Neither is it gulping fuel like a muscle car. Its has the most ergonomic seats in automotive world. Yet it is not driven.
Also this car does not have any or little tuning options for it. You have a bunch of tuning options for Japanese and European supercars. But not the LFA. Doesn't it bother anyone at all? It bothers me a lot. This car is like a ghost. Its there, but its not always seen.
And this car was sold at a loss too. Much like the GTR. I think the problem is the Lexus badge. If it was a Toyota, it might be different. It it was called a Supra, that would shake a lot of tarmac. But its too expensive to be a Supra.
I have a really weird love and hate feeling for the LFA.
lexus is toyota and why would you want to do any more tuning to an already engineering marvel and don't forget they only built 500, toyota only wanted to prove to the rest of the world that they were more than capable of competing with best, they didn't make this car to make a profit, maybe you should watch the video this time and pay attention
