For any RB players, I used this thing as my first ever fast jet and grinded the whole french tree with it, not only is it good its a fantastic beginner plane to teach you how to play high tier rb.
>You get a stupid amount of flares so you dont have to worry about running out while youre getting the hang of them.
>Two Magic 2's is basically 2 free kills and are quite easy to learn, so you'll be getting atleast some kills in while you're still a beginner
>Gun is extremely good, and it's easier to learn how to lead targets when you have a good gun.
>Airframe is solid and engines dont overheat, nothing puts a beginner off air rb like having their wings rip off immediately when they finally reach the enemy team
>Wont out turn a 4th gen but its still fairly manoeuvrable, will beat all of the premium phantoms at its BR
>Radar missiles are quite finicky to use but gives you something to master once you've got alot of games in, a great thing for a grinding plane to have to stop things getting boring.
>Not really a merit of the plane itself, but theres not many different airframes at 11.3 so its easier to learn all the enemy planes you encounter.
Probably not a fantastic plane for a air rb veteran because i suspect the armament limits the max number of kills you can get, but its great for newbies.
The armament isn't really a problem in rb aside from the horribly hit-or-miss radar missiles. I will fire one at someone asleep at the wheel flying in a straight like 1000 meters above the ground and watch it completely miss or just give up tracking regardless of aspect. I find the airframe to be the biggest problem though. Yes, you beat the F4S base bombers, and it's not impossible to fight others, but it requires you to burn a lot of energy and kill them quickly which is really risky at 11.3 when your acceleration is just so-so. In rb it just feels horribly mid in everything aside from the magic 2s and buttload of countermeasures
@@jcool017 The key to the radar missiles is to keep the target silhoueted by sky. Works very reliably as long as you can pull that off.
As for its dogfight capability, its not just base bombers its any F4. Its also good enough in my opinion in a furball. Sure yeh you're gonna lose a 1v1 against a 4th gen if its guns only, but that kinda scenario is very rare in air rb anyway.
It turns well enough that you can juggle oponents and stay alive, while being able to get your guns on targets of oportunity.
@impguardwarhamer I dunno about that chief. A lot of the radar missiles that I lob forget they were a missile, regardless of if there is literally nothing around them. I'm not stranger to radar missiles, only ones I haven't used are the 530Fs and the ones on the Vautour since I don't have the willpower to stock grind that thing. And for the F4 deal, I agree with you there. I just take any opportunity that I can to bully them so they'll forever be base bombers in my eyes. But aside from the F4, what else can it beat in the 11.0+ bracket? The 21 bis? I'm pretty sure even that is better at accelerating, so it dictates engagements outside of (rare) end-game small battles. You miss the big problem with this plane in rb, which is that sure it isn't bad at anything, but it's not very good at anything either. Every plane you meet aside from the Fodder4s can outperform you in at least one metric, if not more. It tends to leave you forced to try killing them in a turn or two and then run away before you die from empty balls. This plane is one of the few planes that I genuinely dislike flying out. Yeah, I can average minimum 1-2 kills per game, but they're free point-and-click irccm missile kills or someone dead in the water with no energy, so not very fun at all in my eyes.

I have a higher KD in that plane than pretty much anything else at that tier
@impguardwarhamer I never said I did bad in it. I said it was a mid mobile. My kd with it is about the same as the rest of my 11.3 planes, and I can make it work with our playerbase of ace pilots. That doesn't mean I have fun flying it. (Refer back to point and click irccm missiles = not fun to me. Doesn't feel like you earned a kill, they just made the mistake of entering my 2km death bubble.) As someone who has flown almost every somewhat unique airframe at 11.3 (minus F-104, the Tornado which I forgot about since it's so sad, and the F4 gang) I'm pretty sure I can spot the differences in these planes. In terms of constant rate/retention, would rather have a mig 23 or J7E. Acceleration? Literally anything except an F4. Aoa? Any of the dorito planes. The only real advantages for this plane in a dogfight that I've seen is that people are scared to stay in front of your nose and potentially get balanced™ by a Magic 2, and the ammo count for the guns.

The reason why the radar missiles don’t give a launch warning is because they are pulse type radar missiles, it’s also the same reason why they eat chaff
one of the ways i found to combat the toptier / hightier air scrambles, both in realistic, arcade and sim, is using missile sound mods, it helps alot hearing coffin dance scream towards you, which allows you to flare when you hear a missile even close towards you
Air Arcade maps are so much cooler than realistic. Like...actual cover, makes for cool dog fights. realistic maps? UHHH FLAT

@@Aoeilaeiepae Oh i play realistic, i barely have 2 or 3 plane unlocked for now so im working on unlocking them all. But the few time i played arcade it was fun. Magic 2 are goated, sometimes they just ignore all flares even at like 3 km range, but its rare

I also play this in arcade. I may not be as cracked as you, and I certainly dont play as much like a weasel as you do, but I really like thos plane. And the R550 Magic 2s are just really good imo. Nobody expects them.
And the whole french 11.3 lineup is pretty damn good with the three F1 and three M2000 variants
One plane i would like to see you play is the Aerfer Ariete, it is like the antithesis of your tactics. No missiles, no flares, but it is the uncontested king of gunfighting at it’s BR
Now ive had my mF1 for a year or so now and do pretty good with it usually and now that i knoe those pulse missles dont trigger launch warnings im gonna put that to good use in rb and sim thank you for the tears im about to farm tonight
Update the F1 is now my favorite 11.3 jet and one of the only things I've flown for the last few days

Aoeilaeiepae, I see you have not done any videos about British jets. Do you have anything in the works or are they all just terrible? I ask because I'm probably going to be grinding out the British air tree and am wondering if any of the high tier premiums are worth it.
British tech tree is an extremely long grind. You get as much as a small tech tree, but it takes as long as a bit tech tree.

IK in RB, the S530F's get a bad rap, but after they got some chaff rejection modeled, they actually ain't half bad in plenty of cases. The rejection seems to work off of a similar principle to Aim-9M's tracking suspension. Still vulnerable to chaff spam, but one or two pops (or more spaced pops) will not often defeat it like they used to. Since the missiles are Pulse instead of CW with a non-doppler radar, most RWR's are blind to it (Though if you shoot these from an M2K, they will still get a warning). Great shit on a hellishly fast plane with more flares than god. Oh, and don't forget the newly buffed death sentences that are Magic-2's...

But unlike any RB player i know why i cant handle Arcade at high tier - i cant fucking keep up.
I prefer dogfights, i cant deal with anyone too smart to be trapped. The only way i can play like this is if im stock or if the plane is literally so bad at retention that i am forced to do this.
Bad planes are the best teachers. Play them, ace them, enjoy them, anjoy the salt and hope to god you don't get banned.
