- The Bourne Legacy takes the action-packed Bourne series to an explosive new level. On the verge of having their conspiracy exposed, members of the government’s intelligence community will stop at nothing to erase all evidence of their top secret programs - even the agents involved. Aaron Cross (Jeremy Renner) must use his genetically-engineered skills to survive the ultimate game of cat-and-mouse and finish what Jason Bourne started. Also starring Academy Award® winner Rachel Weisz and Academy Award® nominee Edward Norton, critics are calling this a "thrilling, edge-of-your-seat heart-pounder” (Meg Porter Berns, WSVN-TV (FOX), Miami).

This was actually one of the best Bourne films. The story, acting and action were all top notch.
Right on
disagree
Agreed 100%. Much better even than any of the newest James Bond movies (with the possible exception of Casino Royale of course). Definitely the best of all the Bourne movies, although the first film was absolutely brilliant.
Until the movie is skewed to filming in Philippine. They skewed the production into Asian just to keep the production costs low. That was a cheap move. The original born was set up in Europe. Should have kept it there.
I agree. And its the best francise out there. I'd love a deep mining of the Treadstone universe. Keep it all in the period which, as we age, gets quainter and quainter - flip phones etc. A good russia-centric Treadstone fubar would be awesome right now.
I don't know why this film is the unfancied one in the sequence. I thought Renner was great and I loved the way that they gauged his part to match the actor.
I very much agree with you - Renner is a very good actor and brought this movie home for me.
renner sucked. the only ppl that like him as bourne are the ones that would use, "unfancied", in a sentence.
true Renner is good but he is not Jason Bourne, not even close there is only one Bourne
I thought it was
Just as good as 1 and 2 and alot better then the last..with damen
@@knotkool1 get a life. It was best sequel we needed
Severely underrated film. Shame there’s no sequel to this.
I agree totally
You gonna pretend there is no sequel?
I agree, it's one of the best from the Bourne series.
the biggest problem is for me is that Legacy book is still about Bourne, this is a good movie but should have called it something else
@@nobytes2 Why? It is the legacy Jason Bourne left behind regardless of who's in it
As the years go on I think everyone appreciates more how good the Bourne series is.
you should read the original books, good reads bit dated to time of writing but the stories solid...
No, it reminds us of what it did to action scenes, Bourne cut-fu.
@@frightfulfourproductions Upgrade him with a metal arm and give him an activation word.
So your trying to tell me Sky News is Marvel UK? Interesting.
One of the most underrated movies made in recent years. Fantastic performance from all actors.
I think many people didn’t get it when it was released, so never went back and rewatched it. They probably kept thinking that Matt Damon was going to show up.
In my opinion it’s as good as Bourne Identity, I hope someone decides to follow up with what happens to Aaron Cross someday.
I recently saw a guy that promoted the idea of never watching a film (playing a game, reading a book, et cetera) twice. As if there's nothing of worth to film or lit beyond a quick look and toss.
I wonder how many people have this mindset? In which case, this film would never be analyzed in any greater depth or given a second chance.
It's an interesting film. And I think it's one that plays better with successive viewings.
I liked this movie the first time i saw it, and I've seen all the Bourne movies. I re-watch whenever it's rerun on broadcast TV. I loved most of the performances. Edward Norton basically phoned in his performance. With his reputation, I'm surprised he took the part at all.
Yes, I really enjoyed this movie too. It's way underrated.
I thought the casting was poor
Agreed. This is actually my favorite of the Bourne movies.
Renner was such a badass ...would love to see more with him as the main character.
I loved the Bourne trilogy but this was just as good a movie, probably better.
Good…but never better.
I thought this was the best Bourne movie. All were very good. But this one resonated with me.
Trilogy? There were four not including this one
@@antr7493 Haha. He says "trilogy" because counting the last movie in the same breath would have been a travesty. That thing was abysmal.
from the trilogy it can be only compared with the first (which is by far the better) and I believe it wins for a few points
I love this movie. I think it filled in many gaps about the other programs that were running along side Treadstone. And Renner did well as an agent that asked questions and didn't really follow all the rules and that saved his life in the end. I don't know why it won't get a sequel , but it should.
coz during the 4th come out,the 1st 3 never mention bout anything bout other program like treadstone..as a standalone @ side story, yes it is good, but we never knew it was a diff bourne during that time..thats why sequel scrap off
@@deshwitat_2 actually since this one is side by side with The Bourne Ultimatum and remember Jason exposes Treadstone and blackbliar thrue there is no mention of Outcome or Larx or the other programs but those where under the table not very many people knew about them how the FBI got their hands on it no clue
This is a very very good film and I’ve watched it many times. Jeremy Renner is fantastic and so is Rachel Weisz!!!
@@deshwitat_2 There was nothing in any of the Bourne movies that precluded any other programs running
@@deshwitat_2
But as Treadstone was the first, they wouldn't need to reference other programs.
Hahaha...! I kept reading negative reviews about this movie that I thought I was the only one who felt otherwise! I’m so surprised there are so many like-minded fans of this movie here! I found this a really good extension after the Bourne Ultimatum, a shame really, that there’s no other follow-up.
AGREED! THIS IS MY FAVORITE ONE!
It works so well as a stand alone movie. I loved the super soldier intersection of government/corporate/military. Just because Bourne was in the title doesn’t mean you need Matt Damon.
As a now old U.S. Recon Marine vet who did two tours in Vietnam this is the best Bourne movie IMHO.
Most underrated Bourne film ever! I loved this movie
I actually really enjoyed this movie. Wished there had been another and/or a crossover with Matt Damon's Bourne.
A crossover would be great
@@TSnowy23 You mean the one with Richard Chamberlain (1988 film)? some people believe Matt was the first Bourne.
Agreed. This was a good one. As you say, definitely should have followed up with more cross-over instead of making the awful Jason Bourne, which I tried 3 times to watch only to turn it off every time. His story had reached a conclusion, an excellent one at that. I just couldn't get interested.
@@_Everyone__ I actually had no idea there was a previous Bourne movie and I pride myself on my movie knowledge.
Edit: Oh, that's why I didn't know about it. It was a TV movie.
@@HungryTacoBoy It was not a TV movie, it was at the movie theaters.
Sometimes it IS actually worth dealing with Norton. Great performance here!
Character actors are usually hard to deal with or so I have heard. Norton being a great and underrated one.
I don't recall a single movie he was bad in tbh
@@unom8 maybe The Hulk. But I blame Marvel. That was a horrible movie
He was excellent in Primal Fear with Richard Gere, so devious. Enjoyed Rounders with Matt Damon. Of course, anyone who married Selma Hayek has my profound respect.
@@jerrytaylor4078 I just google that. He dated Hayek, but I didn't know that either.
This movie is highly underrated,
I love this movie so much I'm still watching it in 2023.
this was the best Bourne film in my opinion. the only one i find myself watching over and over
Jeez, same here. My husband introduced me to this film when it came out on DVD, maybe late 2012 or early 2013. Been watching it ever since. I think this is the best Bourne film because I don't watch the others like I watch this one. Seen all of them though... except the last one.
@@t2shorty I wish they would do a sequel to this
I think this actor is better, more humam
@@apv20092010 Agreed.
I love this movie. It’s the only one that doesn’t bore the hell out of me
I saw this in a theater when it first came out. Loved it. Jeremy Renner is a fantastic actor and, in my opinion, this is the best Bourne film. I'm assuming it didn't do well enough at the box office for a sequel, which is such a shame.
I wouldn't rate it as the best but I do really like it and for me it has been the most re-watchable "Bourne" film.
@@RoninNZ lol watchable? Christ every one of them is eminently watchable
@@mottthehoople693 Oh, I agree. I just like the tone of this one the most and have gone back to it more often than the other films.
Renner as an agent was awesome! I absolutely loved this movie. Too bad all sides didn't want to move further with more.
Absolute travesty that we didn’t get a Damon and Renner “Bourne” pair up! That would have been an epic film with some serious tension, brilliant fight sequences, good writing and plot development. Missed golden opportunity Hollywood, missed golden opportunity!
Oh, yuk. I would hate that. They're both powerful, strong actors - trying to shoehorn them into the same movie would be less than the sum of the parts......
Yep, instead we got the astonishingly bad POS that was "Jason Bourne".
@@danguee1 Why can't two powerful actors just make the movie better? I've seen plenty of movies with two great actors sharing the screen admirably.
@@subutai8392 fo sho
ah; "maybe" who would be "robin" and who "batman"/.
The reason why this film is an unappreciated gem,is because it gave the audience a different look on the different programs that were going on.
Renner lost a lot of goodwill from the audience, he was a bad choice.
@@hermitally419 I disagree i think he was perfect for this role, if anyone was miscast it's Edward Norton as Eric Byer
It would’ve been much better had they not tried to change the premise of the whole series. Bourne went from a somewhat plausible story of an ultra highly trained operative to a group of people who had drugs tested on them.

You don't know 1% of what the CIA and "friends" are really doing research on - then OR right now! But be thankful, because if you did, you'd probably be dead! People like you who think you know so much when really you don't know sh!t make me sick! Do the world a favor.
Of all the Bourne movies i only bought this one. These actors and actresses did an outstanding job . Too bad there's no sequel
I so agree. Really wanted a sequel.
Might be my favorite from the entire series in fact it is my favorite
This is my favorite Bourne film
Still say this was very well done. Would love to see a sequel to this as oppose to anymore Jason Bourne sequels.
wth is "outcome" and who /what/how do they do?
I thought it was well done too. Just the stunt double actions scenes were bad.
lol damon is bourne....Ill take him any day...not saying this is bad its not its fantastic
Absolutely agree, but I don't believe it made as much money as they wanted so I don't think we'll be getting any sequels, which is a pity.
Or to Cross reference Renner's character so that there stories intertwine.
I absolutely loved this movie, more so than the other movies with Damon!!
I think this is my favorite of the Bourne films. 👍
Oh my goodness, the fellow at the cabin is that fellow from Ex Machina and Annihilation - Oscar Isaac - it just all clicked when I heard his voice in the above video - I suddenly recognised him then went ferreting about in imdb and found he's in many movies I can't get out of my head - no wonder the scenes with Renner and him at the cabin stayed with me - two fine actors playing off each other and making even more from the total.
not to mention star wars , xmen and Dune.
Issac impressed me with his short part in this. A good actor emotes with his face.
Reneer is a solid actor and this movie was really good
IRONICALLY one of the BEST of the BOURNE Movies
This is a great movie, I was wishing for a sequel!
Ditto
A Jason Bourne/Aaron Cross crossover movie would have been amazing.
This was a great movie, I wish they would have made more with him!!!
Indeed.I was hoping for the same thing to happen. I like Renner very much. Can't stand Damon.
The scene in this movie, in the lab, where that lab dude goes postal is tense af.
The best Bourne so far!
One of my favorites in the series, with good writing and a strong cast. The short timeframe really keeps the tension up, and it's just cool to see the sort of behind the scenes fall-out of something like the Treadstone reveal. This may be the only Bourne film that doesn't fit with the Screen Junkies observation that the plot of the Bourne films is always the same.
renner was so good as aaron cross i am glad that he will reprise his role in a different bourne movie
One of the few movies I can watch over and over and be entertained each time!
Much better than any of the Matt Damon incarnations of the Bourne series. The action sequences are better filmed, and the cinematography is superior. Story pacing and fitting of the many strands is extremely well done so that even an idiot can understand what's going on. This is the best in the Bourne series, by far, and the only one I can stand to watch more than once.
To be fair it came out a full 10 years after the first Bourne film. I agree it is the best one though
Still surprises me when I saw the hate for this movie. I'd love to see Renner in more Bourne Saga movies. Guy could easily get his own trilogy.
Bourne Legacy and Body of Lies are pretty much my favorite movies in this genre
The writing in the first half was simply brilliant.
Always loved this movie, would love a sequel to this than anymore Jason Bourne films
Best action series ever in my opinion
Excellent and Outstanding Movie.
"You wanna wake up and see this on CNN?" Like that would happen today....
Seems jeremy in the snow with a gun is a great combo. 2 great movies.
still waiting for that sequel! but this is already a great stand alone. i dont even know how many times i’ve rewatched this movie hahaha
Get better Renner! This exploration of the Bourne universe was a masterpiece! I’m not into avengers but you were great in this!
My favorite Bourne movie---and I love them all (except "Jason Bourne"). This bears many re-viewings; every scene is great. Tony Gilroy is a master. I just discovered that many of my favorite films were written by him.
Love this movie! First 30 minutes...wow...canon/missile scene just wow! Fav of Bourne series
LOL..."You going to pretend you don't know I'm here?"
This move comes to live now. Means more to us now than ever.
Watched it, loved it and bought the complete series.
I comment two to four times a year.. It's not a wise thing to do too much commenting because it cheapens commentary.. But Edward Norton is one of best male or female actors in the last 30 years. Good guy, bad guy, lead, supporting, and on and on. He embraces challenge and not the current acceptance. All my family and friends have become big admirers. Watch him when he is not the center of focus in a scene. He is still par excellence. A great craftsmen.
1:27 Terrifying that the news might find out something going on. My gosh, those unbiased, honerable news agencies demanding answers, the pubilc riveted. Yes, I can really see why that possibility would stop them in their tracks.
There was a time in this country, when such considerations were critical.
Today .. not so much. We traded our values & principles in for a higher GDP. Such is the outcome.
Edward Norton, this is one of my favourite scenes of his.
This is the best Bourne.
Renner nailed it.
Damon 'Bought a Zoo'.
Awesome movie, wish Renner did more.
Love how they call it a platform, its people mate ...
This was the best Bourne movie. I know it doesn't have it titular character, and it departs from the rest of the trilogy, but that's its brilliance. This movie really felt like a Bush- era geopolitical thriller.
Great movie, loved Jeremy Renner in it.
This was the best of the bunch. Yeah it may not be perfect, but the performance by Jeremy Renner was outstanding. The pace of the movie is perfect and there are enough twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat. Especially interesting were the technical tasks he had to perform to outwit his opposition. I found it to be better than the others. They were good. But this was better. One of my all time favorites.
👌👍👍👍
There is room in there for a wrap-up film. Wish they would see that. This Bourne film is a thrilling delight right up there with the rest.
I think the mistake these guys in Hollywood made was when they decided to make "Jason Bourne" ( w/Matt Damon) they should have had Aaron Cross and Bourne link up and join forces? Aaron would have been looking for Bourne and would find him. Those two working together to get Pamela Landy free from wherever they were keeping her locked up. Bourne should have been determined to rescue her because of his appreciation for what she did for him.
That would work, though better I think as a sequel to this movie. This movie was necessary to introduce Aaron Cross and get him weaned off the stims so he could operate fully independently. Then he links up with Bourne in the next movie, both of them able to operate at max effectiveness without the stims.
It would have been too much like Renner s role in mission impossible
It’s so sad that they worked on building up the “Bourn” universe to just give up on it .
They had something pretty cool starting here :(
Totally underrated, under appreciated film. It’s my favorite of all the Borne movies, including the brilliant original film. For the genre, nothing is as good. It ranks with Ronin and Heat in my opinion. I just don’t get why it was so under appreciated….?
This is actually my favourite of the series. Loved the way it complemented the first three movies. It would of been great to see Damon and Renner together.
That is a beautiful red Alpha Arcteryx jacket!
I absolutely LOVED this movie!!! I think it was the second best after the original. 🤩 star studded film 🤩
This film, over time, has really aged better than that huge disappointment Jason Bourne. Universal had a compelling thing going with Legacy’s Aaron cross, the “improved” assassin, possibly running headlong into the first one.
money and ego
"Your going to pretend im not here"
Me: oh dear... the voices are back...
This is my favorite Bourne. Loved it
Love the ‘Predator’ sound as Renner walks past Isaac hiding up the tree
This guy is trying to hide in the snow and is wearing a bright red jacket. Realistic military evasion tactics.
My understanding is Matt began to disagree with the studio about the character Bourne and felt he was irreplaceable. So the studio made this movie to prove a point. Point was made so Matt got in line for the 4th Jason movie.
Thanks. That makes sense.
But this want Paul Greengrass ! But your point is very valid.
By far the best of the bunch
I really liked this flick. My 2nd favorite of the Bourne franchise after the original Bourne identity!
Best of the Bourne series.
One of the best Bourne movies..wish there was another with renner
horrible movie..as bad as Plynouth cars
This was, by far..the best Bourne movie and Renner's character had so much more imagination than Damon's ("who am I?") Bourne portrayal.
Absolutely top class movie. Never miss a chance to binge few of the scenes from this movie.
"Where'd you find this..."..."CZcams" LOL
the first three films with matt damon are awesome , still have yet to see this one . looks like i need too .
My favorite Bourne movie.
Hollywood has some creative liberty in these films. However, some of these ideas, I feel, come directly from actual events that our govt would rather keep under wraps.
I don't know if at this point it would be any actual govt. vs a private entity. Such as Blackwater/Academi - billions of dollars, people willing to volunteer to be enhanced super soldiers. And you have to ask, who would you lobby for to cover major f*ck ups? Or you could just change your name like Blackwater.
Thanks for putting this up. I have it on blu-ray and really need to watch it again. Too much work! Lol. What they did was very clever, same general plot but a completely different storyline. This is probably more in line with the books, the meds, the science, slightly darker tone, etc. But maybe too much for people to get their head around at the time. Of course there would’ve been many agents still in active duty so this sort of movie made perfect sense as another one in the series. Shame it didn’t do too well, but along with all the others they are great movies and I enjoy all of them. Well acted, well written, and well made.
A really great movie......a stand alone masterpiece 👏 🙌 👌 ❤️ ✨️ 😍 👏
its a garbage flick
Wouldn't mind a sequel, maybe both characters and respective actors (Renner and Damon). It could be an incredible story.
Why is the agent wearing red in the snow..?🙁
When he don't want to be found..? 🤔
I'll rewatch this movie for the umpteenth time that rather see a brand new Marvel movie. T'was after this movie I became endeared to J. Renner.
This one was actually one of my favorite. Then ending was nothing special but the action was awesome and the way it flowed kept you enraged
The Bourne trilogy is good action movies, but this is a Thriller, One of the best.
I honestly like Aaron Cross more than Jason Bourne. Would love to see a sequel to this movie. Maybe a Bourne movie where they arent always on the run from the Government 🤣
this was the best of bourne
"You're Going to Pretend You Don't Know I'm Here?" "well i rang the doorbell." (3 shots fired earlier)
The best Bourne movie ever.
The irony of that office conversation about Jason Bourne and yet they made the exact same mess with Aaron Cross.
You all can man crush on Renner all you want, but me? Rachel Weiss is all I need. Just sayin'.
Yes.
A Weiss decision
Count me among the people who would have liked a Matt Damon/Renner crossover. This movie was great and it's a shame they didn't do more with Renner's plotlines.
great movie. meshes nicely with the others. I've got them all in 4k.
awesome.. that was astounding scene....
