I’ve lost 63 lbs in 6 months by IF 16/8 and 1-2 x weekly 20/4. Helped my inflammation and finally initiated real weight loss results. Drinking a lot of water also makes a big difference for me. ⭐️Lean meats, healthy fats and keeping complex carbs under control. It’s that simple.

I’ve been IF for 3 years. It absolutely works. However calories in do not equal calories out. Weight gain/ loss is hormonal. You said it - it’s about insulin - insulin is the hormone that regulates fat storage. Keep this hormone low and you can eat the same or more calories still lose weight. It’s about insulin sensitivity which is very individual. A lot of metabolisms have been wrecked by the low calorie hypothesis. Thankfully we have more science coming out - Dr Jason Fung, is an excellent start. Thanks for highlighting this WOE.

I've been doing IF for over a year. It does seem to help, but I have spent my large portions of my life either fasting for days at a time or having a very restricted calorie intake. Now in my later years, I'm finding that losing belly fat is nearly impossible. I've had a couple of coaches tell me I'm not eating enough. I'm still working on what works for me, but I will definitely look at Dr. Jason Fung. I do think I've ruined my metabolism. I almost never feel hungry no matter how long it has been since I have eaten. It seems my body just goes into starvation mode and shuts down. I'm sure I'm not the only woman who has experienced this. Thank you for sharing this information.

I am currently using MyFitnessPal app to track what I'm eating and it keeps telling me I'm not eating enough. I had my calorie intake set for 1200 calories and moved it down to 1000, and still sometimes don't hit it especially if I worked out that day. So do you have any answers. Im Trying to lose 20lbs and I'm eating very healthy but the scale is barely moving. Maybe a pound a week 🤨

I’ve lost 12 lbs in 2 months doing “clean” intermittent Fasting-IF! I have learned that you do not set your insulin in motion when you clean fast. I drink black coffee (no sweetener, creamer, diet drinks...), plain iced tea, water, & mineral water only. That way, and this is key, it does not start the insulin into my bloodstream. Because at that point, then I would not be burning fat but burning glucose.Defeats the purpose! I had put on belly and body weight especially during COVID-19 quarantine. Nothing was working. Then I came across Ryan and Kim Smith, “Unbelievable Freedom” and their IF journey which led me to Gin Stephens, “Delay Don’t Deny and “Fast Feast Repeat” books and her IF journey, as well as, her Fasting Stories podcasts and Facebook groups...and then Dr. Jason Fung who wrote the “obesity code” and other books!! he has helped over a thousand people in Toronto not only lose weight but help them with not having to take diabetes medications anymore. At first I was not sure if it was working but when I took my measurements the second time about five weeks in, I had lost 1 inch off the bust, 1 inch off the waist and 3 inches off the hips and had only gone down a few pounds! It is because my body was and is doing what they call “body re-compositioning.” I wish I had done this years ago! It’s a lifestyle NOT A DIET! I love the sleep-full nights, energy and clarity! I do 16/8, 18/6 and 20/4. Not only do I eat pretty much whatever I want, with no guilt, I have had ice cream and some carbohydrates and have still lost weight. It’s not about what you eat, although you don’t want to go crazy, it’s about WHEN you eat. That’s it! If I can do this so can you!

I did a ton of research on IF myself and also made a video on it, and I agree with almost everything you say. There are definitely a ton of benefits to intermittent fasting, especially shown in animal studies
And though there are not many studies done in humans and IF, your experience speaks for itself
    You look absolutely glowing !

I am 68 and have been intermittent fasting for 2 years now. I lost 35 lbs, was able to get off b/p meds and have other NSVs (non scale victories). Have you heard of Gin Stevens and her book "Fast, Feast, Repeat"? she gives a great explanation of why you need to clean fast, (black coffee, black tea, and unflavored water) and how the fasting works. The fasting gave me the weight loss, energy increase, and then the desire to exercise. I am glad you are espousing it.
I have just found your videos and am really enjoying them. I'm on Day 3 of the 24 day Workout Challenge. I'm not new to walking workouts as have several much loved Dvds from 2 different exercise gurus. But I was getting tired of their routines and yours have made me look forward again to getting the move on. Plus my new computer lacks a Dvd/CD drive and CZcams is the answer.

I added one hour per week of fasting, so week 1 I did 13/11, week 2-14/10, week 3-15/9, week 4-16/8. I think this helped my body adjust slowly. When I tried too many fasting hours too quickly I was light headed 😵‍💫 and hangry! I lost 20 lbs in 3 months and feel so much better! My blood pressure went down too. I've recently started this as I am struggling to lose my last 14lbs of weight loss; I was already down 32lbs but the last 14 were proving incredibly difficult to shift.
I've been doing IF for nearly a week now. I stumbled a bit to begin with but this video straightened me out.
I'm already down nearly 7lbs in less than a week! Fantastic! Thanks Schellea 👍👍🥰🥰🥳🥳

Intermittent Fasting is really the best thing I have ever tried, and together with exercising - which I love, and good clean food....I actually feel better than I have for years....am going to try the broccoli sprouts too....thanks for doing all the work (research, lol)

Yes, I love the necklace!! I've been "sort of" IF for the last few months, but I can't decide if I am seeing any positive results. I am a sometime performer, and I've always tried not to eat after a show, so I usually stop eating by 7. With IF, I adjusted that to not eating after 6 pm. I've been doing an eating window of 10-6 during the week. Still not eating past 6 pm on the weekends, but I do sometimes eat before 10 am, say if hubs and I are going for a hike on a Saturday morning. :)

So true as we get older the what and when we eat is not like when we were in our 20s. Ugh. Also even more difficult if we have poor eating habits, like late night snacking, emotional eating, eating when not hungry. People who have these habits on a consistent basis have weight loss blocks. Those habits/blocks catch up with us as we get older too. That's why it's so important to learn to remove those poor habits and weight loss blocks from your subconscious so you can get eating under control, relieve stress and lose the weight. Thanks for sharing your intermittent fasting tips and using it for longevity...using EFT tapping can help with making it through the fasting window with the hunger.

RD Vasquez I’ve lost 12 lbs in 2 months doing “clean” intermittent Fasting-IF!

I’ve never been a good “dieter”, so if this works or me it can work for anyone. The best thing about doing keto with the IF is that the healthy fats and protein I’m eating is so satiating and makes IF a breeze!

What was really important to me is making sure I get enough protein and to eat very balanced every 3-4 hours during my eating window. It is helping with not losing muscle mass anymore. Definitely, lost weight, inflammation and belly fat.

Hello all! Isn't Schellea Fowler the epitome of fabulous 50s? I just adore her. She is like the Audrey Hepburn of Australia! I've read over all the comments and it's so nice to see a group of ladies that are so kind and complimentary.
I am not an expert on IF but I hope to be celebrating some lbs lost soon. Some of you asked about what to drink. While you're not fasting, pretty much anything with a meal, and water at any time. The main thing she mentioned is not to break your fast with anything that will cause a spike in your metabolism....and why she recommended not having alcohol unless it's with a meal. Alcohol turns to sugar in your body. My chiropractor was also a nutritionist and she said to think of what you drink as bathing your kidneys in whatever you drink. My guess is coffee and tea may be okey but water would be preferable during the time you are fasting. I used to drink a lot of tea with stevia. I didn't gain weight, but I didn't lose it either. When I only changed the tea w/ stevia, the lbs started falling off. It's something to think about, but I'm anxious to see what Schellea says.
PS....does anyone remember back in college days when there was a rumor going around about diet Dr Pepper preventing weight loss? As it happens, it's true due to the chemical make up of DDrP.and the low cal sweetener they were using.....and probably the amount consumed. I found the same to be true of specifically the use of Stevia. Keep in mind, I thought I was being healthy to give up diet sodas and drink a LOT of cold green tea with Stevia. I ran out one day and didn't get any until about a week later. I noticed I suddenly dropped 3lbs in 8 days. From there it was a consistent gradual weight loss....losing about 60lbs. I actually prefer water now. It's like my body gets out of whack when I drink a soda or too many sweets. My Chiro said pure water also cleanses your kidneys and eliminates the fat cells that are breaking apart. The visual helped. Right now I've gained back some of my weight, so I'll be increasing my fasting time. It's about balancing our lifestyle. Great topic.

Hi Schellea, I'm greatly enjoying your exercise videos which I began watching and workout out with when my gym closed due to the Covid-19 epidemic. You have really been a great help. Thanks.
I've been on an 18/6 intermittent fasting (IF) routine for over 6 months, thinking it could help with weight maintenance and improve my sleep. Not eating till noon was surprisingly easy to get used to and I exercise in fasting mode. I am disappointed that my sleep is as bad or worse than before fasting-- hard to fall asleep, hard to stay asleep. I'm often woken up with leg and foot cramps despite having a diet rich in electrolytes (sodium, calcium, potassium, chloride, phosphate, and magnesium). Just want your readers to know that, at least in one instance, IF has not led to better sleep. I continue with it because it's a great way to stop nighttime snacking, my big downfall.

Wonderful video. Thank you 🙏. I also have been doing IF for about a year and it really works! I drink bone broth-that I make using pasture raised animals and water with lemon, or add chia seeds when fasting. I also seem to have the hardest time in the evening-especially during the summer months. I started doing this about a year ago. I started out on a 21 day bone broth plan using Dr Kellyann Petrucci plan and cookbook. It was so helpful, i lost weight, and felt good!! I now IF doing 16 hrs of no food and a few times a week i will then make a smoothie for after 1:00 and then eat an evening meal!! Otherwise I will have 2 meals the other days. Thanks again for your information and I always enjoy listening, as you have such wonderful energy. You look really good, have such a joyous mental attitude, and also look really healthy 🤗☮️❤️

This is all very interesting I have a lot of thoughts and questions but the first question I wanted to ask you is it has always been said that eating every few hours keep your metabolism running so that you are not ever starving yourself because if you go into starvation mode it was said that your metabolism would shut down so this is the part that's confusing me. Any thoughts on this.? Thanks in advance I love everything that you're doing on your Channel

You halo me to think of how important it is to look and feel healthy at a older age. I am going to do the 12 hour fast, because I nibble to much at night when I am bored. And also cut out processed foods. You give good advice , thank you for sharing it .....❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️

I began eating a lot less carbs and sugar and felt better. Then I eliminated processed foods and felt even better. But when I added intermittent fasting it kicked everything into high gear! In two months I've lost a lot of weight (mostly in my post-menopausal tummy), I sleep better, my mood is better, my energy is up, and I'm off 4 prescription medicines! Joint pain, skin issues, and other inflammatory like plantar faciitis disappeared and my hair is growing and my skin is glowing. Why the heck didn't I do this years ago!? Anyone considering fasting...go for it! Just do what this beautiful lady recommends and slowly close your eating window. I eat just one meal a day and I'm never hungry until it's time for me to eat anyway. It's called OMAD (for one meal a day) and it's changed my life. I will eat this way forever!
