I tried the Laneige lip mask after three fave ytubers raved about it. After a few weeks I was asking myself, “What’s the hype over this product?!” It didn’t cause any issues, but it wasn’t anything special either.

I use the grapefruit Lineage lip mask. I love it. It lasts forever so I've had it for about a year no issues. I use it just at night and no more waking up in the morning with dry chapped lips.

Oh I'm going to check out those headbands. I cut off all of my length of hair before it fell out from chemotherapy. I wanted to donate it to Locks of Love. Much better to go for an awesome cause than my trash can. I received a sweet letter from them saying that my hair was made into a wig for a 4 year old girl with Leukemia. That warmed my heart and I've donated twice since ❤️. I encourage everyone to do this at least once if they are able to do so.

Some may say dr drays skin is so lovely and younger looking because of sunscreen and self care, i for one say its because she is unproblematic and thats just how your skin ages when you are unproblematic
I had the Laneige lip sleeping mask and loved it until I developed a contact dermatitis to it. It was painful! I threw it away and used cerave healing ointment for two weeks, and finally my lips healed 😥

I clicked so fast! The Laniege lip sleeping mask is working better for me than any lip moisturizer I have tried. I’m bracing for the inevitable admonition against fragrance 😊.
I wear the Laneige day and night. I don’t really taste anything. It’s thick and it really works for me. On a side note I will also use the CeraVe ointment and just plain Vaseline. Those 3 are my favorites. On a third side note... I use sunscreen every day because of this amazing women! Thank Doc for all your amazing recommendations 💗

2) Thank you for talking about the lip mask! I honestly feel like my lips felt good for about 5 mins after I took it off in the morning and then they started getting really scaly and dry afterward, I figured it was just me!
3) do you have any suggestions for nurses/ hospital workers that have developed an allergy to the hand sanitizers and hand soaps they use in the hospital? I feel that this might be starting to happen to me and its driving me nuts!

The Cerave healing ointment has stayed next to my bed as I’m dealing with a cold. I apply it to my lips at night but also around my nostrils to help with the irritation and dryness caused by blowing my nose. Such a great product!

I recently started using Lansinoh Lanolin Cream as a lip balm. It's intended for nursing mother's but it's a nice, thick ointment that creates a shiny, glossy seal and lasts for hours on my lips. No dye, no fragrance, no nonsense. Not sure how derms feel about lanolin but so far I really like it.
My fave lip balm is the vaseline lip therapy original in the little squeezy tube. It lasts so long on the lips and keeps them plush and moisturised. Petrolatum is honestly the best thing to put on lips.
Coming from a chemistry/math major background, I love how informative your videos are. As others have mentioned previously ….. I would kill to see you come out with a skincare product line of your own!!!!!
Found “Lansinoh” nipple cream is the best lip balm. Nothing else has worked for me. It absorbs so nicely and no more cracked dry lips. It even came with a tiny purse size tube. Thanks for the Recommendations for foot and hand care. Happy Sunday. Love and hugs Sherry

I was weary about trying Laneige products because of the fragrances but they’ve been good so far!! I’m in love with the Water Bank sleeping mask which doesn’t smell much. I could definitely do without the fragrance in the lip mask BUT my lips were peeling and I constantly use Aquaphor and I got a sample of the Laneige lip mask to try and it cleared the peeling in one night!! It was amazing. I find the flavor/ scent dissipates rather quickly with the lip mask

Laneige lip mask really works for me, at night i use it as a mask does an amazing job (never wiped it off because never felt like it, it didnt make sense), daily like a fast moisturizer, and the best use is for priming the lips for makeup, it makes lip glosses last much more

I thought it was overpriced vaseline but after trying a sample I have actually purchased and emptied several of these. It is possible that the formulation is pleasant to me so I am consistent with it, but whatever it is it is my go-to lip product, I wear it in the day too. I don't like all Laneige products but their water clay minipore mask is amazing too.
I really love the kerasal foot ointment!! I use it as a foot mask here and there and it makes my feet soooo smooth and soft.

This is one of my few products where I tolerate flavor/coloring. The results I get from using this product are so significant I was asked by a friend whether I had lip filler in my upper lip after the first week of use. I struggle with medicine induced dehydration and unless I drink 100+ oz a day every day, the skin on my face and lips start to experience effects of dehydration. For years I've used petrolatum but for some reason, this gives me far better results. I appreciate your review and reference to alternate 'truly clean' products - will give the theraplex a go as a better alternative.

I tried this lip mask as well bc I kept hearing how wonderful this makes your lips feel. Anyhow, I was underwhelmed and couldn't understand all the hype. Right now I use the inexpensive Aquaphoe Healing Ointment and I LOVE THIS STUFF! PS. I just had eye surgery so please ignore spelling errors. ❤❤💖
I used it too and hate it now. Made my lips drier and I got sore lumps on my bottom lip. It’s going in the bin. Wish I knew your opinion before I bought it, I got sucked in by all the hype! Dr Dray all the way 🥰

But I agree with you that there should not be dyes or fragrance in a lip sleeping mask just to make it marketable or likeable.
I've been loving the 'Aveeno Cracked Skin Relief CICA Ointment' as a lip balm. This product contains Microcrystalline Wax, and other great ingredients. Thick, occlusive, fragrance-free, and as a male consumer, I can appreciate the low shine this gives on the lips. Excellent product!

I use tretinoin and layer that on my entire face as the last step. It is the only thing that does not sting my face, even Cerave stings. So, heel crack cream on my face LOL.

In the past when I used fragranced products it use to break me out like crazy. Then I switched over to fragrance free products and I have never had a problem since. Whatever Lineage lip mask claims are. It would sway me to risk trying it.

I started to get bumps on my lips after using the laneige sleeping mask. Definitely going to purchase cerave or aquaphor ointment.
Oh my gosh when you talk about pushing the cuticles back and clipping them , it causes so much pain when I listen to that. In the past I've received at least two gift cards to nail salons and I said absolutely do not do anything to my cuticles, it pains me just thinking about that. I am so glad I did say that because at the time I really didn't know that the cuticles are there to protect but I should have known that anything God places on me is there for a reason. Back to watching the video! :-)
If you habitually have moisturized cuticles then clipping the cuticles are just too likely to harm you. But people with way too dried out hands and cuticles can get abnormally long cuticles that splits and peels off in strips, and can even get infected. Similar to how people with too dry heels can get too thick and cracked heels. You need to trim off the excess skin and start moisturizing from that point onwards to heal the heel/cuticle
Sable 711 yeah it is common practice to do that, but can lend itself to a nasty paronychia

Gels never look good unless your cuticles are pushed back before the gels are applied. It hurts. I haven’t had gels for 8 years because they cured me of biting my nails. In fact, I find the thought of biting my nails to be repellent now. So they served their purpose.

Hi! Cerave ointment is my favourite lip gloss! I find that the other products with fragrance dry my lips and give me chapping problems. Willa or Wella... looks great in her new clothes! I know that it’s overly expensive, but I really like the Sugar Advanced Lip Therapy plain lip balm from the brand “fresh.” I have big, honkin’ lips naturally and it helps with keeping them hydrated. Also, I have saved so much time and money not going to a salon for hair and nails. Long ago as a teenager, I did an internship at a hospital and saw a woman come in with a terrible infection from a jacked up nail salon visit and I swore then never to go. I love this lip mask. I have eczema, even on my face and for whatever reason the sleep mask has helped the dryness on my lips. I use it at night and during the day. Scented things usually bother me, but this doesn’t. I am on my 3rd one.
I one of the few people that doesn’t like Laneige lip mask, I don’t like the feel on my lips. My favorite is the CeraVe healing ointment, picked up a free sample size Then bought the full size tubes.
Dr Dray, I came here to say I totally bought into the hype for this Laneige Lip Mask (since it's got like 9000+ 5 star reviews on Sephora in my geographical area).
After I purchased the order I watched your review, and I got a bit worried but I was like, if 9000+ people are giving positive reviews then maybe this video is a little on the conservative side! I've never had any allergic reaction to any lip product before, but safe to say after using this lip mask for 3 nights I started developing an irritation on my lips. My lips started swelling and a lesion-type sore was developing so it became painful for me to move my lips/lick them!
My goodness your reviews are on poiiiint!!!!! To everyone out there - don't always buy into the hype :). I found the product disappointing after all, wasn't that different from my nights without it. It's pretty much like an over-glorified Vaseline, but I'd say vaseline is probably even better.

Balea is a generic, store brand in Germany (dm is a super popular drugstore) and the products are incredible and very inexpensive!
The Laneige lip mask actually makes my lips feel drier and makes them peel. I really don't get the hype. Good old cheap Vaseline really is the best for me.

For some reason Vaseline always makes my lips super dry but the Cera ve healing ointment works really nice which is a shame because Cera ve ointment is like 15 dollars as opposed to Vaseline at around 3 dollars😂

I’ve been using some samples of Le Labo lip balm that my husband gets on his flights when he travels. It’s pretty good and it’s unscented. A little goes a long way so the small tube lasts.

I tried a sample of the Laneige lip mask a long time ago, and I wasn't impressed. I finished it up but never purchased it. It wasn't any better than any other lip treatment. I like the Bite beauty one better b/c it's thick, but that also has fragrance/flavor in it so once I'm done with that I'm switching to Vanicream. I just found you a week ago from Jen Luvs Reviews and I've been binging ever since. I returned my sunday riley vit c serum and the tatcha dewy cream b/c of you and replaced it with your recommendations. Thank you so much!!

I have received one of these as a sample, and it didn’t do anything for me. But thought BITE lip mask worked better. Seemed to reset any chapped lips I may get during our Texas “winter”. But, I have been following you and thinking more about how I can prevent chapped lips. Thank you for all that you do!

I love it! I can finally wear lipstick. My lips have improved a lot. But I also exfoliate my lips a couple of times a week. I just put it on with my finger and don’t bother wiping it off in the morning.

Yes, sad but true. I wanted and received the laneige lip mask for Christmas . My lips are dry. I wasn't sure it was the mask, but after your video and other people comments. It is the only thing that makes sense

Dr Dray, would you consider making a video on colorants in skincare, their names (how they appear on labels), and which ones can be problematic?
Burt's Bees has a similar lip treatment. No colorant and less expensive. I use it at night and no problems. I could just as easily put on any greasy balm and have the same result though.

I have larger lips and they’re noticeably so much smoother, the stickiness dries to a softness (I apply 2 hours before I sleep), it feels like a thick gloss when applying and whilst it dries, they feel lovely the next day and I suffer usually from chapped lips and I haven’t had any skin peel and I don’t need to exfoliate them as much now☺️♥️
I love the lanaige lip mask. It is the only thing that works for my chronically chapped lips.
I've been using the cerave ointment in place of the laneige, but my only complaint is that when I wake up in the morning I cant even tell the cerave was ever there and with the laneige I can still feel it on my lips. I need something thicker! May have to try the theraplex!
