Current Gen Lexus GX 460, Lexus NX 350h, Lexus ES 350, Lexus ES 300h, IS 350, IS 500.....if the VIN number starts with the letter "J" it's made in Japan. Most reliable cars and suvs from Lexus in my opinion. Acura & BMW are also fine but probably not that reliable compared to Lexus. I would pass on the Audi. Good video upload 👍👍

"Shhh. It's all wheel drive" 😂😂. Nothing beats a Toyota reliability. Pair that with the luxury of lexus and its pure perfection. Honda isn't too far behind for sure, but Toyota maintains that reputation. My 99 crv actually made it to 301k before the engine died. I dropped a different engine in and it's at 327k almost now.

I have a Toyota and Lexus trained Independent mechanic that can service and repair my car, if needed. Changed the oil at 1,000 miles just like Scotty Kilmer and The Car Care Nut on CZcams recommend with Liqui Moly 0w16 Special Tec AA oil and a Toyota OEM filter for the engine model. I plan on changing the oil every six-months or 5,000 miles, whichever occurs first regardless of mileage. 🤔

For worldwide, my top pick is Lexus. BMW is #2 in my opinion but my best pick for a luxury car brand. As for Mercedes-Benz and Audi, well, not much to say at least. What about the other 3 Asian luxury car divisions that aren't sold worldwide which are Acura, Genesis and Infiniti?

    • @ECPP

I would look at Acura as well but personally I will not drive a Genesis or Hyundai or Kia as reliability has been up and down via big issues. Thanks Devan, you are right on the BMW experience and the B58 is their sweet spot for performance/economy/performance. This engine should give great service life but I would still do a PPI and even better if you can get some extended warranty. Service history is important, but places I would be watching are the mechanical water pump for possible weeps but not a terrible fix, coolant leaks anywhere else, and check valve covers if possible as well as the oil filter housing should be dry from both oil and coolant. Other than that, any car can have issues but generally these are pretty stout and the miles are not bad on the vehicle.

I love the looks of the Acuras but they don't have the guts to back them up. I really like the GS-F but it's held on to its value just a little too much to fit my wallet.
Honestly, I was really surprised by the reliability and value that I found in my XTS VSport. Stay away from the 3.6 NA V-6 and that car is bomb proof. It's got real leather which is an expensive upgrade for the Germans and a heads up display that only comes in upscale trims of the other brands, if at all.
Before I bought it, I never would have thought that I'd talk up a Cadillac like this.
Mind you I've still got my eye on a Jaaaaaggggg for the next car. Probably a 10-14 XFR or a late XKR or early F-Type R.
Probably slightly less reliable and more expensive but who cares when you're having fun lol.

I had a deposit down on an IS 350 F-Sport. The blue was much prettier than that Acura. But I ended up getting an Audi A5 instead. The biggest factor was the hatchback and the extra space in the rear. You just can't get that in many sedans. The 350 had a normal small trunk. The A5 also gets much better gas mileage (I average 28, about 5 mpg better than the Lexus). Both have a very smooth ride and plush interiors (I will admit the Lexus seats were hands-down the best I've ever felt). But I liked the engine in the Audi better than the Lexus. It's hard to describe, but the Lexus just felt "thick" and sluggish compared to the Audi. Also, some of the tech is a little dated in the 350, like their touchpad on the center console. I am very happy with my A5, but I do miss that beautiful blue coat on the Lexus.

While on the subject of reliability, I am sick of hearing from BMW, MB or other fans of "German engineering" about how boring these "tin can" Toyotas are, with plastic dominating interiors. If they are so "tin can" why do they have a much hire safety rating than any German turd on wheels? What is boring is sitting in the BMW Service Dept waiting for your wallet to be executed. As far as plastic, at least Toyota uses plastic in the interior, not major engine components like BMW. And then there is Toyota and Honda reliability, with basic care a Toyota can last 300-400K miles. How about a BMW, or Audi with that mileage? Maybe old-world Mercedes from decades ago could match Toyota reliability and longevity, but those days are gone! By the way, when Toyota or Honda make errors in engineering, they correct it. BMW and other German garbage just ride on their false narrative cache and continue to turn out crap from their sewer factories. Reliability in a German car is making it 70K without a major repair required.

Somehow Lexus as a brand doesn't seem to be as innovative as BMW. I'm not saying Lexus cars are boring, but BMW makes huge progress each time with new models coming out. More complex
means less reliable, but can we imagine BMW being less sophisticated. Even Acura seems to try harder than before especially with new type S line.

In my opinion, Toyota and Lexus are overvalued, even used. Most Japanese brands are quite reliable and a much better value…especially Mazda, Infiniti, even Nissan. Just don’t get the CVT’s on the Nissan’s. Plus I’ve always found the styling on Toyota/Lexus a tad askew. I have a 2020 Infiniti QX80 and it has been flawless, and RepairPal validates that, stating average annual repair cost $638, and I’ve never had that much…in my first year of ownership.
