Team Fortress 2 Characters: Good to Evil
Team Fortress 2 is a fantastic piece of gaming history. Itâs one of the greatest games Valve has ever made and itâs one of the most enduring online multiplayer games of all time with a sizable player base even after 12 years and plenty of competitors who came and went. Thereâs something here for everyone to enjoy: a timeless Pixar-like art style, fast-paced chaotic gameplay, a ludicrous degree of player customization, the lack of a price tag, and especially the characters. And weâre not just talking about Mann Coâs proud batch of mercenaries, TF2âs lore is deceptively rich with characters that span the full moral compass. A few are good, most are pretty bad, and some would take evil as a compliment. We left no stone unturned with this one- looking at the game itself along with the Meet the Team videos and the official TF2 comics so we could be as thorough as possible. Equip your favorite hat and grab a Sandvich because the mission begins in 10 seconds.

It's kinda funny how the healer is the most evil in the team, since healers are usually the people who help and save you. He does, but he has his other goals as well.

Pyro does actually oftentimes show that he knows what heâs really doing, like when he cuts off Soldierâs hand in one of the comics or how he never lights himself on fire despite it being a âgoodâ thing according to Pyro-vision.
He probably tried it once, got hurt and assumed that the greatness of the thing that came out of his trumpet was not for him, and only for others. The fact he still does it (to be the greatness to others) shows that he does want others to be happy, and that's what he sees.

While yes, it is cowardly to hide behind the mask and not reveal that spy is the father of scout, spy did make Scoutâs biggest dream become a reality. Scout spent every last dime on Tom Joneâs memorabilia, and convinced Spy to come get it at the bank (although they did get arrested). In Scoutâs final moments, Spy gave scout the speech he needed to give his son, while making sure Scoutâs end was one with content and happiness rather than confusion and sadness (since scout would be horrified if he knew spy was his dad)

When talking about Medic, if you put it this way, in End of the Line, when Heavy was going to attempt to stop the train with his bare hands, Medic showed genuine concern for him, and rushed out to help him. What did I learn? Never be alone in a room with medic.
Spy is actually a very decent guy, he's essentially Ms Pauling's emotional support in the comic, and I think he took on the disguise of Tom Jones to make Scout feel good in his last moments, because he knew Scout hates him, and he loves Tom Jones. He put his son's well being over his desire to tell him the truth here, which is a way bigger step for him than you could think if you'd only think of it as him taking on the disguise to not have to deal with scouts rejection or something.
Plus in the smissmas story he bonds somewhat with the little kid and tells him how to defend himself, which was really wholesome. His good side really shines when it's necessary, and this is perhaps why he's my absolute favourite character from TF2, because he's ironically perhaps the most selfless person at times from all of them

I love how it's actually canonical that scout was God's gift to women on earth, in TF2's universe. So bizarre lol
Given that any god scene so far could be a hallucination of a dying brain (e.g. Sniper meeting his adopted parents in heaven, which was explained by Medic to be a hallucination), ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Debatable if it's canonical or not.
Devil deals and the actual concept of souls seem to be 100% legit in this universe though.

@@dezgasting So, medic did go to hell and the detonator pen is proof that he was not hallucinating. Also, with characters like Merasmus, bombinomicon, and Old nick in the TF2 universe, God is not too far off to be considered not real.

According to the comics, sniper wasn't abandoned so much as saved from his father's stupidity.
Its really easy to understand why he tried to stop the train by himself, the whole End of the Line video clearly shows it. He has his flaws, killing Medicâs doves and not understanding how to play Chess and even taking note of Medicâs frustration from his misunderstandings. An âall brawn, no brainsâ kind of character. Its only until you realise when he goes onto the tracks that the chess pieces he previously placed first was the Queen, showing how he puts everyone else first before himself. The comics shed a lot of light on the mercs and their goodness/evilness. Even with their murder count, Scout and Sniper went to heaven after they died, which shows that they have some genuine good qualities in them. Ms Pauling went to some sort of limbo where she met with Administrator. And Medic, despite having the smallest murder count on his hands, is said to be such a monster back on Earth that he would've ended up in hell even without the contract.
Since Medic is German and was of fighting age in WW2⊠itâs possible he did some bad shit. He had to have come up with the medi-gun somehow. (He most likely only did experiments for his own personal gain so he most likely isnât a Nazi)

Pootis
Tough Guy's Toque + Funny Lines =
I am telephone
If you look at some of the stuff in game and in other things that Heavy is featured in, you'll quickly see that this 'pure-hearted soul' exists almost exclusively in the comics. While heavy is probably the most charitable of the bunch, the fact of the matter is that any excuse to hurt someone is an excuse he gladly takes, whether he is being paid or not. Also, the joke behind him giving the kid a wad of cash was more to show that Heavy earns so much money as a mercenary that he actually has no concept of how valuable it actually is. Heavy actively ENJOYS hurting people, and when given the option to do so, he doesn't pull any punches.
@@asktoybox I just looked at how he gave the kid like a grand was that he has so much money he just does whatever with it. Remember in the comics Miss Pauline was running out of weapons to bribe the mercs to keep fighting and they are basically set for life just working for Mannco since Demo was able to drown his sorrows in whiskey for months and seemed no worse for wear.

I think Soldier was rated a bit too low. Sure the manâs the perfect symbol for paranoia and lunacy; but thatâs a bit unfair as his insanity can be attributed to lead poisoning. He does get the team into trouble a lot, but he never does it with malicious intent. To quote Expiration Date:
âQuestionâ
âWhatâs your question?â
âI teleported breadâ
âWhatâ
âYOU TOLD ME TO.â
Plus outside of combat (to basically everyone but Scout who heâs a bit needlessly violent towards) heâs incredibly cheerful and friendly. His friendship with Demoman, Heavy, and Zhanna more than speak to that; even when the four of them are a bit crazy together. Lastly think of all the good heâs done:
He made a raccoon shelter purely out of the kindness of his heart (as well as his obliviousness on how Merasmus would react)
He killed Nazis on his own dime (even though itâs uncertain and he definitely started committing war crimes after 1945, I like to think that he didnât harm the innocent)
He only started to fight the RED demo when he was lied to
He never insults members of his own team seriously

On the battlefield he's the hulk off he's like Ferdinand the bull
Heâs very protective of his mom and sisters, has several degrees in literature, and can cook. I think the problem is Sasha. in a good way tho, sheâs kinda like a crazy girlfriend.

Honestly, the most "good" character is the Team Fortress Classic Medic.
Mostly because he's never said anything or appeared in the comics.
Classic. Not modern.
That statement is so true it hurts. Team Fortress 2 really needs at least one kind character.

I'd say Pyro is actually good, probably if he didn't had schizophrenia he even could not being a mercenary cause he would know what he would actually be doing and be horrorized, since as what we see in Pyro land he is probably pure-hearted
It depends on whether or not you interpret pyro land as literal or metaphorical. If itâs the former then yeah heâs probably just schizophrenic, but if itâs the latter then that means he views killing as something wholesome which isnât exactly going to get you high up on the morality scale.
I really think that Scouts visit to heaven was real, just because of how funny thatâd be, and thatâs exactly what Valve would want.
Engineer does show humility, one of his voice lines is "I AM A GOD"
"I'm a killer of man, Doc! That is the god honest truth!"
Well, might be true, but you have to remember, sarcasm exists. Even "normal" people can exaggerate sometimes and say "damn I'm a god", so.. yeah. Though it really appears that Engie might sometimes honestly think he's a god. Still I think he's just using sarcasm to hype himself up.
@@iyusuarkhan6554 I wouldn't say that it's sarcasm, because when he gets a rare spell in scream fortress he just says I am a god.

he trusts in his technology, thats all
I thought he lost his arm in some other way and the glove just hides his robot arm
@@chinsaw2727 I'd say heavy is the most sane. Sure he loves his mini gun a bit too much, and does laugh like crazy during battle, but its just because he's having fun. I'd also say pyro is sane, because it isn't is mind that's making everything look happy, but its his goggles. I think he may have just signed up to be a mercenary with a flamethrower due to liking fire, but got lost in pyro land and thought he was spreading happy bubbles of joy.
