I remember in 1982,gas was .85 gallon. I was 17 and working pt. My mom paid for my school lunch (.85) and my gas(.85). She said I was working,so I'd have to chose either gas or lunch.She'd put .85 on counter. Most days I'd take my lunch and drive.

Gas was around 27 cents a gallon, and there were gas wars if you knew what they were.
Then corporate greed took over gas pricing, and from there, oil and gas prices rose.
In the 70s of the gas rationing phase, people were allowed to fill up with 10 gallons, and there were gas lines..
I was in the Coast Guard then.
One day when I got gas the owner saw my Coast Guard decal, he asked if I was a regular or reserve.
I said active duty.
He said under the guidelines I was entitled to a full tank and I can cut in line.
I went back to my ship and over the PA, announced what I was told..
I could hear the cheering from the dock..

Good Point! I know from mentoring. Anyone around children. (where I live) If you are a Sunday school teacher. Or a mentor of a child. You have background checks. Are they going to sue churches, and mentoring programs next. Amazing!

As a black man. If I fail a background check for my FOID (firearms card) the state denies me. Can I now sue the state for this????

Just about every job I've had, they did a background check before hiring me.

The Federal Government does the exact same thing! The government SF-86 requires 7-15 years accounting of your life. Most people don't get past that.
I know a young man that had a misdemeanor at age 20, and 8 years later applied for a Federal job. The hiring manager at the agency was excited to get this qualified young man who graduated with honors in his field, and even a certification from the National Security Agency (NSA). When the background check came back, this issue showed up, and he was booted. The HR POC just said he "was a risk" that "could not be mitigated". The infraction he was pegged with had nothing to do with his potential employment.
Maybe the Federal Government can be sued for being the biggest racist/discriminator of all !!
This young man was later hired by an international manufacturing company and is now in charge of a large chunk of their Cybersecurity Division. Government's LOSS.

Why aren't we asking why a disproportionately high amount of crime is being done by such a small portion of the population. Higher crime is higher taxes for police and damage, and theft and I'm sick of paying a disproportionately higher amount of it

I have been hearing recently about not discriminating against "justice impacted" individuals. Added to the list of the other criteria you're not allowed to discriminate against. If you do, you're racist. As a matter of fact, they need to be prioritized and put toward the front of the line, so go ahead and run those checks, but that should be considered an asset if they're identified. They do want it to become illegal to protect your company and your employees against criminals. Good luck out there.

If you are an employer conducting hiring interviews, a criminal/credit background check is performed as a standard measure of "employee quality control". Say your business is selling mid-priced to expensively priced product. Now, just suppose you have, say five applicants and, three of the b/c checks returned clear while one is returned with a credit hit and, the last has a notation from a larceny conviction. Does ANYONE really expect either of the last two candidates to be hired? If you answer yes, then you should never be part of a human resources hiring team. If, however, you have a "LOGICAL AND VALID" reason to employ such people, I'd be willing to entertain your explanation. Anyone?
