This resonates. I lost both my fights in a jiu-jitsu tournament yesterday. But I'm proud that I pushed myself to sign up for the sport in the first place and that I signed up for the tournament.

Keep at it! My first tournament didn't go as well as I would have liked but I did another recently and it went a lot better. Either way it helps your game and feels good to know you stepped up by challenging yourself. I actually hate the feeling of competing, I get really anxious, but feel so good afterwards knowing I put myself in that situation regardless of the outcome.

Just a reminder that success is what you define it to be, not only net worth and material possessions. Nothing wrong with striving to be the next warren buffet if business is your passion and thats what you truly want. I just want to remind who ever reads this that is okay to want to become a teacher, nurse whatever your passion is and become great in your area. I just think this new standard is making people more ambitious instead of following there life path. Kids rarely want to become athletes for the love of the game, they want the fame and money. Play for the love of the game not the results, if not youll find your self hating the process and not enjoying the results.

You just made an incredibly important point. I see so many people consumed with their public appearance, much of which is informed by social media. It seems like so many people have lost the plot. I can tell you, as a business owner, it is absolutely not for everybody. Many people don’t have the mind or temperament to not only build a successful business but to be happy in doing so. I am not suggesting in any way that makes me a better person or more intelligent than anyone who isn’t built for it. Those people are far better at so many other pursuits than I could ever be. The salient point is that owning a business is just A path but it is absolute not THE path and these internet “entrepreneur” personalities are largely painting a delusional reality for impressionable youth. Find something that makes you feel fulfilled at the end of the day that pays enough that you don’t need to struggle with bills and lean into that.
@MK4vDubbin that is facts, when people follow their paths and work to their strengths, it just makes a world a better place. At the end of the day, if everybody were business owners, there wouldn’t be none 🤣. And thats right, its definitely people being consumed on how they want to be perceived, and the false reality social media presents.

In my experience, everyone has something to teach you, even if it's not the thing they're trying to teach you. Loneliness is more a state of mind that a physical predicament. We feel heard by others when we listen to what they have to say.

This is 100% true. I have been doing self-improvement for a while and really worked on myself, and I started to feel like an absolute king, then after I MADE even more progress on my physique, mental health, and social skills, I actually started to feel like a lot smaller of a fish as I have started moving to bigger ponds. I'll definitely remember this idea and apply it to my life. Thanks for another amazing video.
The truly successful and satisfied people I know eschew public exposure and actually enjoy living a non celebrity YT social media selfie life. They prefer privacy and solitude over Likes.

Random advice: being an entrepreneur is not for everyone. When I was like 20 I always though that I would make businesses and give it my all. I spent a year on that after university and only the realised that it's totally not for me. Now I am much happier being just a skilfull worker. And if you start investing early and with a really good plan that you stick to, money mostly will not be an issue.

Why not accomplish your goals faster? Go back to whatever you want to be after making a lot of money and then you will know true freedom.

If that truly makes him happy then good for him but I just don’t see it. I’ve already found at a much smaller scale how constantly chasing more money has done nothing for me once I was making enough to not worry about bills, had a nice house and can go out to eat to nice places whenever the girl and I want.

I remember this random YT comment about a video on Yo-yo Ma aka one of the greatest living cellists on the planet. Everyone was talking about how kind, good-natured, and humble the guy was while answering random questions about the cello from the internet. Everyone was like how can he be this proficient with his instrument yet still be this modest? Someone replied that you gotta be humble af to reach that level of expertise. You gotta have what it takes to listen to feed back and criticism to actually improve your game. Feed back and criticism aren't gonna come from the things you've already mastered. Alex is saying the same thing. If you wanna be the best, there can be no ego.

No matter how much success and money he makes, it will never fill whatever is missing in his heart. Hope he figures it out before it ruins him. Friends and family are way more important than an 8 figure portfolio. People always expect this euphoria once they reach a certain goal and realize it doesn't make them happy and ends up making them depressed.
He has a desire to provide value to people. Friends and family are more important to YOU.

Professionally I'm fighting a lot of former big fish who are now in a larger pond. The amount of ego is unbearable, but the advice of taking on harder fights is solid. This is a professional pain in the ass but it's making me better.
Warren buffet also has mentioned that the majority of his wealth is due to maybe only a dozen or so big trades like the one mentioned. Without those few outliers, he would probably be average.
Congrats on interviewing Alex. His star is definitely on the rise.

The ego actually works in identity polarities. It either convinces you that you’re the worst of the worst (victim) or the best of the best (god). Both can be dangerous traps, so we must remember to check our ego BOTH ways.

I need to keep that in mind in regards to jiu jitsu. After I got my blue belt I put a lot more importance on the roll going my way, and I’ve subconsciously avoided the hard rolls because of it.
same here. got mine a few months ago and felt an aversion to rolling with difficult white belts because of pride/ego. in reality this mentality only ensures that you will never improve. now when i notice there’s someone i’m dreading rolling against i make it a point to face them as i know they represent the best opportunity for my growth. if you aren’t getting tapped you aren’t challenging yourself and thus aren’t growing, as with anything in life.
This reminds me of what you see with individuals who perpetually use smurf accounts in gaming: They feel powerful in only playing against people at a lower skill level.

Interesting perspective. Generally ego is associated with competition so I will have to listen to more of the podcast to understand how he has separated the two. The second half about the philosophy of friends and relationships is very well thought out. It doesn't bother him to leave friends behind but I wonder how the friends feel? My favorite Warren Buffett Quote: “I’ll tell you why I like the cigarette business. It cost a penny to make. Sell it for a dollar. It’s addictive. And there’s a fantastic brand loyalty.” Now that is how you make money.

Key word, DISORDER.
I think one needs to distinguish between different kinds of ego. On one hand, there are things like self-care, healthy boundaries, confidence based on competence/reality and such. And on the other hand are narcissism, delusion, thoughts of superiority and such. The latter is what most people mean by "too much ego" and it is a plaque.
That part was also a little tricky for me. I am aware of the things that i am missing, I work very very hard to get to my goals. But do not ask me to loose the very thing that keeps me going which is my competitive mind and the ability to say i am the best regards.
Hormozi just needs to write a mindset book.
If you listen to Jung, ego is good because it keeps us protected....but also stuck in what is familiar. For some people it's only lies. Good interview.

Same, specifically high school friends. Due to pandemic-related reasons, I moved back to my hometown. I tried hanging out with them again, and realized we were on such different paths and mindsets. I look forward to getting back out there again after I move this summer

@@brunowilson19 for awhile, yes. Mostly during college. But I've noticed some of my high school friends made alcohol their whole personality, something I'd rather stay away from. I do plan to get involved in communities when I move to a bigger town this summer.

My Dad is a multi millionaire and drinks coors lite. He golfs with a guy who collects vintage supercars and drives to the course in a mini van with 200,000 miles on it.
Guys who work at the course comment that it’s always guys with crazy cars getting their card denied and chased around for dues.
Well that’s just kind of weird TBH. There’s a difference in being wealthy and driving an economy car, and being wealthy and spending a ton of money on expensive cars and then driving a shitty van for some reason.

Again, if you are wealthy and buy a reasonable vehicle then that makes sense. The guy in this example didn’t do that. Don't know dick about real estate and I keep hearing over and over that's where the money is made. @@MrAnderson234 I'm in a similar situation, I don't really know where to put my money. I'm also looking into real estate, I will be waiting probably another year before getting in.
I do have one suggestion, look into I-bonds. You can get about $10K/yr, they yield over 5% per year and you can take the money out anytime. They are backed up by the Fed so low risk. Always good to diversify a bit.

If you like to save and you understand some fundamental analysis and understand compounded interest there is a good chance you can be rich if you start younger.

One small correction, Warren Buffett had Benjamin Graham. Plus the game of being a Titan goes back since the days of pharaoh And kings. But in the 20th century, the casual game in America was laid down by Rockefeller, Carnegie, Ford, and many many other entrepreneurs.
Ego problem examples: those singers on American Idol who honestly believe they can sing and they’re objectively awful; men who transition in sports to go from mediocre to awesome (notice almost never the other way?!?); influencers who act rich but are not (what Alex talked about) or act natty but are not (Liver King, etc.). Too many examples to list. He’s just saying that in this world where you can both fool yourself and others for some period of time, actual excellence typically exists off the popularity grid. BTW, so does wealth. Many (if not most) wealthy people are not ostentatious. Good discussion, as usual from Chris. 😊
In the full interview they talk about how easy it is to actually be successful nowadays. You can create an audience pretty quickly compared to 30 years ago.

Depends on how you define ego. Ego, spiritually speaking, is the false self which is propped up by material gain and success as an artificial construct. Everything about this quest for financial glory is egoic.

I think he is absolutely wrong or at the very least using the term incorrectly. The ego can actually be very, very useful. I think what he is talking about is more related to fear mascaraing as success rather than ego or the false belief that you are at the top already so why bother continuing to improve or learn. Additionally narcissism can be extremely powerful when it isn't based on fear.

He is confusing ego with masks covering fear. Also sometimes it's better psychologically speaking to be the big fish in a small pond because a lot of our happiness is derived through comparisons. Those comparisons are often automatic, we have mechanisms in our mind that constantly compare us to those around us and modify our mood. That's why a middle class kid from an impoverished country can be happy and a person in a wealthy country can be miserable depending on relative context.
Ego is part of your identity and your esteem. It's very valuable on this earthly life, it's just that it has become quite muddled with the recent incursion of eastern philosophies and other definitions that muddle the waters. People also often confuse its meaning because of Buddhism. The breakdown of the ego (personal identity) is often pursued in Buddhism because one of the core beliefs is that we are part of a whole that our identity is much more than just the individual self. There's a bit of, especially recently in the west, demonization of the ego as something to be shunned. It's almost seems to me like a signal of status, like a person wants to believe they are "above" the ego. No one who is alive is above the ego, at least by definition.
Additionally, as a side note, the Dun Kruger effect is inversely correlated with IQ.

Woman’s egos especially when it comes to using and abusing men is being vallrized a hundred times more than men’s egos, sorry someone had to say it. But in the end the ego is the biggest way to fail, we can’t let our egos control us, be humble, be giving, be kind and love everyone.

He's come out against having kids as important to him, is on Testosterone in his 20-30s and just has a very unrelatable story (Went to California with $50k and just learned on the job and made millions). He has good nuggets and speaks well but I just never can relate to him and can't see his advice being a one fits all for a huge amount of people! Big fan of you though Chris, keep it up king 👑
Disposing of your friends because you've "outgrown them" is a typical egotistical statement made by human trash. It's not original and it speaks volumes about the lack of character of the person saying it. It is perfectly possible to context switch and maintain relationships with people less successful than you (financially or otherwise). It simply requires a touch of sensitivity.

When your time is fully leveraged you have to cut the fat to keep progressing. He's probably happiest cutting the fat, whereas most of us are happier with good friends. Maybe that's why everyone is broke?
Its a stretch to call this guy human trash. He may be a bit callous and perhaps have some sociopathic traits (as his own wife said), but I doubt he has seriously harmed anyone or treat people like trash
@@skycaptain95 you definitely don't need a sociopathic level of callousness to be financially successful. I wouldn't be taking interpersonal advice from a guy who said he married his wife as a business agreement.
I had a friend always trying to give me life advice. When I wouldn't follow it, she would question me, kind of bash me, or try to get me on the defensive. Then one day she dropped our friendship for some petty reason that we should've been able to get past. I was clearly not good enough for her anymore, after she had gotten further in life. At least that's the way I see it. No hard feelings, I wish her the best.
While this applies to some percentage of the population who has the IQ, health, etc to do said thing, the world is much too complicated.
