- This is a rare video for 'Liar. You may need to put up the volume a little bit on your computer. This was filmed at the Brewer Street Studio in 1973, just as Queen was on the verge of success.
Lyrics:
I have sinned dear Father Father I have sinned
Try and help me Father
Won't you let me in? Liar
Nobody believes me Liar
Why don't they leave me alone?
Sire I have stolen stolen many times
Raised my voice in anger
When I know I never should
Liar oh ev'rybody deceives me
Liar why don't you leave me alone
Liar I have sailed the seas
Liar from Mars to Mercury
Liar I have drunk the wine
Liar time after time
Liar you're lying to me
Liar you're lying to me
Father please forgive me
You know you'll never leave me
Please will you direct me in the right way
Liar liar liar liar
Liar that's what they keep calling me
Liar liar liar
Oooh, let me go
Listen are you gonna listen
Mama I'm gonna be your slave
All day long
Mama I'm gonna try behave
All day long
Mama I'm gonna be your slave
All day long
I'm gonna serve you till your dying day
All day long
I'm gonna keep you till your dying day
All day long
I'm gonna kneel down by your side and pray
All day long and pray
All day long and pray
All day long and pray
All day long all day long all day long
All day long all day long all day long
All day long all day long all day long
Liar liar they never ever let you win
Liar liar everything you do is sin
Liar nobody believes you
Liar they bring you down before you begin
Now let me tell you this
Now you know you could be dead before they let you

I love this clip - fantastic - yeah, a bit overdone with the visual effects but still Queen were just so young and raw and at their best I reckon. Liar is one of my fave songs.
They were under 30 years old that year. Wow!
If some of you all you can do is critisize what they are wearing you weren't there in the 70's. A lot of people forget that queen were a fantastic rock band first and formost. The guitar work of Brian May is up there with the best.
I was 11, youngest of 5 kids when this came out, one of my older siblings obtained a copy and I was hooked. Still have that 1st album.
Brian is wearing Freddie's floral jacket! oww...so cute :3
+Yummy Sounds If you look at old pictures of them they seem to all share clothes a lot. Definitely during their "starving artist" phase. I've seen Roger wear that same jacket in TONS of pictures lol
Briony Belyea The only one that i can definitely recall is the floral jacket, i'm not trying to insinuate that you're lying, is just i have seen tons of pictures if them on tumblr, the jacket is the only one i have notice that they have share, but yeah i find quite adorable how they were with each other, sometimes i wonder if they ever share a bed at least once in their life....? x3
I have seen a few. There's a black top that Roger wears in the beginning a lot that I've seen both John and Freddie wear, and also a couple of other shirts and jackets. I'm sure they did have to share a bed at some point. I know when they first started out they were so poor that Brian and Roger were still living together and Freddie was sleeping on their floor (until he moved in with Mary)
Briony Belyea Just thinking of them sharing their clothes makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.... x3 i imagine Freddie asking to Roger 'Roger, can i borrow your silk shirt...?' and then Roger answering him 'Oh Brian has it, he took to the laundrymat..?' x3 i do believe they were poor during their first three years together, John was the last one to enter the band i heard when his wife got pregnant, i think even after he got married he used to share an apartment with other friends of his, he ask for a loan to the enemy Trident Studios who barely paid the band and they laugh and deny him, i don't know if it's all true, but they did steal some stuff a few times, poor cuties.... :/
Yeah, their first managers (Trident) weren't paying them squat. 3 hit records and they were still poor. I love them during this phase though. Music was great, they were fiesty... my kind of boys. Why don't they make them like that anymore? lol
I love how they all wore each-other's clothes in the early days -- Poor Brian's too tall for Freddie/Roger's jacket!
I have this strange obsession with the black and white flower jacket and am always amused when Brian wears it in videos or photo shoots because it is SO small on him! That jacket is _so_ obviously worn on all 4 of them (there are pics of John in it, too), I wonder what else they wore of each others' that aren't as noticeable.
Love these old videos of Queen. People forget how Queen ROCKED before they became better known for all their singles.
I love how john's getting all into his playing
November 24, 1977 I was 15 years old went to my first concert , QUEEN at The Spectrum in Philadelphia Pennsylvania USA. News of the World tour. I was lucky enough to see Queen live 3 more times including the Hot Space tour. Nov 24 1977 my first Concert, Nov 24 1991 Freddie died. Exactly 14 yrs. Always the Greatest " QUEEN"
They are so skinnnnny!! LOL So glad you found and posted this. Thanks!!
The most magnificently talented artists ever in one band.
It's really nice that Roger and Brian are still, after all the years, keeping Queen alive and well.
Freddie, we still love you and miss you. Thank you for sharing your talent with us. (Marc Martel thanks you too.)
Any chance that someone can use software to undo the horrible camera effects and post it as it looked live??
Incredible! Such professionalism and pure raw talent in this band so early on! They were already tight and had acquired their own unique sound in beautifully and intricately woven, spine chilling rock ballads! Freddie and Queen were unquestionably the best that ever graced this earth!
He went to his father to tell him he stole and raised his voice in anger.
Then he went to his mother to tell her he killed a man...
the man he was talking about was himself ...he was coming to terms with being a homosexual.
Go John Go, so good.
After 41 years...they destroy'em all! They rock today as ever: go Queen!
'Top Of The Pops' (1973) one of the oldest TV appearances of Queen after Queen 1 was released! I was 12 YO and all the kids in my neighborhood got their 1st Album! Unfortunately they lip-synced their Studio Cut > saw them '77 & '78 Live they were Amazing! RIP Freddie!
How amazing that must have been!
Freddie's voice has been measured on a digital scale John Lennon's voice was pretty amazing Freddie on the other hand can sing from barratone to limited soprano which is out of this world we will never here anyone like him again
I Think this is waaay better than the official video, and this should've been the official video, unlike Keep Yourself Alive was begging for a remake. This one is PERFECT.
Tremendous. "Rare" is an understatement. Thank you a million times for posting this!
DAMN. Freddie is sassy.
Freddie is here dear, Is in our HEART.
i love queen!
3 songs in one.
Early Queen were amazing!
no, they were quite skinny then.. they had no money until after the release of Bohemian Rhapsody. They were still living in small flats and not that cashed up around this time. They were fairly broke in the beginning.
Saw Queen with Kansas at the Erlanger theater on the Sheer Heart Attack tour! It is still to this day my favorite concert! Queen were heavy and put on the best stage show! Freddy's voice and Brian's Guitar will never be duplicated!
John was 21 when this was filmed. Just wow. They were so awesome, even from the start. (ARE still awesome, of course!)
¡Buen comentario!
best band ever!!!
More like being broke. They weren't getting the money they earned and had to be careful not to even break guitar strings and drum sticks. You can reference that on any Queen documentary and the situation is what spurred the song Death On Two Legs.
Очень люблю ранние записи.Такие красавцы!
еще какие!)невозможно наглядеться)
Uh Queen Official.. you know you have one of the most epic duets in music history and you show Brian?
Shit, I can't decide whom to stare at...
THEY WERE SOOOOOO HOT!!!
totally agree. he was the cutest creature on earth these early queen days.
Everybody did not get queen true but last i heard they have sold over 400 million albums thats alot they were and are popular
Would have been 100 times better if they'd not played with camera effects. Still, I'm glad to have seen this.
I agree with you. I was a little child in the 80s but, by chance, I watched "Queen Greatest Hits" on TV, and since then I fell in love with Queen, but Queen in the 70s. I don´t mean I don´t like their 80s´ songs, but the genre of music I like best is hard-rock-that´s what Queen did in the 70s. I don´t know where you´re from, but here in SouthAmerica, especially in Peru, where I´m from, I think hardly anybody knows what Queen did before they became better known, as you said. Good comment!
john deacon ... fantasticccccccccc I love him
Brian se ve muy bien 🎸❤️❤️❤️❤️
lol, Funny Video, once Freddie cut his hair it was hard for me to watch them lol.
thanks for the upload, long live queen.
Camera cuts off whenever Freddie and John share the mic. Too homoerotic for the time.
Dark Magic That is true but Paul and George were just standing side by side, keeping a distance, where Freddie and John were close, dressed somewhat more feminine.
I came here because is one of my early Queen favorites but most importantly because of John and Freddie's "intimate" moment, because i have the other video versions of this song and you can clearly see that scene, maybe he/she's right, this was recorded for tv i think...and social media was still paranoid about homophobic slurs, so is quite a shame 'cause in this one the looked pretty damn good, specially John...i mean his hair and that suit though... :3
LOVE IT
As a Queen fan, like you, we can share info about Queen. In the late 80s and in the early 90s, though I lived in SouthAmerica (I´m still here), you know, before globalization and before the Internet became as popular as it is today, I managed to get everything I could about Queen. For example, as far as I´m concerned, I´ve got Queen pics that still haven´t been posted here or in any other website. If you agree... tell me how can we do so.
great video thanks a ton
awesome
lol I love john's bow tie :)
The Led Zeppelin influences are strong with this one.
This song about got us evicted from my first apartment in Vancouver!
The early '70s when Led Zeppelin and the Who made their big splash. You can see the influence in the early Queen efforts (everyone was banging away on that 7th position E power chord.) Fortunately, Queen followed their instincts and went rogue and were true to themselves, surpassing their peers by a wide margin.
genios.....
Siiiii
+Paula Dominguez ...y + paula martinez ... Hola amigas !!!
great,great ,i love it
Why does Freddie look so tall?
Wait.. I think he’s wearing heels.. ohhhh
Such shoes were very fashionable at that time. Believe me.
Как жаль , что такой красоты больше нет
NICE FIND. Never saw this before. There is a lot of stuff in British TV vaults that no one has seen. Do you have anything from Jethro Tull (1971-1975)? Impossible to find.
@Rlotpir1972 The new season of MTVHD featuresa an HD version of Keep Yourself Alive, but sadly not Liar (bit too obscure, perhaps).
Olga, I'm probably about 10 years older than you. Grew up in New Jersey. Been a HUGE Queen fan as far as I can remember.
Liar is one of my favorite Queen songs. Love the bass line in this song. John Entwistle (The Who) may be the greatest rock bassist ever, but John Deacon is a very close second:)
los mejores😍😜
2:42 - 2:49 omg, Deacy is too cute
Rubberband Freddie…
Brian May~my high school obsession in the 70's!!
This song is AMAZING!!
This is really St John's Studios August 9 1973
Early Queen👌
Top!
Now, this is glam rock!
Hard Rock, Blues y Heavy Metal, el Glam Rock no lo conocieron hasta el 74
This is not rare at all or fans, we had this video before you dad was born
Baby Queen Green Queen 👑 Love them any way I can get them 😂💛✌🏼
Holy crap are you serious! Don't lie to me dude! Cause if you did your like the boss because I was born 7 years after Freddie died and I'm only allowed to see the queen extravaganza concerts and if queen comes to the USA (crossed fingers!)
Great video but the effects are really annoying
no it was the top of pops in britain and maybe their 80's hits were probably on mtv
@missers --Sex on a stick--love that! That's absolutely right. I couldn't have said it better.
The best Queen
what about Roger and Brian ? :P
why is Brian in Freddie's jacket???))
Pretty sure they all shared clothes in the early days, not just in this video :)
Sophie G I mean obviously look at deakys shirt must have been freddie
Myatta y Roger.
Sonorous Skater John and Freddie shared clothes in the 80's too
Era la chaqueta de todos, jaja. Incluyendo Roger.
Wow are they skinny...
They were all babies!
@queenrthechampions I know, he is my favorite member, too :D
I hate that it switches during the Deacury moment to Brian but still good since it's the recorded version, not live.
Hi:)! It seems that you uploaded a video previously uploaded by me - see LIAR, uploaded in 2006
Dosnt look this like Top of The Pops ??
Probably it is, because they cut John and Freddie's moment...
+Yummy Sounds yea it can be
He visto a Brian, Roger y Freddie con la misma chaqueta. Él único que falta es John.
John también usaba la chaqueta, pero no con tanta frecuencia.
Was this ever aired on MTV or VH-1?
DRugs sure keep the body lean .
Where did you have that ?
the video is different than the song they are both off.
VIDEO, Y U NO LOUDER?
Oh plz me too I would love to have vds from Jethro Tull
@pacman13434 Haha, as long as you still like rock my brother, age is meaningless ;)
4:14
frian
@queenrthechampions ME TOO :D
well I know he is not right, but you never know if they took drugs or not... they probably did
Raro
The video effects hurt my eyes
this is old
queen from 1973 looks like deep purple from 1973
@0lunoire0 You & me both ;)
no it's a really good song so probably not black sabbath
They really weren't amazing. You gotta love Freddie's voice, no question.,,but the band was an average bar band...and why is the drummer wearing Brian May's Underwear!!??
Hahahahahahahaha. You're out of your fucking mind. What planet are you living on that Queen were an "average" band? That's priceless. I would be amazed if anyone could keep a straight face while saying that.
ee. drums...bass...electric guitar and lead singer...I guess you're right. what an amazing concept. but you're right..their success was anything but average,
Mike Walker I think their sparkle wasn't in the formation, but in their majestic style, sound and technique.. The four musicians weren't "average", they were/are masters.
?? Scratching my head here ... average bar band? There was NEVER anything average about this band. Agree with Kat . .sorry Mike but you are obviously mad.
Sorry Mike but you have to be from another planet!!!!!!!!! O_O
Awkward and rather bland
