  • This is a rare video for 'Liar. You may need to put up the volume a little bit on your computer. This was filmed at the Brewer Street Studio in 1973, just as Queen was on the verge of success.
    Lyrics:
    I have sinned dear Father Father I have sinned
    Try and help me Father
    Won't you let me in? Liar
    Nobody believes me Liar
    Why don't they leave me alone?
    Sire I have stolen stolen many times
    Raised my voice in anger
    When I know I never should
    Liar oh ev'rybody deceives me
    Liar why don't you leave me alone
    Liar I have sailed the seas
    Liar from Mars to Mercury
    Liar I have drunk the wine
    Liar time after time
    Liar you're lying to me
    Liar you're lying to me
    Father please forgive me
    You know you'll never leave me
    Please will you direct me in the right way
    Liar liar liar liar
    Liar that's what they keep calling me
    Liar liar liar
    Oooh, let me go
    Listen are you gonna listen
    Mama I'm gonna be your slave
    All day long
    Mama I'm gonna try behave
    All day long
    Mama I'm gonna be your slave
    All day long
    I'm gonna serve you till your dying day
    All day long
    I'm gonna keep you till your dying day
    All day long
    I'm gonna kneel down by your side and pray
    All day long and pray
    All day long and pray
    All day long and pray
    All day long all day long all day long
    All day long all day long all day long
    All day long all day long all day long
    Liar liar they never ever let you win
    Liar liar everything you do is sin
    Liar nobody believes you
    Liar they bring you down before you begin
    Now let me tell you this
    Now you know you could be dead before they let you

    I love this clip - fantastic - yeah, a bit overdone with the visual effects but still Queen were just so young and raw and at their best I reckon. Liar is one of my fave songs.

    If some of you all you can do is critisize what they are wearing you weren't there in the 70's. A lot of people forget that queen were a fantastic rock band first and formost. The guitar work of Brian May is up there with the best.

      +Yummy Sounds If you look at old pictures of them they seem to all share clothes a lot. Definitely during their "starving artist" phase. I've seen Roger wear that same jacket in TONS of pictures lol

    • @333br
      @333br Před 8 lety +5

      Briony Belyea The only one that i can definitely recall is the floral jacket, i'm not trying to insinuate that you're lying, is just i have seen tons of pictures if them on tumblr, the jacket is the only one i have notice that they have share, but yeah i find quite adorable how they were with each other, sometimes i wonder if they ever share a bed at least once in their life....? x3

    • @brionybelyea6282
      @brionybelyea6282 Před 8 lety +16

      I have seen a few. There's a black top that Roger wears in the beginning a lot that I've seen both John and Freddie wear, and also a couple of other shirts and jackets. I'm sure they did have to share a bed at some point. I know when they first started out they were so poor that Brian and Roger were still living together and Freddie was sleeping on their floor (until he moved in with Mary)

    • @333br
      @333br Před 8 lety +10

      Briony Belyea Just thinking of them sharing their clothes makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.... x3 i imagine Freddie asking to Roger 'Roger, can i borrow your silk shirt...?' and then Roger answering him 'Oh Brian has it, he took to the laundrymat..?' x3 i do believe they were poor during their first three years together, John was the last one to enter the band i heard when his wife got pregnant, i think even after he got married he used to share an apartment with other friends of his, he ask for a loan to the enemy Trident Studios who barely paid the band and they laugh and deny him, i don't know if it's all true, but they did steal some stuff a few times, poor cuties.... :/

    • @brionybelyea6282
      @brionybelyea6282 Před 8 lety +9

      Yeah, their first managers (Trident) weren't paying them squat. 3 hit records and they were still poor. I love them during this phase though. Music was great, they were fiesty... my kind of boys. Why don't they make them like that anymore? lol

  • @KlaudiaNomi
    @KlaudiaNomi Před 12 lety +8

    I love how they all wore each-other's clothes in the early days -- Poor Brian's too tall for Freddie/Roger's jacket!

    • @HealthAtAnyCost
      @HealthAtAnyCost Před 7 dny

      I have this strange obsession with the black and white flower jacket and am always amused when Brian wears it in videos or photo shoots because it is SO small on him! That jacket is _so_ obviously worn on all 4 of them (there are pics of John in it, too), I wonder what else they wore of each others' that aren't as noticeable.

    Era una niña pequeña en los 80, pero, por casualidad, vi "Los Grandes Éxitos de Queen" en la TV, y desde entonces me enamoré de Queen, pero de Queen de los 70. No quiero decir que no me gustan sus canciones de los 80, pero el género de música que más me gusta es el rock duro-eso eslo que Queen hizo en los 70. No sé de dónde eres, pero aquí en Sudamérica, especialmente en Perú, de dónde soy, creo que casi nadie sabe lo que Queen hizo antes de ser mejor conocidos, como dijiste. ¡Buen comentario!

    More like being broke. They weren't getting the money they earned and had to be careful not to even break guitar strings and drum sticks. You can reference that on any Queen documentary and the situation is what spurred the song Death On Two Legs.

    I agree with you. I was a little child in the 80s but, by chance, I watched "Queen Greatest Hits" on TV, and since then I fell in love with Queen, but Queen in the 70s. I don´t mean I don´t like their 80s´ songs, but the genre of music I like best is hard-rock-that´s what Queen did in the 70s. I don´t know where you´re from, but here in SouthAmerica, especially in Peru, where I´m from, I think hardly anybody knows what Queen did before they became better known, as you said. Good comment!

      I came here because is one of my early Queen favorites but most importantly because of John and Freddie's "intimate" moment, because i have the other video versions of this song and you can clearly see that scene, maybe he/she's right, this was recorded for tv i think...and social media was still paranoid about homophobic slurs, so is quite a shame 'cause in this one the looked pretty damn good, specially John...i mean his hair and that suit though... :3

In the late 80s and in the early 90s, though I lived in SouthAmerica (I´m still here), you know, before globalization and before the Internet became as popular as it is today, I managed to get everything I could about Queen. For example, as far as I´m concerned, I´ve got Queen pics that still haven´t been posted here or in any other website. If you agree... tell me how can we do so.

    The early '70s when Led Zeppelin and the Who made their big splash. You can see the influence in the early Queen efforts (everyone was banging away on that 7th position E power chord.) Fortunately, Queen followed their instincts and went rogue and were true to themselves, surpassing their peers by a wide margin.

      Hahahahahahahaha. You're out of your fucking mind. What planet are you living on that Queen were an "average" band? That's priceless. I would be amazed if anyone could keep a straight face while saying that.

      Mike Walker I think their sparkle wasn't in the formation, but in their majestic style, sound and technique.. The four musicians weren't "average", they were/are masters.
