The band of my life. No other band has come close.
I have Genesis and the Grateful Dead for bands, and Bob Dylan for single artist ✌🏽🌻
My thoughts exactly. I discovered Wind and Wuthering among my uncle's LPs when I was 15, and that was it...
Indeed❤
a masterpiece everyone needs to hear before they die. its truly majestic and beautiful.
Just epic! The musicianship in this band is beyond compare. Tony Bank's sense of melody in his keyboard solos and counterpoint is always compelling. Phil's drumming is outstanding. His tom work alone proves he's one of the greatest drummers ever. Mike Rutherford's bass, guitar and taurus pedals provide the most amazing rhythmic licks and powerful bass rumble! Thank you Genesis and all involved in bringing us this epic recording!!
The middle section is just insanely good!!
NOTHING beats genesis. do you hear me?!!
I don't know why they are not posting "Duke's Travel's" and "Duke's End" together. The two pieces should _never_ be separated! Prog Rock Heaven!😀👍
Yep, you just can’t have one without tother as they say in Yorkshire…… I think?! 👍🏼
Couldn't agree more, two wonderful pieces that totally belong together!
The same with Behind The Lines/Duchess/Guide Vocal.
Completely agree. It should be one long joined prog masterpiece, indivisible.
Ils very True !
From 4:00 to 4:40 is one of the best keyboard runs leading to crescendo ever. Ever. This entire song Tony, Phil, Mike divinely inspired.
It’s a white knuckle jam the whole way through. By the end of this crescendo I always have goosebumps.

Always unique, incomparable and top tier. Genesis' iconic legacy will never end with all these legendary masterpieces. Wishing you all the legend. An icon for many. What a blast it's been following this band for all these years, and what a time. Spent my birthday well this week, with just listening to iconic masterpieces. Long Live Legends. 👑💙
This track……is so special, ESPECIALLY THE INTRO, it’s so fricking amazing. This is my favorite studio album they’ve done, never get bored listening too it, it’s flawless
Insanely underrated track.
Sailing ships and sea are poignant in this song!! I love this whole album. I was a freshman in high school and now am 57 years old. Will never forget this time of Genesis
2023 I am still listening ❤❤
I love you Genesis ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Genesis made their top 3 albums with 5, 4 and 3 members. "Selling England by the Pound" (5), "A trick of the tail" (4) and "Duke" (3). And the same with his best songs: "Supper's ready", "Firth of Fifh", "One for the vine", "Duke's travels/Duke's end". And on all those issues, Tony Banks is key.
banks is literally genesis
banks always want to go commercial way of music.@@mranon42023
This and dukes end are perfect closers to the beautiful dukes suite and to duke itself, which is an absolutely incredible album as a whole.
It's a great album, but l think the word incredible might apply to some earlier work.
Folks Great music
Their musicianship was never better than on Duke.
This song inspired me to write instrumental music and I've yet to come close to writing something as good as this. It's spectacularly good.
Keep plugging!
You'll get there someday! 🙂
Lyrics to this iconic track: 👑
I am the one who guided you this far
All you know and all you feel
Nobody must know my name
For nobody would understand
And you kill what you fear
And you fear what you don't understand
I call you for I must leave
You're on your own until the end
There was a choice but now it's gone
I said, "You wouldn't understand
Take what's yours and be damned"
That's for Duke's End.
@@AR-rs2dy Nah Duke’s End is instrumental, starts at the reprise of Behind the Lines
(Source: Various Genesis' Sites.)
@@AR-rs2dy Nope, take a listen to the song, and the video, before you comment bud. Lyrics were literally in the premier.
I cannot understand why they cut the vocals out of this and out of Behind The Lines on the 2008 tour.
What can you say? Tony Banks is the man. I love the soul stirring synth licks he came up with when creating this EPIC track ❤️❤️ In my opinion, this is THE best song, the most enigmatic track on the entire album. By far 😎👍
Just one small gripe, why for the love of God is "Duke's End" regarded as a separate track? 🤔😳 The two need to be together.
Agree with all, Tony is the soul of Genesis
Absolute masterpiece. Every one of them a Maestro.
Oh how I love Genesis so much, I am so in tune with how the music makes me feel. My sister passed away in 2016 and she was the one who introduced me to them many many years ago with the song ripples. I love them still today if this is new, I am still as much a fan today as I was when I first heard of them her song that she wanted played at her memorial was you'll be in my heart yes, Genesis will always be in my heart I love them I can sit for hours and listen to their music and it just makes me feel like I am in the moment that's what I like about this band they are iconic long live Genesis exclamation
Ripples is from my favorite album A Trick Of The Tail and the whole album is a classic also on the album is Entangled and if you never heard that look it up on here and give a listen you won't be sorry..👊
@@squonk86 voice typing another album is no jacket required we can't dance I could go on but I think trick of the tails is a very good album I love it.
@@faithbyrge484 No Jacket Required is a solo album from Phil and is great in it self but love your comment and very sorry about your sister but she turned you on to some great music.
@@squonk86 but Phil Collins is part of Genesis I love them and she did I listen to that song and cry every time I hear it but I know she's still with me because whenever I put ripples on oh wow I sing it like she played it loud.
@@faithbyrge484 Yes Phil is and took over in 1976 as the front man and this was their first album without Gabriel and yes your sister is always with you especially when you play those special songs.
A friend from high school turned me on to Genesis in about 1981 and have been enjoying their music ever since...phenomenal musicians!!
Ditto
This is just pure farewell to huge era and decade of the best band ever… Duke was first pop/rock album by Genesis, but this was the last masterpiece for all progrock fans.
Beautifully said. It is a goodbye to one era and a dive into another.
duke is a masterpiece. but they have had GREAT stuff after that. many many prog things actually
This album introduced me to genesis back in 1980 stolling the hills of the lake district on holiday sure brilliance.
one of my favourite 80's Genesis song!
Just Perfect GENTLEMEN
Thank you so much 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💯👑🙏🏻🌷
Brilliant musician ever 👏 iconic music 🎶 🎵 great job iGenesis legendary band respect earned! Congrats Phil Mike and Tony fantastic 👏 🤘🥁🎸🎹🎤💿🎧🎵🎶🎵💖🥂
My favorite álbum ever❤️
A natureza é injusta. Nem tudo deveria ter um início, meio e um fim. Genesis é o início de tudo, não o fim. Para sempre Genesis!
es gracioso porque originalmente se llamaron "from genesis to the revelations"
🎶Tony should do a soundtrack for a cool film or a AAA Game! I cannot understand, why noone would approach him! He'd create great soundtracks! 🎹🎞️
He has done some soundtracks and classical albums.
I really wish he’d do a video game soundtrack. Things like this and his solo song Charm show so much potential for that.
@@turnleftaticeland very true! Exchanged the original soundtrack with Tonys on some games - works really well! But would be cool to have his music officially on some strategy game ... or any game xD
Genesis, all those classic songs! Stagnation, The musical box, Suppers ready, Firth of fifth, In the cage, Ripples, one for the vine, Burning rope, Dukes travels, and.......
this is my favorite genesis song ever
Mine is Suppers Ready, more a lengthy story set to music though l suppose.
@@keithjones7390
I love them both for different reasons. Supper’s Ready is so diverse and rich with creativity. This song is so intense and cohesive. The excitement just builds and builds.
What a grand and glorious machine,
steaming Duke into Soylent Green
One of my favorite Genesis' suits! 😍
When I hear this song then I see Duke's travel. What a amazing instrumental song.
Yes, unique and incomparable.
TOUS les albums de Genesis sont des chefs d'oeuvres à écouter sans modération. Phil à la batterie est exceptionnel et irremplaçable. Finesse, précision, LA Perfection. Comme sa voix unique superbe. 2022 Genesis and Phil still THE BEST. Holy Trinity. We love you forever and more.
Irremplaçable !!! Jai vu la video de son concert d'adieu et son dernier message au public.... un crève-coeur 😢
I cannot understand why they never played the first 1.5 minutes of this live.
(Maybe) because it was hard to play it live
@@doa_3 they played a lot of duke stuff, and part of this song with nic collins on the drums on last domino :D
This is just pure finale.....MAGNIFICENT!
C'est juste un chef d'oeuvre cet album . Merci Génésis
Oh oui ! Une pure merveille !
🥀👣🥀Beautiful! Simply Beautiful and Powerful need I say more🥀👣🥀☝️
The song is my life
Masterpiece of Song! Amazing Album! I love you Genesis! ❤️🎼🎶

Fantastic Awesome Music which I will always Cherish..Thank You For all your Fabulous Works “Genesis”💗💗💗
I'm in love 2024 as I always was when ibwas introduced to this amazing band.

Thunder and lighting...❤
Absolutely brilliant thanku so much love and God bless always x
the change at 3:15 is the greatest in music history.
One of the best prog rock song OAT
SO ICONIC, just keep listening to this superb song all these years, and will till the very last
Great album I've listened to it in 1980 already in vinyl
2:20 - 2:35 and 2:56 - 3:16 ALWAYS my Fav part it blow my mind from my childhood
Bless for Tony!!
Eminent as always 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙏🏻💯🌷
@James Hernandez Hello James. How do you do?
A very astute fan on the FB group, Access All Eras, brought up that Phil seems to be yelling ‘Hey!’ during Tony’s solo at 4:27, or so. Very hard to catch, I think drummer fans may pick it up faster, but he’s yelling Hey!, on I believe the downbeat of 4, in 6/8, and then again at the very next measure! It’s 2022, album came out in 1980, and an awesome person just changed the way I hear a song I’ve been blasting away for 42 freakin years that I’ll never unhear! Love it!! Anybody catch it? It’s so awesome!
Listen to this while walking the dogs in the forest amazing
Sensacional ♥️
Merci Genesis bénédictions amen
I found this to be a breakthrough for the band and the story seems pretty meloncholly but it ends with a uplifting sense of happiness in the los end, hope springs eternal for Tony and Mike and Darrel almost fills the Gap Hackett left,,, I was blown away.... Alex G
I think even Steve would love from 5:45
a prog masterpiece
Totalement agreed of course........
Amazing
Love the remaster here!
SPLENDIDI, I VIAGGI DEL DUCA.
The Story of Albert part 5
not the story of Phil? ;-)
I have listened to a lot of prog and music in general and the bit from about 5:14 to about 5:30 is up there man, right up there with the gates of delirium by Yes at it's peak. It is epic and tight and brilliant.
I think they need to give a few props to a group whose orchestrated rock came before them-Emerson lake and Palmer. But what bands they both are and what places, journeys they take us. Thank you thank you
This is why I never listen to Genesis on CZcams or other platforms, some songs end abruptly and feel incomplete, they should have published "Duke's Travel's" and "Duke's End" together...
Epic epic epic...
Unique
Their last proggy instrumental save for "Second home by the sea" and much input from "Smallcreeps' day"(M.R) crops up in this superlative track.
Yes
❤️🔥
@3:15..the Hammond still rocks !
🥰❤🥰
Спасибо
All Hail the majesty of Banks & The Boys
genios por siempre!
❤️🌹❤️
Cuando parecía que el Genesis progresivo ya no existía, apareció esta joya.

8:24 reference to strawberry fields forever
So blow your mind here. Listen to the keyboards between, say, 10 seconds and 50 seconds ... now listen to the keyboards played on Jabba's sail barge as it flies over the desert in RotJ.
The song that plays when you climb a mountain with a rocket nearing launch, and then in the solo you ride that rocket while the earth keeps throwing all its energy to the sky, and the time goes back, it just keeps going back while your speed on the rocket keeps increasing and then it just stops...
Half of a wonderful ending to this album
▶🎧🎶
The chord used in the minute 7:20 is just a genius chord (a typical Tony Banks chord too far)! ✌️
for real I suspect it shows up in Firth of Fifth as well
Good spot, never noticed that before - because I've played Guide Vocal and it's defo not the same chord. He really is the king of the entirely unexpected yet perfect chord. In One for the Vine, right before and just after Phil sings "he walked into a valley", at 3.51 and 4.11 here. Just epic.

UNA LOCURA!!!
This is really a stand alone piece. I think they kind of padded Duke's Travels and Duke's End, but if it's "filler" material, it's still a fun listen and some great prog.
Die Anzahl von Liedern die mit nur 7 Tonen, komponiert werden können, ist unendlich
Now you're talking! Duke's Travels and Duke's End ( which should have been featured together) are a wonderful finale, the absolute highlight to a great album, tracks that l can't wait to hear when I'm listening to this great LP.
I was never keen on the chaotic middle section in this tune, but I love the bookends of it.
@4:55?
@@josephp.reillyaround there. Starts at 4:45.
yeah. genesis generally has "wierd" sounding chaotic sections (questionable easthetical value) in a lot of their prog songs, but luckily they are just a part
Solo io ce la sento una citazione di Strawberry fieds Forever alla fine?
Love the kindergarten art work.
UAUUIUUU SHOWWW TOPPP LINDAS MÚSICAS 🎼🎵🎶🎼🎵🎶🎼🎵🎶🎼🎵🎶👏👏👏👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👌

Collins struggled in later years with the drumming on this track.
Sorry but this is the most boring Genesis song imho
Sorry but you have no taste...
Just like Home by the Sea can't split it up DOH!!!!!
What Dervish Tony Banks is, on this piece. A beautiful maze of interwoven rhythms, and harmonic melodies. One of the instrumentals that gives a uniqueness to "Duke". I've always loved "Travels".
