Today I make a brand new Adventure food called Fandabi Bannock which is basically normal Bannock with a twist.
If you plan on making this Fandabi Bannock then check out this video • Survival Rations Inspi... and subscribe to him here www.youtube.com/@FandabiDozi/...
Thanks for watching!

Adding the brown sugar before the water will help with making the lard. The sugar needs to dissolve to be affective.
Good Idea!
You can also swap out the lard for something like coconut oil if your vegan or whatnot
yeah
I made the sweet version (brown sugar, dried cranberries, granola), but i couldnt get it to really cook easily. after 10 minutes (what fandabi says) at 200 c, the inside was still basically dough and moist, and so i had to cook it for like 40 more minutes, with it still being quite soft inside, then left it on around 80 c for like 2 hours before it seemed completely done. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Maybe i added too much water? the consistency seemed right but i really don't know.
I made a second batch recently and had the same problem and its definitely because of too much water. After rewatching my video I saw how little water I added and realised i'd done too much. It ended up taking about two hours to cook properly. I think to get the amount of water perfect you add a little bit and then stir it so that you get a few bits that stick together and then start needing it. Great to hear you tried it out!
Cool video I'm wracking my brain to see if I can think of any way to get the sweet ones to taste better as you said they taste of lard which you don't like maybe use bitter instead of lard as butter is just fat but different than lard
Yeah I think I just didn't add enough sugar. But next time I make a batch i'll add more sugar and use butter instead of lard to see if that makes a difference.
@@backyardadventures2703 I looked up the original Scottish recipe and they say oats flour water sugar n butter milk or butter or lard and what ever sweet stuff you want to add good luck in your endeavours
Wow that's Awesome!
