Basically Unus Annus in a nutshell
It’s a bot. Ignore and report. @ ing them makes them more active.
thats what she said
hi, mild parkourist here. to put this animation into perspective the highest that the beginner 2 (so good but still learning) students at my gym drop and roll from is about 4 feet onto a mat, and most of them still mess up the timing. Mark dropped from 4x that height as his first time ever doing a shoulder roll. that is insane
Still didn't die though!
What doesn't kill you makes you realize how stupid you were in hindsight.
@@JohnnyShagbot just busted his ass
Yeah this place sounds like it has 30 lawsuits in the making
I feel like Mark is a very blessed man at this point, he's endured so much and came out on top like a champ, his positivity is something to behold.
I think the sirens might've been an ambulance for the kid who dropped down on his face.
yea
EXACTLY what I was thinking. lol
Oooh that makes sense
How was that not the immediate thought. I was thinking, did he call? Or did someone else call, after he passed out? Is he even alive? spinal injury likely.
Well, at least where I live, Fire Engines, Ambulances and Police cars all have distinct sounding sirens
The fact that they just...let the guy walk off despite obviously having his ribs shattered was insane to me, imagine if that was the last time they saw that kid. 😭
It was.

Oh, So I was right, Thanks mate,

As all things should be.
Nah, man. The best punchline is when Mark realizes he never saw broken ribs guy again.

Fun(?) fact: Later in the podcast episode, Mark mentions that this may have legitimately led to back problems throughout his life

@@ToriCake95 I dunno, I’ve been falling on my ass for 2 years and I’d say it’s pretty nice
So, I went to a parkour gym once and my experience was somewhat similar to Mark's. Well, without the cops bit. This was an actual gym with padded floors and proper climbing equipment to practice on safely. Not the sink-or-swim approach of falling off the side of a parking garage.
It was front flip day. The set up was a 15-ish foot stretch of mats, then a short barrier (probably 1.5 - 2 feet tall) and then a set mats behind it to land on. Similar to Mark, I'd also made a... calculated error. I'd never done a proper front flip before; Only ever into a swimming pool. Otherwise, I had no parkour experience, whatsoever. I'd seen people do flips, watched some videos on how to do flips, and understood the basics of how to do a flip successfully. So I'd thought.
And so, we were all lined up taking turns flipping over this obstacle. Everyone's doing fine. Perfect front flip after perfect front flip. Then, it was my turn to go. I take a second to kind of figure out my approach. Figure out what foot I'm going to start on, how I'm going to launch into this thing, and then I just go for it. As I'm running up to the barricade, all I'm thinking is, "Okay, I just need to get my ass over my head. Once I'm there, reflexes will take over."
I cleared the barrier, ass over head, exactly as planned. I started bringing the feet around, so far so good. Then, I landed FLAT on my ass. To my surprise, it didn't hurt quite like a bitch. It hurt like 5 bitches. It felt like I'd been fist-fucked by Edward Scissorhands. It felt like I was now 3 inches shorter than before I made questionable life choices.
A couple onlookers heard my "OW, FUCK!" distress call and promptly dragged my assless remains back to the starting area. I didn't break anything, thankfully. It only hurt for a few days, and I was fine. However, I realized right then and there that maybe parkour is not my thing. I like being able to walk comfortably and unassisted. I haven't been back since, nor have I attempted any parkour-related stunts since then. And I have no intention to.
I feel bad for you but YOUR DESCRIPTION WAS HILARIOUS THANK YOU FOR SHARING
Your "assless remains" 😂😂😭
This was written so well- I'm shocked

When I heard this back in then I was like speechless. The first rule of parkour is not starting to jump everywhere reining your balance, is to know HOW TO FALL and how to use your feet and legs for maximum dampening of all the force your weight swings with. Shoulder roll is meant to slow the momentum when dropping so you don’t..we’ll you know.. have the sudden stop of the ground break your legs. The point of rolling isn’t style point, it’s so you can safely reach the ground. The faster you roll the less inpact your feet will have. But this doesn’t mean you should jump off the Empire State Building and expect the same treatment. As a graduated parkour student at HUB I can definitely say that rolling off that height will save you but will still hurt a bit. so there’s no cheating gravity, lol.
Well, technically he did slow his momentum. Very, very abruptly.
I've never parkoured before but I accidentally did a perfect roll once. I was heading down the backyard of my family's ranch if you can call it that, running a bit faster than I probably should've been because I was being impatient and just had to check on something. Well, I'm running and I end up tripping on something, probably a vine on the ground - might've been a snake or a twig, you know how it be on them southern ranches - and so I'm falling and every nerve in my brain just said "This is ridiculous. I just want to check what's got the dog riled up. I'm falling? No. I'm not falling. I'm gonna keep going."
And so I fell and just THREW my weight into my shoulder and rolled so passive aggressively that the momentum carried me back onto my feet.. and I just kept going. More annoyed at the inconvenience of tripping than I was of falling. And I don't think I could replicate it if I tried..
holy shit, im a current hub student! its crazy to see another one out in the wild.

When my uncle was a teenager he could do front flips with a running start. My dad and them knew a guy who could do *standing* front and back flips, apparently his leg muscles were _massive._ Anyway my dad is a martial artist, training since he was very young and my uncles flips were getting a bit stiffer over time. My dad tried to get his little brother to start stretching but was ignored. One day my uncle missed and landed firmly on his tailbone. The shock knocked him unconscious and he cracked the bone. Legend has it, the police are still searching for Mark for going into the forbidden zone.
My mom dislocated a vertebrae in her lower back in a similar manner, only she didn't jump. She tripped on the staircase of her apartment building and fell down the steps on her back. The result was a full-back bruise that lasted for weeks and a vertebrae that healed funny (it moved up along her back and stayed in its new position; there's now a barely visible dent in her back where it used to be).
My favorite part of this episode is when Bob asks Mark if they ever saw the other dude (dude that landed on his face) again, and Mark took a second, and said "No...". Then all three of them assumed that he was completely and totally dead.
Or that the sirens they heard might have been an ambulance.
The goal of the roll is to disperse as much of the impact across your body as possible, so it's not all concentrated in one spot and busting bones.
If you find yourself in this situation (2nd story, 0 rolling capacity) then the 2nd most useful thing would be a break-fall. But let's say you've never done that either and need the babiest easiest thing possible that *might* still leave you with some bones.
Okay here's the plan: Land on your feet and lean forward, but keep yours knees nice and loose, your goal is to immediately let your legs collapse so you can fall forward.
You know the gesture you make when you want to pretend to be cat? (hand by your head, palm facing out, so you can go "meow meow!") That's right, we're gonna make like a cat (who always lands on his feet) and nyan-nyan as we fall. (Keep your palms flat though or you may break a knuckle). Fall forward, and let your nyan-arms help cushion the impact so you don't bust a rib.
Finally most important: Turn your head to your side before it impacts the ground or you WILL bust a nose. So make like a Jesus-cat and turn the other cheek.
TLDR! Be the nyan-cat: land *lightly* on your feet, surrender the knees, nyan with your arms, fall forward, face cheek to ground.
Can't decide if this is more cursed or more informative
Thanks for the information, sir / ma'am 👌 Might use that if I regret j- never mind not gonna make that joke 😅
Thank you so much for not only explaining a good way to approach this with minimal training, but also explaining it in a way that is UNDERSTANDABLE. Am I gonna try this now, armed with info? Absolutely not. But am I glad I know just in case? Hell yeah!
only problem i can see is people "nyan'ing" as they fall. otherwise great info.
Informative and gave me the phrases "Jesus-Cat" and "Nyan-arms", what more could i ask for
Mark put every single point into constitution
Absolutely stunning animation. Kudos to the animator(s).
Bob's laugh at 4:33 gives me life
Same here, its so good!
This would make a good Netflix show. A bunch of stories narrated by Mark.

certainly better than most of the garbage they have these days.
Love this animation so much lol, I wish he'd do more of this
this never fails to make me laugh. Every time i have to pause the video and get all the giggles out of me before i keep going.
I want to hear more of Bob and Mark's college stories. That episode was golden.
@🌹•Y0ūr_.Em0_Ånīme_Wåīfú• 🌹 Yeah those bots are annoying.
Which episode, I haven’t been catching up with them
@@luisn642 this was from "Hold My Beer"
This was my favourite story in the entire series so far, and somehow this animation has made it even funnier, now I wish the entire “Hold My Beer” episode was animated like this because that has so many funny stories.
It's one of my favorite episode of the podcast, and I wish it got more appreciation!
Mom: "did you plan your trip?"
Me: "of course I did"
My plan: 3:52
I would totally have done something like this if the opportunity presented itself in college. Thank you Mark for being the guinea pig and letting me know you'll break that bum! The Office inspired my sister to try parkour as well. But, we jut yell parkour as we hopped a curb or something of our level lol :D
Mark: **explains how he broke his trunk and scapula**
Me, holding onto my ass and shoulder for dear life: *I won't let them take you.*
Don't read my name!!!!
"Ow my scapula!" Carl Wheezer
The chunky kid that also never did Parkour before was in his own show watching the other guys fail while he was miraculously triumphant. He really feels like a main character.
OMG TOTHEARK MARBLE HORNETS COMMENTOR GUY HIII
He's the main character of the anime. Mark is the main character of the sitcom.
@@white52 lol is that my official title
In all of Distractible this is one of my favourite stories of all time and I keep going back to it
As an EMT, you got very lucky, my friend. I pray that luck carries over for the rest of a hopefully very long life.
