The shackles knock down Margit/Morgott and Mohg specifically. I haven't heard of it working on anyone else, but if it does I'll happily test it.
Sorry, I said the furnace visage, but it actually says it on the hefty furnace pots:

Freyja's quest gives us another piece of the puzzle. Here's what she said before she left for the Shadow Keep:
> Kindly Miquella spoke… of the vow he once made with General Radahn.
> And… it is here the vow shall be honoured. I am a Redmane. I must know the nature of the vow.
If we had continued her quest, it would have gone like this (spoilers):
Ansbach:
> Freyja, by the gods… She must be feeling the need to reaffirm her allegiance before she heads to war…
> A true Redmane she is, hardly troubled by the rot. But no-one is without their shortcomings…
> She has a hard road ahead…
> Hmm, it does make one think… Perhaps our concerns are but two sides of the same coin?
> Righteous Tarnished. Could you please give this to Freyja? Thanks to you, she, too, will have the answers she requires.
> Freyja possesses a youth I no longer have. This knowledge will surely stoke the flames of valor within her.
> Yes, I can see her barreling into the fray right now...
Letter to Freyja:
> A letter written by Sir Ansbach to Freyja the Redmane. Presumably written in answer to her query, but the page is neatly folded to keep prying eyes from reading it.
Freyja:

This and the Secret Rite Scroll are essentially the only real clues we get for guessing Miquella's full plan before the end-game. Good luck!
We're not intended to go behind the manse. I watched someone use god mode or whatever to go back there, and it's unfinished. Kinda weird that they left a couple of areas like that when we can go almost everywhere, but hey it's a "sequel" at a discount :)

I tested out the fire serpent spell with all the boosts and it slaps pretty hard. It's short range but it's fast and homes in really well. I recommend using it on horseback.
Yep. Already am. It's great since you can be riding away and hit your enemies easily.
Good job on Messmer! Cool fight, I'm curious if the night knight had a summon monologue. I was certain he would be the final boss of the DLC, so now I'm left wondering...
Just to tie up the Midra story, he was punished by the hornsent inquisitors who feared the frenzied flame would destroy all they had built. Messmer didn't have anything to do with it, but it shows again how fanatical the hornsent were in their beliefs.
That's what I was thinking also after I had some time to work it out.
Actually I found one more thing. From the Manse Hall site of grace, take a right and then a left to find a small room with stone fingers and those finger egg-looking things mostly hidden beneath some cloth. It seems Midra was studying the fingers, and perhaps that's how he came into contact with the Three Fingers.
