It’s not cheesy at all.It’s a Darren Star production! While it is escapism, it is a Satirical, which means it is darker than Janet Jackson’s armpits. People are just so desperate to play smart. This series is so intelligent, it has a message few could percieve, because nobody wants the truth. They would rather watch that series The Maid which is so miserable, those who actually enjoyed that show will most likely be 6 paychecks away from sleeping on a park bench with a Burberry rain coat.

I mean...this show is escapism not reality. Why do we constantly have to hold TV to reality standards like we all need to morally be taught a big lesson every time? It's so annoying. Pretty soon people won't be happy until all that is left on TV is documentaries or reality show bs. A lot of the audience was just waiting for Emily to hook up with him. It was obvious it was going to happen from the first episode. If it wasn't to you or you don't like the story line...then maybe it isn't the show for you.

Well it’s not exactly feasible. Emily in Paris is produced by Viacom and You is produced by Warner Media. Both of them would have to sign off on even a cameo happening no matter if Netflix has the distribution rights to the shows

Someone said that Joe is more likely to fall for Camille than Emily. I feel like Camille has room for character development. Emily is already a lost cause though, so I wouldn't mind if she got killed off and Camille and Joe end up becoming the main characters. The plot would then be about finding Emily's body, which would make the title 'Emily in Paris' stay relevant.

@Spooky Season i understand where you’re coming from. i don’t really see the point in arguing about a fictional show when there’s more pressing issues in the world. i just wanted to say that in terms of representation, the show makes it seem like french people are inferior to americans and they use their only asian character to make racist jokes which doesn’t really sit right with me. if you enjoy the show, that’s good for you, but people are allowed to criticize it :)
Emily is my least favorite character of them all. She stabbed Camille in the back, had no sense of right and wrong or what so ever, was a complete hypocrite throughout the whole 2 season, lying to Alfie and Camille, who absolutely did not deserve this anyhow. Both were kind and generous to her and showed her nothing but respect and love. Gabriel is also an awful character - playing with Camille and not respecting her feelings as if she is some kind of a toy. This is not okay people! Please stop romanticizing and normalizing betrayal!
On the other hand I love Sylvie - authentic, unapologetic, intelligent woman with depth of character.
It's real life. No one is normalizing anything. This is how the world spins. Chill, and get used to it. Also, what do you want a "Cinderella" story? with synthezized plastic relationships? It was not enough for you that for generations girls were fed an unrealistic image of relationships from silver screens? Screw it!
People were wondering how she could ever afford her lifestyle on her supposed salary before, but I think they amped it up by about a factor of 10 here.

It is not cliche at all! Darren Star produced it. Darren is the same producer who sent Carrie Bradshaw and Brenda Walsh to Paris, 2 of the most Iconic TV characters in American history. Both girls hated Paris and missed NYC and LA respective. So Emily is a new twist, she loved Paris and she is from Chicago.

Honestly I watched this during the darkest time in my life. My dad was a month in to his stay at hospital with covid and this show was honestly escapism. I’m currently a social media assistant for a fashion company and this show weirdly motivated me too. I know people bash it but it made me so happy!

i finally watched the first season last night and actually really loved it, it's camp
I love it and can’t wait for Season 3. It’s gorgeous, witty, sharp and seemingly frivolous but in the end contains all the best (and worst) aspects of life, including love, friendship, heartache, magnificent scenery and luscious fashion. Lily Collins as Emily is adorably vulnerable and conflicted, sassy and smart. The whole cast is brilliant and often hilarious. It’s as “fluffy” as Jane Austen: seemingly about manners but really about wit, wisdom and human foibles we can all understand. Great writing, directing and comic acting. Wish it would never end and may revisit it again and again as I do Austen’s cleverly disguised masterpieces.
Can’t wait to see Joe!

I don’t understand all the hate this show gets. It’s escapist fun. It’s supposed to show this ideal look of Paris for this 20 something girl living as an advertisement executive. It’s supposed to be dumb, and light, and optimistic. It helps people forget about everything else going on in thier lives

That's why I don't like it at least, and I only live next to France. God knows what the French themselves thought about this nonsense. This gets a second season but shows like Dirk Gently get cancelled? Ugggh

I absolutely love this show, watched season 1 and now season 2, sit and watch episode after episode! Such a fun show, colourful and lots of glamour!!! Paris is amazing makes me want to go again and again. I also love the clothes if i was younger i would certainly wear some of those outifits!!! Just amazing!!! the actors have played their parts so well with lots of fun just what we need in this world of the unknowns we live in!

Unpopular opinion: I love Emily's outfits they're just so unique and it speaks about her. Even though some of them are trained racks it just speaks that she's an individual and doesn't need others to tell her what's fashionable. But believe me some of her outfits are horrendous but it just makes me appreciate her individuality more.
It doesn’t say anything about her. She is supposed to be somebody serious, that likes rules and like she said “keep things tidy in a small box”. That kind of personality does not go with someone that dresses like a clown just because

i really don't think her outfits make a lot of sense. there's no cohesive style other than a lot of loud pieces (which isn't necessarily a bad thing or anything) but the way she sees herself doesn't mesh with how she dresses. I could see her in a more minimalist style with some extravagent pieces sprinkled in. I'd also love for shows to have characters outfit repeat some more. with her salary there is no way she can afford all those chanel and lux designer pieces
