      Word. I spent a crapton (for me) on a semi-high-end office chair almost six years ago and I've not noticed any reduction in comfort yet. The 200-300 USD "gaming" chairs I'd tried before started disintegrating within two years. At that attrition rate my ~700 USD chair looks like a damn bargain in hindsight.

    • @SleepyFen
      @SleepyFen Před 5 měsíci +2

      @@hedlundhad a dxracer which lasted a good 3 years before I ditched it in a move. It was decent, but not great. The biggest issue I had with it was the bucket seat - I didn't realize how annoying the lack of leg freedom would become over time.
      I since invested in a secretlab evo2022 and been loving it ever since. It's been 1½ years and it's pretty much as good as the day I bought it.
      To circle back to op's point, I definitely agree that chairs are best reviewed after months of heavy use. Preferably it would be 12 months of heavy daily use, but the issue with a test that long is that many of the gaming chair manufacturers update their products yearly with a new version, for better and worse invalidating the old review.

      Personally I always found the Aeron to be quite uncomfortable. After testing them out for a while I found chairs like the Embody or a Steelcase Gesture/Leap v2 to be so much better. Ultimately I decided to stick with the Gesture, mostly due to the amazing armrests and because it comes with a proper, and actually good headrest which is something you always have to retrofit on Herman Millers.

      A 1-year warranty on the most concerning (durability-wise) parts of the chair is atrocious for that price. I'll have to wait several years to see how it fairs for people that bought it before I consider purchasing this. Or I might just get another Aeron.

    • @Ericxx-yx4rk
      @Ericxx-yx4rk Před 5 měsíci +20

      IMO the Aeron wasn't meant to be "comfortable", so much as just disappear while you're working. I never really think about my Aeron except when coming across chair reviews. It makes my life easier to just not think about it, where every other chair I tried I was constantly shifting to get comfortable, until they fell apart about 12-18 months later. That being said, it's not for anyone. I noticed that people that want to slouch, bend their knees back, or find the seat pan too narrow, find the chair uncomfortable.@@pluesch.

      every product I have ever gotten from razer has failed in some way far too early and me making a claim has always resulted in some excuse / reason why the repair/replacement isn't allowed.
      my razer blade pro had power issues, would shut off randomly 1 day after buying it.
      I sent it back, they fixed nothing at all and sent it back with a cracked screen and refused to replace the screen.
      4 weeks latter keyboard keys started repeating, by the end of the year 3 letters where completely dead on the keyboard.
      the laptop was 4k USD razer blade pro 2019..
      next was my headset, the glue on the usb dongle separated and made the dongle stuck on my pc, had to remove with tweaser. I asked for replacement, they said the headset is under warranty not the receiver. then the left earpiece went out anyway.
      keyboard, sun made the plastic warp... yeh that one on me.

      @@Elvewizzy. Well you have to buy the Herman Miller chair designed for tall people outside of 95% of body types it's designed for. You have to look for the Aeron Size C, which has to be special ordered and assembled. As a 6'2" tall guy I've personally experienced this. I've tried the Aeron size B(The common size everywhere) and it didn't work for me. I was too wide as I was sitting on the seat frame just barely and I wasn't a correct fit for the lumbar support due to my lower discs being hurt years ago. If I didn't have my back issue the Embody would of been perfect but it is VERY expensive. The Mirra 2 was awesome for me but the front edge of the seat was uncomfortable with the frame closing on my legs towards the knees. What I settled on was the Cosm high back edition with the adjustable arms. The leaf style arms weren't worth spending the extra $100 on but everything else on that chair is awesome! The mesh hugs me while still giving me enough support without killing my back in pressure from extra lumbar support. It literally gave my freedom back at my computer desk.

    I use a Pea Green and Gold striped chair from the 1970s. Far more sturdy and resilient than any office chair I have ever bought. I've had it for a decade now and it's still holding up. Does it roll? no, but it's light enough to adjust position and made of wood.

  • @NoPhilter88
    @NoPhilter88 Před 26 dny

    It's worth mentioning that I did buy the Razer Fujin Pro. Within 5 days after I had received it and assembled it, the neck in the headrest broke and was no longer tighten able and was loosely falling in place, rendering it useless. Upon reaching out to Razer support, I requested a replacement headrest which I was then instructed to jump through hoops, including but not limited too, asking me how much I weighed (the headrest broke, I'm not sure how this is relevant?) taking a video of my problem, what I was doing when it occurred and sending it in.
    After deliberation with the support specialist and my refusal to do so, as I had just paid 1000$ for a chair that lasted 5 days (was within return warranty still) and the part that broke was a pre-assembled piece that had no involvement on my part what so ever...they caved and offered to send a replacement headrest.
    I gave the chair another 3 days and realized, I'm just not comfortable in this thing, ever. (To which ultimately lead to me returning it)
    - I'm 5'9, 165lbs. Average build. The fabric is tough a little thick and has a 'sticky' type texture, so if you're wearing shorts or like to fold a leg once in a while...it's a little painful actually.
    - The lumbar support is horrendous, tacky and actually undoes itself if you have the chair reclined, forcing your weight back on it, forcing you to tighten it up over and over again.
    - The weirdest decision on the part of the decision, of them all in my opinion, is that they attached the arms to the back of the chair, which means...when you recline the chair, the arms recline with it, this is something none of the CZcams reviews I watched, address. This causes the arm rests to be at an upward ramped angle when gaming and is extremely uncomfortable. I've never seen a chair prior to this one, designed this way, a completely brainless decision on the design teams part. Who wants to rest their arms on the nose of the arm rest, my arms don't bend that way guys!
    All in all, I personally recommend everyone to stay away from this product until 1. They make changes to these flaws. or 2. They appropriately price this product for what it's worth and it's not 1000$.
    P.S. I was previously using a Secret Labs Racing chair and it's more comfortable in every way, even including with my flattened cushion, which is why I was upgrading out in the first place.
    If anyone has other comfortable chair options, please let me know, as I'm still looking.

    That 1 year warranty on the fabric and mesh just screams, "our mesh will stretch out and make you sit on the seat frame", as I had the same thing happen to me within 2 years of owning a WorkPro 1000 ergo chair. The MSRP on that one is as much as $300 and at the time I got mine for $100 or something like that but it had a 5 year warranty for it all I think. I had to get it replaced due to the seat and I had an bolt shear off for an arm rest. So I had to get that warrantied as well and by god that was horrible. They sent me the wrong part multiple times and often some of the ones I needed had flaws in the finish of the arm cushion. I had so many issues that by the time the second chair bottom mesh stretched out yet again, they just gave me a gift card back in what I spent on the chair so they didn't have to spend more inventory on me!
    The fact that this $1049 "premium chair" doesn't give you a 10 year warranty just screams they are not confident in the chair lasting more than 5 years. 5 years is standard for many $300 and up chairs. Doesn't matter if it has "alloy metal" in the marketing, the material can still snap, especial with the other parts STILL being nylon on this overpriced chair. Mind you Nylon isn't a bad material for an office chair, it's a GOOD material as long as it's been DESIGNED to take the wear and tear of daily use. The "alloy metal" can break or bend too.

    It would be really worth it to do lang duration testing of these chairs. Razer products have a tendency to break after some time. I like their mice, but you do notice that they don't have a big lifetime. And like other people mentioned, that 1 year warranty of the fabrics makes me really suspicious. I'm also kind of wondering if the reason Herman Miller made your butt in the mesh hit the actual structure beneath is actually because of lifetime reasons for the mesh. I can imagine if that mesh has to fully support your weight, and perhaps some bounces on it, all the time, it can break more easily.

    As for 'don't cheap out on a chair,' from my experience $200+ on sale is where the decent chairs start. Mine was $250 and I'm starting to feel it wear down after 4 years which is incredible. I have to imagine the $500+ range would've been much more comfortable, but you can get some very good chairs at $250-$400. I'll admit though the plastic bits are a tad wobbly and squeak, but that's one of the trade-offs of a comfortable chair at $250 vs quality parts. I'm saving up for its replacement soon, I just wish these types of chairs were in-store so I could test them out in person.

      If you were to pause at 0:25 you'd be able to spot the differences. You get a cheap chair base with the old fashioned tilt adjustment, the mesh base is completely different, the lumbar support system is different, no headrest, no "alloy metal", the star base for the casters are of a different model, the armrests are 3D adjustable instead of 4D, and oh you do not get the adjustable forward and back adjustment. Just a static seat and you better hope it works for you. The cheap chair just looks like they took the basic chair from a different model and slapped on a different armrest and back.
      Both chairs looks like they are not worth it. You can get the $1049 chair features in a $200-$300 chair with a similar 3 or 5 year warranty with better coverage on fabric and mesh.
