  • Thank you very much to ectogod, my new editor for putting this video together! You did an amazing job!
    ---
The Gangrel have never considered sect politics of any importance, valuing personal freedom over the safety of the Tower, real or not. Even so, in these dangerous nights, the clan of Ennoia might find themselves exposed to the eyes of the Second Inquisition lest they hide themselves well.
If you're new to Vampire: the Masquerade, or are looking for further inspiration on how to play a Gangrel, hopefully this video will provide what you're looking for.
The Gangrel joined the Camarilla at its founding and was for many years a trusted, reliable part of it. Whenever scouts or fighters were needed, the Blue Bloods and Roses knew they could call for the Animals to aid them.
Yet with the awakening of an ancient evil at the end of the last century, the Gangrel left the Ivory Tower, becoming either independent or joining the Anarch movement. Some have chosen to remain with the Tower, a sign that the members of these clan still prefer their personal freedom over clan allegiance, but the departure of the majority of the Gangrel has left the Camarilla desperately looking for new enforcers.
In this video we will look at some of the common phenomena of Gangrel unlife, discuss their relationship with other clans, and of course take a look at how their Disciplines may help them survive the World of Darkness.
This video focuses on being a Gangrel in the Camarilla, meaning it does not discuss the Sabbat or Anarchs.
    Thank you for watching!

Fun Fact: WWF had a wrestler named Gangrel. Which the wrestler can still use the name due to the fact WWF never owned the name. So the wrestles pays Whitewolf to use the name and the wrestler who uses is a really nice dude. He had played V:tm as well.

Gangrel have one foot in the world of werewolves, not so much cause they can run with the wolves or share the same countryside with the Garou.
It is cause the Gangrel have to fight or run for their lives from the Wrym tainted monsters found roaming outside the cities' limits which the Garou are in a state of consent war with. .

My favorite clan. The lore behind them is amazing, and Protean is such a cool discipline. Even their clan curse is interesting. As for their combat abilities, I remember reading in the first book of the Clan Novel Saga ("The Fall of Atlanta") that even the highly organized Sabbat army filled with battle-hardened Lasombra commanders (not to mention Tzimisce war ghouls and Sascha Vykos herself) that took down the entire Atlanta Camarilla was worried about how many Gangrel would be around because, given the circumstances, they could be even more dangerous than a pissed off Brujah.

      @krispalermo8133 Před 2 lety

@@Syurtpiutha Cool information about the game.
As for the .. boonies .. kindred don't have to worry about making Stamina checks when running like mortals do. So a ten hour all out run will not be too much of a problem, which they could cover 150 to 200 miles worth of road. Cross country woodland or farm fields would reduce travel distance by half.
Then factor distance if they can turn into a wolf or bat. So in that regards the boonies is only a night or two run. Base on a kindred's age and generation/ blood potence they don't have a feeding restriction. So they can avoid humans if wanted. And my last game shop ran some real silly Gangrel games like it was a Disney animal movie cartoon.
House rule was when a gangrel can turn into an animal with Path of the Beast 6, they start having a hard time of Wanting to stay in human form. Like a dog visiting someone else's house, they just have to be in wolf form and lay in the center of a doorway on their back like a dog.
Since gangrel can turn into other animals beside bat & wolf, they will do a fly-by crap drop on someone's head. Then you have those who will turn into a grizzly bear and eat a few stray street dogs, mist travel into some rival apartment and leave a Gift.

Then deal with a wolf biting down on your knee at 40 mph. Add Celerity onto that and you have some kinetic impact force.
In the old game setting there was a story of a Brajah with one dot in Celerity reaching 40mph and could not reach a car driving off in time. The Gangrel turn into a wolf and hit speeds of 80mph, bite out the car tire, had the car roll over the top of the wolf and the gangrel was not slowing down. 5 dots of Fortitude made you harder than nails.

As a bat using Celerity, Potence, Fortitude, and dive bomb someone's head on a motorcycle traveling at highway speeds.
In one game a player started off as a falcon dive bombing at near 200mph and turning into a grizzly bear just before impact, following with Mist Form to flee from the scene.
Staying in animal form during the day just cost one blood point.
Most country gangrel take the merit: eat food, which only cost one blood point to pass food through the system. In animal form wolves and coyotes will live off of field mice, rats, and other small game. In VtM they give a listing on the amount of blood points you get from different size humans and animals, even covering rats.

    • @krispalermo8133

Werewolves have their own monstrous threats to deal with. In the old clan books it covers that the gangrel spend a good amount of time just running for their lives from the Wrym tainted creatures and other werewolves wanting to kill them cause of their own blood drinking wrym taint. Sleeping in the middle of rivers and lakes is the only safe means until the gangrel can merge into stone.
Most kindred are still human enough where they want apartments and houses to live in. Gangrel own only what they can carry, not saying that the gangrel don't have safe house for prize items but they travel light. Another note in this game setting, vampires can freeze solid from being out in the cold. So the choices for a country gangrel are go into cities for the winter and socialize or sleep winter off at the bottom of a lake or river.
City gangrel hold down apartments or they live with the bums in the cities' Maintenace tunnels feeding off of rats and stray cats. Once they can change into wolves or cats they play a game of racing traffic. Whoever is last to get ran over by a moving truck win.

If I had to play VTM I'd roll gangrel. But comeing from WTA that makes sense. But what are these claims they could wrangle a "lupine" Garou are pretty ridiculously OP in the WOD. Unless you are a pretty freaky old powerful vamp you probably don't want to come across a werewolf an any way shape or form. It's far from evenly matched. I think the best strategy for vamps is to stay as undetected as possible by Gia's warriors and it would make sense that gangrel due to their proclivity outside the city's and roaming that they would be the most likely to venture into territory that would be highly hostile to vampire's so they may have strategy of detecting and avoiding them. Makeing them an asset for other vampires that find themselves outside of home turf. But wrangle them 😆. 10 foot tall wrecking machines, that never tire, shrug off conventional damage without breaking a sweat. Rage makes them even more devastating and unstoppable and on top of that they can navigate the spirit world and use natural magic. Even if vampires where something they should fear they still wouldn't due to their purpose. Garou do not fear vampires maybe in certain circumstances they should. Vamps can be crafty. But vampires most certainly should and do fear Garou.
