- Let us go back to the very birth of the Cainites. We shall read together the Book of Nod, fabled Book of Nod, collated by Aristotle deLaurent and his disciple Beckett, and learn of the first murder, Caine's banishment to Nod, his relationship to the mysterious Lilith, and more.
In this first part of a trilogy, we will peer into Vampiric faith and creation myths. Before the Camarilla, before the Jyhad, there were two brothers who loved each other dearly.

In a Chicago Chronicle that I played, one of my characters was a Toreador Ancilla author and scholar. He had an extensive occult library including a copy of the Book of Nod (which certainly helped him being taken more seriously in his dealings with Clan Tremere). That being said, he made sure to emphasize to any of his Childer who would deign to become scholars that any study of Kindred History (or "Mythology" as he called it) is apocryphal at best. In fact, I am currently playing his Great Grand Childe, though not a scholar herself, was educated by her Sire who is a Professor that would not tolerate an ignorant girl as his Progeny. Still, any attempt by her to access the rarest texts in his library was greeted with something like: "Don't touch my stuff, Neonate!"
That sounds like a great character concept! Yeah I think The Book of Nod, Erciyes Fragment and Revelations of the Dark Mother are all sufficiently vague and apocryphical that they shouldn't be taken at face value; I think they make for excellent props and sources of quotes and wisdom for a character who might be interested in it. I very much want to create a Nosferatu Bahari at this point.

I'm fairly certain thats a warning that the thin bloods will sellout Kindred to the Second Inquisition for treating them like dirt. Not a terribly smart thing to do when your Vampire Messiah is going to be one of them.

@@ThePrimogen They did organize after a fashion in the Sabbat as the Pander's (I mean it was neither a clan nor a bloodline, but it was something more than any of the Clanless had under the Camarilla). They also had large representation with the Anarchs, but were still not considered equals by the Brujah (I know the Anarchs had members from other clans, but let's be honest, the Anarchs of the modern nights were like 90% Brujah)
Actually, now that you mention it... Chicago By Night touches on that, except it's not the SI - it's Lillith/the Bahari.
I assumed “us” meant elders, and thus the caitiff would align with the Sabbat

Oh, definitely. Go watch the Primogen's video on "the Week of Nightmares," it repeatedly referenced a red star, the strengthening of the Gauntlet (the layer in between the material world and the Umbra/Spirit world) and the Avatar Storm. Mage 3E references the red star being seen in the Umbra as well, as a very ill omen (plus the Gauntlet and Avatar Storm are pretty big deal, making Spirit magic much more dangerous and difficult). And in Demon: the Fallen, iirc, those same events are also what let allowed all the Fallen to escape into the material world, if they could find a host body in time.
So yeah... They're all tied together. Its one of the most endearing things about the WoD imo, that all the games take place in the same setting and each one is just an up-close look at one perspective in that world. I really hope WW/Paradox is able to bring out new editions of some these other games. Personally, I want - I NEED - a new edition of Mage! And Demon would be nice too, but I'm not holding my breath on that one.

@@ThePrimogen Exactly! It goes against most of what the sabbat, a major supporter of the Book, says. In my opinion, there must be multiple versions, or at the least, the noddists in the sabbat have found other texts countering what Aristotle has written. Whatever it is, i have learned that every narrator in the WoD is fallible. Entirely capable of being wrong in 1 way or another. And that the truth truly is, somewhere in the middle.
The Erciyes Fragments, was one of the coolest books that White Wolf released.
I will be giving it a look too, but I think I might cover it more extensively when I start doing Dark Ages stuff.

It was a great idea that never caught on-- having different types of vampires each in their own clan. There was a show on it, a really good book too called A Dozen Black Roses.
I stopped playing VTM, but I keep my book of Nod right next to my old family bible XD

Protests are still going on and people are still being murdered by the police. We've got issues over here in Sweden too, it's an international problem.

I was never a fan of Caine being the progenitor. The Gehenna Time of Judgement book left a bad taste in my mouth. I would prefer it to be a mystery, that's what I like about Vampire the Requiem. If White Wolf wants to do something with the Nodist Lore. They should make the narrative where it is revealed that the Vampires beginnings are more terrifying than what the Kindred thought it would be. They could twist it around saying it's not Caine who is the first Vampire, but it is actually Abel who rose from the dead changed and hungry for the blood of his brother's children for what happened to him. Or they could go down the route of making God Vampiric in its nature. There are so many twists they could do with the Nodist Lore. Hopefully, someday we'll see what White Wolf wants to do with the Nodist Lore and hopefully, it will be better than the Gehenna Time of Judgement book, because that book was just not good.
Oh! That's because it was bad. The Gehenna book is awful.
I really like the idea of Adam being the actual progenitor of Kindred, that would be an interesting twist.
I think when Gehenna was released, that was that. They were creatively burned out on World of Darkness and wanted to start working on Requiem, so I do feel like it was a bit of a letdown. Still, I will cover the Gehenna material as well!
Plus, Gehenna is retconned, so there's nothing saying that facts stated in that book are actually true! I know that both the Church of Caine and the Bahari are active in Cults of the Blood Gods, for example.
Cool video though i recommend you give exalted a try it really shows you how insignificant mortals & lesser supernaturals
are when compared to drug addled insane demi-gods though sadly while exalted was meant as a prequel to the old WoD
the idea was scratched all together leaving a just a few bits and pieces in WoD for example: The Ebon Dragon & Scarlet
Empress show up in Kindred of the East not to mention the strange "messengers" that keep screwing with hunters heads
The lore may not be officially canon but much of it still links with WoD very nicely. The Hunters being vessels for the once unconquered Sun was one such piece that could still be canon
I'm a bit of a heretic/crazy person but when I was Storyteller, I made it where Caine was the last Abyssal Exalted after the Ebon Dragon final war in the Exalted setting. Again, cause I'm a crazy person. Lol
