  • The clan of Saulot was once thought extinct, wiped out by the Warlocks. But the Salubri remain, scattered, hidden, but clinging on to their birthright and biding their time until Justice may be meted out.
    In this video we explore the history of the Salubri and their founder.

    I really wished 5e had Valeren/Obeah as full disciplines (alongside others like dementation for malkavians) but getting Salubri for 5e was probably the best we could have gotten.

      @LouisTravieon Před rokem +2

      I wish they would have left most disciplines alone. Especially Vicissitude and Obtenebration.

      It's a little disappointing how they changed Valeren to only work on vampires. Any vampire can already heal humans by feeding them Vitae, but thanks to that newfangled bane of theirs, it's a really bad idea for a Salubri to do that

      @jonathandevitto2515 20th was never intended to be an edition really. Onyx Path had already announced development of a proper 4th edition just a month before the sale of the franchise to Paradox.

      I like the amalgams... But would have preferred blood sorcery auspex and fortitude..
      Blood sorcery for a basic healing..

    Healing capabilities of any kind are a sure way to get me interested in playing something. The Salubri truly were too awesome to be allowed to live. 😥

    So, we're in a sort of 'prologue chronicle', set in 1000 AD. We had the choice to ask the storyteller for one or a few potential clans to sire our humans, but I left it to fate for my boy.
    Rough choice.
    His chief belief (pre-conviction conviction) was 'My survival is what matters'. He was big, beefy, carried a greatsword. Imagine if an early season JoJo character was a war veteran from Scandinavia.
    So, naturally, the Storyteller looks me dead in the face and says 'Your sire is a Salubri.'

    The best clans, like the best lore, open up weird possibilities in the game world that make the narrative interesting. The Salubri and their enigmatic founder do this in spades.

    For those interested in the theory saulot created the baali. Id like to give you a potential theory.
    The baali were not there own clan. They were salubri who twisted saulots powers into there own,allowing them the power to conjure demons and earthbound to the mortal plane.
    So perhaps the tremere were right about saulot making the baali. But they were not aware that saulot didnt create them. They did it themselves
    Perhaps why saulot had such rage for the baali was because of nergal and moloch. His diciples turned enemys.
    Thus the baali are one side of the coin to the salubri
    The salubris dicipline didnt come from saulots natural power. It was from golconda and his knowledge of kuei jin magicks
    While the salubri are compelled to empathy and healing the pain of others,the baali corrupt and destroy. Two sides of the same coin.
    After all,valeren could allow a salubri warrior to smite there enemys and shield themselves in energy. Yet daimonion can corrupt others,burn them to cincers with hellfire and conjure demons into reality.

      Bloodline? Are you implying, perhaps naively, that their Clan Founder is truly dead? Oh no, young Neonate, Saulot still lives. He has risen in the flesh of the usurper and is very much alive and in control.

    Oh man this is awesome stuff. The Salubri are such an interesting clan, and Saulot such a mysterious character. I hope they flesh them out more in the future!
    Its down to Salubri or Banu Haqim for most interesting clan in my opinion.

    The tremere elder ran for his life. His hubris had dammed him. As he entered the abandoned chapel...a man strode down its steps.
    "You know,funny enough i was going to let those garou and fallen elohim take care of you,would have saved me from needing to find you myself,but in the end,you just Had to get greedy and gain the only weakness that i can frankly exploit. How can i resist after that?"
    "Why do you talk as if i know who you are?"
    "Well,i suppose it wont really matter much will it? Ive waited centuries for this. I would say you havent aged a day,but thats like saying a toreador isnt beautiful or that a ventrue is often prone to arrogance."
    "Ok first of all i resent that! And se...no. no,no,no you shouldn't be alive standing there!"
    "Oh thats a bit rich isnt it?" The man above said sarcasticly.
    "Thats not the point! Wait. What weakness?"
    "Well,you did delve into dark thaughtmertergy. Didnt you?" It was then the man lept off the stairs,and crashed down. Golden,white and teal blue fire burned around him,forming angelic wings made of the otherworldly fire,as he bore a sword wreathed in the same fire. The tremere staggered.
    "Mercy...mercy! I will never return! I swear upon my sires blood!"
    "Yeah? Ill believe that. one question though? What was Her name."
    "Wh,whos name??" The tremere staggered back and fell. The salubri Methuselah sighed.
    "I figured as much. Her name was Eris Delilah,of the order of hermes. The woman whos magicks you ripped her from,and killed. And the only person i have ever held closer to my heart in the milenia ive lived. Remember her name,As i send you screaming into oblivion you Wretch!" The ancient salubri roared as his sword fell upon the tremere. The warlock screamed in horrible pain,as these flames were not merely fire,but holy at that,as the fire of samiels vengeance screamed and michaels fury bit deep,and savored the vampires flesh,and in moments,the tremere was ash. And even less. The fire was gone,and the ancient salubri walked outside in the daylight. His personal vengeance met.

      @vfanon Před rokem +1

      Wait, he did? Why did he accept it, so he could control Tremere's body and basically take over the clan? Idk this part of the lore

    • @mattd7695
      @mattd7695 Před rokem +3

      @vfa it's never been stated why he did it exactly. Some people think it was so he could take over the Tremere for his own machinations. Others think it was to further his own understanding of the soul. It's one of those questions I'm alright with not knowing the answer cause it adds to the mystery.

    • @vfanon
      @vfanon Před rokem +1

      @@mattd7695 Interesting! Yeah, I think I prefer it this way too. I lean towards the "exploring the soul" concept because how the post-diablerie merging/subsuming of the two personalities is super interesting to me.

    Wasn't there something in the clan book, that the Baali were actually made by Saulot? Partially were the Tremere right.

    • @muhammadedwards8425
      @muhammadedwards8425 Před rokem

      It's more likely that they were made from Saulot. The Banu Haqim had one of their members tortured into becoming Baali himself. When the Kuei Jin started becoming to friendly with their enemies, demons, Saulot's Asian childer probably got chopped up and doust over some humans. Poor Zhao Lat got his descendents murdered and blood stolen by the Kuei Jin devils
