    Great video and BTW, there is nothing better than getting your kids involved and they learn the trade. I admire your humility but don't take any credit away from you since you planned, tested, and installed this thing yourself. Great job.

    Just a suggestion use a why on your original outside down piece a a 90° elbow turned towards your whye. So the whole thing will look like the letter y flipped in the opposite direction. The PVC glue you are using is for cpvc water pipe. Use Oatey PVC glue comes with a green label. Otherwise you did a good job.

  • @samuelhorowitz5029PLUMBCRAZY

    They recommend you use 3/4 water supply line. And a check valve. Letting the water only going towards the pump per the plumbing code and instructions that come with the water jet pump.

    Thanks for the video. There is one big problem with your install and I would suggest you fix it. We all think about the pump failing but no one considers a failure with the discharge line such as a hard freeze that won't let the water escape. When both pumps share a discharge line and your primary pump can't push through the frozen line, the liberty pump will kick on and the force of the water pressure will blow that Fernco fitting right off (believe me). If you aren't home or sound asleep, you will have major water issues in the basement or crawl space etc. When you install the discharge line for the liberty pump have it exit above ground, 4 or 5 feet from the house. If you don't have some sign your primary pump failed you could go months not knowing. I am not a plumber but I learned this lesson the hard way.

      I had that problem of the external discharge line freezing above the ground thereby trapping water/ice and preventing subsequent water flow. k Solution: I enclosed the discharge line above ground with the 4" black corrugated plastic pipe used for drainage and then injected the volume between the corrugated pipe and the discharge line with foam insulation. Never had the same problem again.

      Did you put the corrugated pipe insulation on just the backup discharge pipe?

    If you connected the water supply line to a half inch line the pump will not work to its designed capacity for removal of water. Need to connect into a 3/4” line

    Why is it sucking water out so slow

  • @iceman846
    @iceman846 Před 2 lety

    As long as you connect above the check valve in the house your good to go . No need to do all that work outside

    Tip - start drilling in reverse for about a 1/2” then switch to forward

    You may want to consider installing Watts Duel Check Valve after your shut off valve from water supply. Great video always laugh when I hear the chipmunks voice sound on fast forward.

    Is it possible to put in a check valve in the main sump line before you tap into it with a Y joint to prevent back flow while the backup pump is working? Thanks for posting the video!

    • @aaa000777
      @aaa000777 Před 4 lety +1

      Yes, but if the first pump is overwhelmed with water, the Liberty Pump will make matters worse by trying to pump even more water out the same pipe.

    Thanks

    • @aaa000777
      @aaa000777 Před 4 lety +1

      Regular sump pumps don't have check valves, the Liberty pump has one built-in. It won't hurt to add a second one, but it isn't needed.

    I just had one installed. The pit is uncovered & the cover probably wouldn't fit back in. Should I have it covered to prevent radon gases?

      Andy Whittaker radon is an issue not everyone has. If it is a problem in your area then yes. You can test for radon.

  • @guitar1301

    That would not pass inspection in my state . there is no type of reduced flow backflow prevention as required by code. Without that device you can have a cross connection and contaminate your potable water

    • @gordonwright7974
      @gordonwright7974 Před 2 lety

      i believe there is a check valve in the pump to stop backflow into water
