      Anytime man! Go for it they’re not too bad once you get the hang of it. Rim strip (or a chemical stripper) is definitely a life saver when it comes down to it though.
      Blasting probably takes roughly 10 minutes give it take per wheel on my setup after stripped.

      I never used a specific mixture. You can use the test strips that they use in pools if you’d like but I’d base mine off the reaction (neutralization) I got when I put parts in. If it bubbles, I’m good. If the bubbles start to slow or go away, I add more baking soda.

    • @royalcoatspowdercoating

      Yes it is possible. But you’d need to completely strip the wheel and re coat. You wouldn’t want to do it over an existing coating

    Should fresh powder coated wheels have hairline scratches all-over? I just had mine done through a local Ford dealership that I bought my car from and they tried to tell me because it is black that it will have scratches from being wiped no matter what. I think they don't want to take accountability for a low quality job. There was also some dried up yellow stuff on the wheels and tires, almost like a wax or polish, when I picked it up. I didn't see you put any wax or polish on those wheels so not sure what the hell that residue was from.

    • @royalcoatspowdercoating
      @royalcoatspowdercoating  Před 2 lety

      Unfortunately if you don’t clear a gloss black wheel you will run into the issue of micro scratching. I always let my customers know ahead of time before doing the job if they opt out of the clear.
      The residue you’re seeing could be the lubricant used when installing the tires on the wheels, but that’s just a guess.

    • @dontbemad628
      @dontbemad628 Před 2 lety

      Hmm..they didn't give mention an option for a clear coat. They are going to redo them because there was also what appeared to be like tiny craters and dust dried into the coating.

    • @royalcoatspowdercoating

      You can. But a garage set up like mine would take forever to get the existing coating removed and can potentially leave an uneven blast profile. So chemically stripping them before blasting is easier for me.
