I'm with Nik. If there are no solids, then you are drinking not eating, even if you use a spoon to sip.
What about yoghurt though. Are you drinking yoghurt if you're not chewing it?

You can literally buy campbells soups in cups so i agree. Also any of the condensed soups i'll still say you're drinking because of how little solids there are in it. I has to be chunky before i would say you're eating it.

I believe eating vs drinking (for a liquid) is more a function of method of consumption than any property of the thing you're consuming. If you're scooping up single mouthfuls of liquid and consuming them one at a time, you're eating the liquid. If you're consuming it directly from a vessel which has more than just a single mouthful of liquid (like from a cup or directly from a bowl), or sucking it through a straw, then you're drinking it.
"Soup of the Day" is typically a soup that was made on a previous day, and the restaurant wants to sell the remaining soup before it goes bad

If the soup is good, they will come for it. I make 4 gallons of soup every week at my restaurant. We are in a small town of less than 10000 people and not a very busy restaurant, but the soup is good.

Okay, so, a soup is something that can be eaten as a meal on it's own or as a side dish, where as a drink is something to be sipped on that isn't very filling and that you can have as an accompaniment to either. A milkshake is either a drink OR a desert, but not a soup.
Now, whether you drink/eat soup depends. I believe you drink BROTH and eat SOUP because the broth is just a liquid OR a liquid with small enough chuncks that it doesn't need to be chewed (like a smoothie) whereas a SOUP is eaten because a soup has chuncks in it and can't be drank has to be eaten i.e. chewed, and broken down in the mouth with saliva and enzymes before going down the digestive track.

i think it should be based on particle size of ingredients if you eat / drink but it can be both. do you consider soup and stews the same?
I mean if you're slurping up a soup then you are drinking it but if you're consuming it with a spoon then you are eating it. And in my opinion a liquid becomes a soup when it's nutritious and cooked(on a stove or wherever)
The thing is is going by the definition of if you chew your eating and if not you're drinking soup you're still eating because you actually you have to chew the things in the soup

i did the math on the mcdonalds order and the total calories is about 1,693. That honestly not that much for someone from the us or the uk. The average uk persons calorie in take is about 3,423, and the us persons is about 3,600.(by google searching by no means trust the math because it probably varies place to place)
