Hi Jerry, glad you captured the A340 coming in earlier, and what a stunning jet it is! I was only saying this morning I've never seen an A340 too, brilliant
With engine work like replacing a generator or other parts, the may not fly the plane but, they will definitely do an engine run on the ground that will include a full run up, full power, and etc. Each airline and/or the engine manufacturing will publish run requirements after repairs that will include so many minutes at different levels of power and etc.
Don’t forget the DC-8. The Comet was 1st for sure! However, the DC-8 was only 6 moths behind the 707.

I m going to push back a little on the wheel spin. Most aircraft retract the gear as soon as they have a positive climb which is just seconds after leaving the ground. They either have a break system or rub bar to stop the turn. Not sure of the issue with the A330. Hot breaks, I can understand. But, I’m thinking more a problem with a particular airplane vs the A330. Now, I’m very curious.
