I just love how you share your golf life with us, Gen. It really gives such a great perspective on grinding it out on the tour. I would be interested in how many up and downs you had when you miss the green and maybe your average distance from the pin when you hit the green. Having 8 birdie chances sounds pretty good to me nonetheless! The way you understand your game, you will only keep getting better, I am sure.

Every time you enter a tournament I have everything crossed that you perform to your best self, get a few breaks and complete for the top prizes. Regardless of the outcome, you always look the part.

I played a course last week thbat has a new greenskeeper. The undulating greens were playing much faster than I'm used to and several holes had the pin placed on the top of a crest. My putting stats took a huge hit that round! 🙂 Knowing that the courses I play are nowhere near as fast the ones you play leaves me in awe of your game and all professionals. Congratulations on keeping your card this season and best of luck in the next!

Gen , great insight of what is actually like to play on tour as a pro and trying to earn a living and maintaining your cards etc .
I have played golf for over 40 years and it was only the last 7 years I have really actually tried to analyse my swing and the overall game . Before that it was simply just going out and play fun golf and not care how many strokes I took other than to just beat my friends .
However , 7 years ago I made an effort to analyse my swing with the help of good techniques shown on some CZcams channels. From there I changed my swing and I didn’t realise I had the potential to be a much better player.
Anyways, I understand everything you talked about in your video and It’s really good that you analyse all your rounds and holes that you made mistakes on and how you may play it differently or approach it better next time you are in that situation.
As you say the number of strokes in the range of say 8 is so small and can simply be overcomes by even course management in most cases .
Study your pre round course more in depth and give yourself more chances where to miss it in the best spots and get away with a par for that bad error. As you will know these are very small percentages and that’s what separates the crème de la creme from the rest . They can still score even when they are not playing their best game .
I am a 7 handicap now and to play a good round and a bad round sometimes only takes a small margin to shoot 73 or 83 !

...plus sometimes too much analysis can be both positive and negative. Setting targets may be a better way for you to gain some consistency and therefore success. Work harder of course, but also work smarter. 🤟

The Red Guava looks like what we used to have a lot of in Hawaii. We called them Mountain Apples, because they grew on or near mountainous areas. Sadly, they're extremely hard to find anymore with so many invasive species that have taken over. But they are very good eating if you can find them.

Great vid, your tour videos are great. I would really like to know your sand save %, par save %, and puts per round and how they compare with your competition. I expected your driving to be good, it seems to be a true strength of your game. Putting pins on fast slopes and making you plan exactly where on the green you need to hit it seems to be one of the biggest ways they separate the pros from the scratch players.
What is your first tournament of 2024?

Hi Gen! I have followed your journey a couple of years now. I believe there are many players in your situation, fighting year after year for the breakthrough. Hi Gen, when i go away I get to play golf and do tourist things. Professional golfers often say all they get to see is the airport, the hotel and the golf course. How much of that is true and how hard is all the travelling? Different time zones, being awake at the wrong times and still being able to play good golf. Would be interesting to hear about how bad it is being a Professional compared to being a tourist going to all these place. Merry Christmas. Simon

Resort courses were always hard for me. Undulated greens with lots of break. When I played I liked the older courses that had smaller/flatter greens. My short game was night and day........Hang in there.

thanks for posting this. I'll never forget a lesson I learnt years ago about approaching sloping greens. I was elated to get my ball on in regulation but confused when the caddy told me it was OB. I said to him how is that OB? It's clearly on the green and in fact deep on the green which sloped down from back to front. And his reply? "On B0d0h boss" 🤭 ... years on I still struggle to get it on below the hole 😅 PS: he got his full tip and it was the cheapest lesson I ever paid for. Merry Xmas!

I think you already have the ability to land those shots inside ten or twenty feets near the hole, so I am wondering whether if there were other thoughts influenced you or you wanted to be more aggresive and made more birdies? It sounds like you need a full time, tour caddie. Someone to help support your game and for you to bounce your game's thoughts off of... and slow you down, help get you out of your own way. Hey Gen, do you not get in a practice round before an event?
I hope that you are able to break through the barrier. You have the skill and know that you can take it forward but is it pressure? Your rounds with people you know are so easy, but tournaments seem a bit off. It's probably nonsense but remove the uncomfortable nature of the tournament and replace it with a round with someone you know and rip it.
