Sephiroth impaled Aerith in a region of the body that doesn't completely destroy vital organs.
Dead bodies float.
The fact that she sinks proves that she was still alive (Aerith probably fell unconscious due to intense pain).
Cloud drowned Aerith.

I think Final Fantasy is a good RPG series despite all the hate that people throw at it. Sure they weren't perfect but most of the games were good in one way or another. I noticed a lot of hate here on the comments and I just don't see why. I guess because it's so popular people love to bash on popular games just because a lot of people like it and they don't. Although no one ever bashes on Call of Duty and I don't see why given that it's literally the same game every year.

Agreed FF has some lame stuff about it and fans but over all,at its best of the series, it truly is EPIC and ages well.While CoD at its best is generic,mediocre fps that time will eventually forget as a passing fad for meat head bros.CoD is like the 'Pogs' of these newer generation of casual "gamers" ,except not as inventive.

Final Fantasy Tactics is the shit. Such a cool story integrating heavy themes like corrupt churches, class discrimination, impoverished war veterans and political intrigue. The job system is complex and lends itself to multiple replays. None of the characters are annoying or cartoonish with many of them having clear and understandable motivations. The soundtrack makes great use of woodwinds, horns and bells giving it a medieval flavor. The sprites are detailed, the maps are unique and the art design of the summons are on-point. I can't say enough good things about FFT. Lord knows how many hundreds of hours I've put into that game.

Well said man, in overall, when I think about story quality and depth, and also, the message it gives, I came to the conclusion that Final Fantasy Tactics it's the most complex so far. Though it got some flaws in the case of supporting characters development. Ramza and Delita's story it's just incredible, the game it's like a reflection of the inquisition era of the mankind, it has the message that history doesn't tell us the truth, maybe the history of mankind isn't what we think it is. Well, just saying, what an awesome game, but for the gameplay... I gotta say it's just some black or white, I mean, or it is too damn difficult, or it is too damn easy, depending on your experience playing it.
It is funny that all the games are called "Final" Fantasy. But there is a reason behind that. When Square made the original Final Fantasy, the company wasn't doing well and was going to call it quits after the game was completed. So it was going to be the final game they made, hence the title. Then irony struck and the game was incredibly successful.

I have remade this entire game of Final Fantasy VII in LittleBigPlanet 3 the whole thing is on my channel if you want to subscribe
one big reason the game stood out that most people don't mention is the in depth character arcs it gave to its 8 supporting characters each one had a section of the games story to be developed to a point we care about them and all their designs were flawless and memorable , no other final fantasy has a stronger supporting cast then ff7, then you add the story, music, reviews, sales, simple and complex materia system, length, chocobos and one of the most iconic villains in gaming sephiroth and their isnt really a discussion as to which is the best!
I mean nine memorable charcters an acheivement for any game!
Cloud, Barret, Tifa, Aeris, Red XIII, Yuffie, Cait Sith, Vincent Valetine, Cid Highwind,
Don't get me wrong the other final fantasys past and present are amazing games in their own right but their party members are not as devoloped or memorable as 7's
One of my favorite games of all time, I was 13 when it was released and I have a lot of fond memories of playing that game in the 8th grade. I thought this and 8 (which was underrated in my opinion) were two of the best

MrGorillafist Tellah died casting Meteor against Golbez, but Golbez didn't directly kill him. Also, Golbez isn't the main villain of FFIV.

One day, given enough time, like 20 years gaming will be so advanced that they will have no choice but to remake it with gaming technology that we can barely imagine, imagine seeing GTAV in 1982, now imagine games 20 years from now, the remake has to come eventually.
Get it on PC, there are mods that update and change the models. There's an Advent Children version and a regular one that I know of.

Two things: One - there will now, nor will there ever be, until the end of days, a Final Fantasy game that doesn't at least include a "Cid".
Two - That quip about Barret being what "Japanese people think what Black People are like" is true on *so, so, SO MANY Levels.* I continue to wonder to this day why. I don't think that Barret is such a bad character. He's pretty neat. He has an extended couple of plotlines during the entirety of the FF7 storyline, and such emotionally driven roles. And how awesome was that story of how he got his Gun-Arm (Along with Dyne's, AAMOF)?
But as great as he is, that's about it. He just hangs around for the rest of game and doesn't even get a spin-off. Vincent stole that spotlight, and despite having such an IMPORTANT role in relation to Sephiroth, the entire stupid game could be beaten without him.

Finally! Someone mentioned someone else's death instead of AERITH/AERIS! I found Minwu, Tellah, and Galuf sad because they sacrificed there life to help. Aerith/Aeris was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. You can hate me, but you know I'm right.
Be careful you may get flamed.....good game......but in my opinion FF7 is easily one of the most overrated games ever....though still good. My theory is it was the first highly advertised rpg game in the US at the time and it also got many people into RPG's after being blown away by the cut scene ability of the PS1, I speak being from that era and having many friends who never touched an RPG prior to FFVII release.
Aeris wasn't at the wrong place at the wrong time, she was praying for holy. She basically gave her life to save the planet too.
Phreak10 I see your point, but did she know she was going to die? All the others knew they would die and risked their life for the heroes. They died gallantly, she died memorably.
GoldenBowGuy She probably did, she knew Cloud couldn't face Sephiroth and told him that she would handle him. (while Cloud was sleeping/ in a coma she was talking to him in his dream just before you head to bone village).

Wrong the game is awful and singlehandedly killed the Final Fantasy series. Go watch the review made by Razorfist and you will see what the game is really like.
ahatt96 final fantasy 7 was awful and almost killed the franchise? ummm did you play the game when it was current? or are you basing your entire viewpoint soley on the opinions of other people. When this game came out it was INSANE. There had been nothing like it before EVER. It set the stage for rpg's moving forward and is still sold for almost as much money as current games. Even after this many years the only thing holding it back is the graphics. If they released an updated version of this game for any console and beefed up the graphics i bet it would smash sales records in less than a week.

While nostalgia can definitely cloud (Ha puns) some people's judgments on the "greatest games to ever exist." It's a subjective statement to begin with, so you're just arguing with a brick wall at this point.
But, I'd argue that you're just as irrational as Joe at this point. FF7 itself did nothing but succeed. And it certainly didn't kill the franchise considering 5 other FF's since its release broke 5 million in sales.
In terms of the actual gameplay? It's no different then its predecessors other than having minor differences in how you obtain spells and customize characters. There was never any grinding unless you decided to yourself, so you must be a fool. "Repetitive gameplay" is a silly thing to suggest, considering it has been the same for 6 games prior to FF7... If you don't like JRPG's, then don't play it.
The story being bad is arguable, it's certainly confusing and has occasional weak story telling. But *in my humble opinion* it definitely wasn't "awful."
Do yourself a favor and create your own opinions rather than relying on Razorfist for thought.

Shadow can survive at the end, not only that but during the end scenes it shows who's under the mask.

eyad mardini i love Kousuke Fujishima's art work, though the image that i am using is a fan thing, but i love how they got her proportions right, most fan art like to exaggerate them, and it pisses me off every time.

Back when I first played FF7, I thought Sephiroth was an old man what with his hair looking grayish. I don't think anyone considered him effeminate looking until Advent Children or maybe KH1. Never heard a word of that when the original FF7 first came out. Also the manual had his age at unknown years of age so that's also probably why I thought he was old. A lot of what this trailer tries to make fun of is mostly stuff anti-FF7 fans keep hopelessly spewing and it's really stretching it. Usually because they like another FF game more and can't stand why so many like 7. All I remember hearing from objective and honest people (those that never played a FF game before) back then was how awesome the soundtrack, game design and story was. I also heard that a lot from FF4-6 fans. It still is actually. Beat it in 2010 twice after years of not playing it, both in regular ATB speed and really fast active ATB speed. It's just unfortunate how this ridiculous cult is over the internet.
Davor Basic Hojo is referred to as a "him" and "that guy" by Barret a minute or two after Hojo was introduced in the game. I don't see how one could miss that.
He had presumably gray hair. Also, he was a polygon model most of the game so how could one tell? Another thing, smooth skin? The graphics are from 1997 and this is Japan we're talking about. They have smooth skin for practically every single character out there.

Xenogears is a fantastic game but I don't think it was popular enough for an Honest Trailers. It sold less than 300k copies outside of Japan. Most western gamers have never even heard of it.

There is no such thing as "best" Final Fantasy. Each game is great, and at the same time each game is different, but in different way FF IX was without doubt my favorite(although i like CT just _slightly_ more) Bu i will never objectively say that it's better than VII, or VI or IV or VIII (or the other way around)
The Keyblade Apprentice I got bored playing FF7 and didn't make it through the first disc. Now I'm playing through FF9 for the first time. I'm on the third disc and so far it is my favorite game in the series.
