- Once upon a time, Alex Hirsch really didn't like Dipper vs. Manliness. I figured this would be a good opportunity to discuss how writers can get stuck in their own heads when creating. Plus, this show is like, 10 years old now, and I wanted to commemorate it with a mini-sode.

"This show doesn't really have any bad episodes" took the words right out of my mouth.
Yeah, this episode definitely wasn’t my favorite. It wasn’t bad and it had a good moral, but there have been plenty of far superior episodes
The main thing that I hated about this is that 2 of the same things were happening at once, Stan becoming a gentleman and Dipper becoming a man, with both basically failing. The episode had a wonderful moral but a messy plot line. I still overall love this episode though because there is no episode I don’t like.
I whole-heartedly agree with Alex here. This episode was pretty much mush compared to the rest of the show, and what is learned in this episode never again reappears in the series.
I must’ve been one of the lucky few to have this recommended to me
such a thoughtful, introspective look at alex hirsch as a creator and what it means to be a creator in the first place, all done in such a short timeframe! your channel is a gem!
The only thing is, I often loose confidence in my work only after I make it "better". When my creations line up with the definition of quality that others say I should have, it no longer feels like the work I wanted to make, and I loose interest, because it was the "bad" version that made me so passionate about the work in the first place.
I think the episode is a little lackluster, but I like how it supports the fact that men can like "girly" things, and there's nothing wrong with it. Other characters might've made Dipper feel insecure, but then he grew to accept himself.
It’s pretty reassuring that Alex came to like this episode. I guess I never really thought about a worst episode, but personally, I always loved Dipper vs Manliness. Firstly I find it highly quotable, and secondly, I’ve actually found myself in moments of self-reflection going through Dipper’s arc. I love the ending concept that the manliest thing is doing what’s right, and it’s honestly shaped a big part of my worldview. Thanks for reminding me about it!

I also loathed this episode simply because of how Dipper faced constant suffering simply because he doesn't fit societal "standards" on how men are supposed to be. It doesn't make any sense since he's a pre-pubescent boy. Also, these manotaurs are also gross to look at and I don't like how they boast around their manliness, like any manly man would do.
I love that episode it’s one of my favorites
So underrated
Very interesting
Roadside Attraction is my least favorite episode but I didn’t like Dipper vs the Manliness either due to how much Dipper was so insecure with himself. However, Stan quotes just sums up the episode
