- The first Skoota 32 was built at the head of a very narrow Cornish creek. Launched at 8pm on August 13th this video shows the first motor, 8am on the 14th. Note, no audio so please read the description below.
First test was manouverability. Even Mike, the boatbuilder who had never helmed a boat before, found it easy to adjust the engines, one forward one reverse, and make the boat turn on the spot.
Once into Plymouth Sound we could open the throttles a bit more (but not the full amount as the engines were new). Easy to reach 20 knots even though the trim wasn't quite right.
Finally motor back past Southdown Marina to the Multihull Centre for the night. A very successful first trial!
You can build your own Skoota 32 in foam sandwich using plans by Woods Designs. Or have the boat professionally built as Mark did.

this is the boat that I want to make and live on,trying to save up to buy the plans. and well use her to plow the water ways of the U.S. very cool lay out, hope to do a show on her and my life with her.
That was quick!! I only uploaded it a minute ago. I will be posting an interior layout video next week
very good videos i do like the woods 32 over the 28ft have kept a eye on your show for some time..thanks for sharing.
The coffee mugs sitting on the curved coach roof at speed, tells you how the ride and stability is.woods designed it so you know its seaworthy
Thank you for watching and the compliments! Have you seen my new Aegean 30 powercat? www.sailingcatamarans.com/index.php/designs-2/6-powercats/521-aegean-30-power-catamaran It needs a smaller lottery win!
Congratulations to all involved; designer, owner, build team, riggers, etc. Very glad to hear the 22 knots. I did give RW a prop spec and he said you maxed rpms; so super curious what would happen if you drop down a half pitch because my spec was lower iirc. Best of luck! It is a really great rig and I can't wait to get some fuel economy numbers on a longer trip at cruise.
Thanks Dan, the revs would have gone above 6300 but I held them there.
No not at all! The owner is very happy with his boat and has cruised it far and wide. Including a trip from Cornwall to Holland. Several other Skoota 32s are building
Has this project been abandoned?
