Some countries insist that a chemical is proven safe for short and long term use before it is allowed to be sold. Here in the U.S. that was not the rule and now it is going to get much worse.

Yes, we can expect many more forever chemicals and similar products to pollute the environment with this decision. The title is actually incorrect, this will potentially affect the entire world. PFAs have been found in the bloodstream of basically every human that they have sampled - thanks DuPont! I don’t know when republicans lost the thread, but the amount of disdain that they have for their fellow citizens and average Americans is shocking, and even more shocking is the number of votes they still get despite that.
For instance, I’d estimate that a _minimum_ of 60% of sportsmen (hunters, fishermen etc.) are republican leaning, yet they seem to be fine with allowing corporations and industry to pollute and rape the waters and lands that support their sports. Likewise they’ll continue to vote republican despite their water catching on fire due to the dissolved methane in it (from fracking), which Republican politicians seem to think is A-ok as long as it provides jobs. They seem to actively oppose the concept that reasonable regulations still allow for profitable economic activity while still preserving the environment. The right wing propagandists have also done a fantastic job of pushing the idea that scientific research supporting various policies is to be doubted and rejected since it’s done by eggheads who *must* have some ulterior motives and agenda of their own.

If you look at Clarence’s and Alito’s appointment to the supreme court through the lens of today, you will see the “long game” the heritage foundation (early 1980’s) has been playing all along.
Replacing both justices with younger ones who will carry on the christian nationalist goal is not new, we’re just clueing into it now.
It’s an organization, playing the long game and the patience required, is just the price a slow coup has to pay.
Nazis took 10-15 years before it really established itself into the mainstream.

Man, I'm glad I'm already halfway through my life. I'm not American but I suspect this ruling will mean that at best I've got 15 years more that I can even leave my apartment, if that. I have a condition called MCS where even small amounts of the chemicals (which are bad for everyone just much worse for me) which are commonly put into perfumes (corporations are allowed to put basically anything into a product is they put perfume on the ingredients. There's no checks to make sure that it's even really part of the perfume. So like most cleaning products have formaldehyde in them, but you don't know that because it's technically part of the perfume. There's a good documentary on it called Stink, it's free on CZcams.) I suspect over the next ten years you're going to see companies swap out safer chemicals for really horrible ones knowing they won't be caught because there'll be sooo much stuff in the air from everyone's stuff (like inflation) to the point where the average life expectancy of Americans will drop dramatically. We've already seen the rates of cancer are much higher than they used to be in large part because of just how many unregulated things are going into our bodies that we haven't had time to evolve to deal with.
You could already argue that the US was nearly as corrupt as China, but I think this is the court basically saying, "Let's make it so nobody can sue anybody unless they have insane amounts of money. Let's make it so that the only people who can get any justice in courts are the people who can hire entire legal teams to just swamp individual judges to get what they want. No non-profit will be able to afford to bring anything to court because the courts will be so full. People won't even be able to get their day in court they'll just be held until they lose their job and then released which will reintroduce them into the labour market."
Beyond that since they know that congress basically does nothing, the courts will now be able to write essentially whatever laws they want with no challenge. A lower court can proclaim corporate tax is entirely illegal and as long as the supreme court refuses to take that up, now the only people paying taxes are the employees.
This is step number 3067 back toward abject slavery, it's just that people are noticing.
At this point the court is a threat to national security , but they know nothing will happen to them because Biden is busy taking his afternoon nap.
I think Biden will as always refuse to do anything, which to the average voter means they get to see the court cuck him. Like don't get me wrong if I were American I'd vote for him just on the sheer chance that maybe things happen and American can get back to being just as dysfunctional as it was in 2015. But honestly people are tired. Biden is about as motivating as a lecture from your grandpa. Trump may be an unhinged wack job but he's a wack job who at least can pretend to give care about his voters. He obviously doesn't, but they want to win and he wants to win. Biden wants to be steady and dignified and that ship has sailed.
The fact that six of the justices aren't currently being held at gunpoint under in a secure room proves that Biden doesn't understand the ruling.

    Arguments against Presidential immunity:
There are no grounds for Trump, or any president, to have immunity, and there are grounds for disqualifcation/impeachment, as it it stated in the impeachment clause that the president can be held accountable and impeached if convicted of high crime, misdemeanor, etc, and that they also lose pardoning power, therefore unable to pardon or acquit self, therefore the status of immunity can not exist in such a circumstance.
As well, there is no text in the constitution suggesting immunity, and the absence of such a concept should be noted, while there is the presence of accountability, due process, and definition/existence of impeachment for a person holding, or attempting to hold the office of president of the united states.
Even if he is not president currently, these articles of impeachment should bar him as he, Trump, is a convicted felon currently. Since he is not currently president, no vote, or attempt to try for impeachment, should be necessary for impeachment in this instance, as a qualification for impeachment has been met from Article 2, section 4, and that by the text of the clause, he is thereby impeached as his conviction of high crime is directly stated as a reason for impeachment in the plain text. Congress has the sole power to try impeachments, and article 2, section 4, puts forth the qualifications that need to be met to be impeached, as a moral guideline for congress to follow, regardless of partisanship, or personal belief, therefore, it is not necessary to try for impeachment in this instance. It is directly implied that congress has the sole power to try impeachment, but there should be no need to try for impeachment when the qualifications for impeachment have been met, beyond a reasonable doubt, and congress should expedite a vote in instances where no vote is needed if the qualifications for impeachment from article 2, section 4, have been met. He should not be qualified to run, unless his conviction is properly overturned.
If part 4, of article 2, section 2, of the constitution, directly states that impeachment following a high crime, couldn't that also apply to article 1, section 4, part 7, that they cannot ever hold office if impeached, couldn't the justification be made that since there is inherent impeachment through being found guilty of one of those qualifying factors under the text of article 2, section 4, would then apply to the text within article 2, section 2, part 1, regardless of the restrictions of firearm ownership due to being a felon in this instance?
Granted that if they can not be responsible enough to lose the right to own a firearm, they are not responsible enough to command the military.
Furthermore, since the implication of impeachment article 2, section 4, can be reasonably justified, that they also lose the right, as explained in article 2, section 2, part 1, of issuing pardons, then they therefore cannot pardon anyone, including themselves under the implications of article 2, section 4. That should inherently explain that there is no immunity for a person who is impeached through those implications, that there is only accountability, that a president, sitting or former, convicted of a high crime, misdemeanor, Treason, and etc, as listed in article 2, section 4. These should be the standard guidelines for maintaining law and order within the character of any president incumbent.
Lastly, arguing that a president can have immunity for claimed “official acts” should not be validated as the roles and restrictions of the executive branch are already present in the text of the constitution. Those acts are already protected, but using said power in furtherance of a crime, is still a crime, when found beyond a reasonable doubt, and should never be undermined as that is the principle of due process, and by that principle, along with the specification of accountability for a president that commits crimes, under those guidelines written in the constitution. Therefore, no such immunity exists. If such an argument were to be made during the Nixon Impeachment, then one could argue that some evidence submitted violates the immunity granted by protection of official acts, and could be used to hide the truth of events, from prosecutors, from the justice system, from the American citizens, all because an official act in furtherance of a crime, would be protected.
Just as NDA cannot be enforced in furtherance of a crime, or attorney client privilege cannot exist if it was in furtherance of a crime, because regardless of the communication, or the medium in which the conspiracy to commit such crime has took place, these are relevant truths that should not be veiled when it's relation can be proven either in front of a judge, or grand jury, beyond a reasonable doubt, as is that a principal concept of the justice system, as set by precedent from prior impeachments, and other cases involving communications through and in furtherance of a crime. Thereby the veil of immunity through official acts cannot exist, as it will trivialize over A century of precedent. No such idea of immunity for any president exists as the foundation of the constitution relies on accountability and for balance amount branches, as those concepts are highly prevalent within the text of the constitution.
Hopefully, this drafted opinion may add more perspective to these various issues, within our government, within our country, to uphold law, order, justice, and the rights of every American citizen of this country, as our democracy, our republic, and our country is under enormous strain as ideologies continue to clash. That aspects of this opinion can be taken into serious consideration to aide in the protection of our inalienable rights individually, as well as the rule of law, and due process, for all, and that this effort to preserve the very foundation of our government, and our constitution, not be in vain.
No one person, even an elected official as prestigious as the President of the United states, should be above the law, as no person is to have such unmitigated privilege, as their term is meant to be temporary and contemporary to each generation of our society, yet that should not, nor is it implied in any way, that any person in government is immune from due process. The texts and positions of this institution, of this democracy, are simply positions to be filled for a period of time, and to be executed using the very texts and documentation as instructions for fulfilling those elective and appointed roles, as there is a reason that these checks and balances exist, and to concede that a sort of immunity exists, ultimately undermines the purpose of these checks and balances.

Voting alone is not going to get us out of this corrupt system (still vote, especially for state gov reps). We must build local community, support mutual aid and know ur neighbors. We ALL must try to create a united front.

"Judges are not experts" No, but expert witnesses are. Problem with Chevron, is, that it allows an agency to act as lawmaker and judge in violation of the separation of powers. Take the bumpstocks: ATF has considered them legal for decades and suddenly decides they're not anymore without any explaination for the change. Here the only resonable thing is to ask the courts and if changes are needed to go to the congress.

Yeah, the administrative state going 180 on rules under each administration is great for consistency and stability under law.
If one would read the Looper Decision, long standing prior rules, even original rules that had been in place for decades will hold a lot of weight the administration would have to overcome when making some new rules.
Taking the bump stock rule as an example, for over a decade, the ATF insisted a bump stock does not convert a semiautomatic rifle into a machine gun, Then all of a sudden, after 700,000 were sold, relying upon that definition, it's a machine gun because the ATF, under Trump, decides it is.
The Frame and Receiver rule on what is or isn't a firearm, rules that had been in existence since 1968, changed not by Congress, but by some nameless unaccountable bureaucrat.
The Pistol Brace Rule, again, for more than a decade, ATF said they do not convert a pistol into an SBR, went back and forth in White Papers if shouldering a braced pistol without a tax stamp was a felony or not, but it was not a SBR itself. Then after up to 40 million were in civilian hands, relying upon pistol braces does not convert pistols into an SBR, some unaccountable bureaucrat decides they are SBRs, requiring a tax stamp, and it's a felony to own a braced pistol without a tax stamp.
Now, the ATF, EPA, USDA, FDA and the rest of the alphabet agencies has a much harder time reversing or altering rules to fit some political agenda without an act of Congress.
