I honestly think this may be the greatest Red Hot Chili Peppers song of all time. Obviously they have plenty of other insanely good songs, but there's just something special about Scar Tissue. The lyrics, the guitar solos (especially the last one), the meaning behind this song (knowing everything the band went through right before this time). It's beautiful.

I grew up with my dad listening to old rock,...he'd always be singing to me and trying to get me to dance,...from beast of burden, to kid rock, to some Marley, and some oldies like my girl. I used to shy away from him, and get embarrassed, especially if I had friends over....but dang those were actually the good times,....and not a day goes by that I don't miss him. Reminds me of backpacking in Thailand as a teen. I actually struggle to listen to this album because of just how nostalgic it is, mostly in a melancholy way, in part through wishing to be back there in that time and space, and also from how sharply it reminds me of just how many years have passed, too quickly, it feels. I've lived in Thailand, happily married, basically from shortly after this came out, and I'm not depressed or feeling any kind of way in general. It's just something about where this album takes me. I probably love it, and would have RHCP playlists and whatnot, but as it is, I just listen to the odd song by them maybe once a year. Funny, really.
I was in middle school getting up early mornings listening to this on MTV... Sounds crazy but it soothed my soul.. I miss the simple days... Good music... Good friends... Good times....
