I sure hope this works out. I was raised a ford man but now have mostly gm. Nothing would make me happier than for gm to show the world the stellar heights and capabilities of General Motors.
Please please guys make damn sure this thing is fully engineered and ready to rock. No more X car type fiasco, or other various hold hearted efforts over the years.
Done right this absolutely can make Cadillac the standard of the World again. Do it for Cadillac, for GM, and for America. We can all use a home run and it's accompanying celebration right about now. Leave nothing to chance and hit it out of the park. Although I can't afford one of these we are all depending on you to reassert American engineering and manufacturing dominance.

@@brooksteer5629 well I own many cars from many brands and I've seen both buicks and toyotas with 300k on them running fine and I've seen hondas with head gaskets problems at 90k.
I would choose Escala all day long. Simply gorgeous. I've been a fan of Cadillac design for decades, but the Celestiq seems awkward to me.
Epic price
I’m ordering mine in January 2025. I’m so excited !!!
Looks incredible! Way better than the ugly G90 from genesis
More than a hint of Citroen DS here, don’t you think? Not a bad thing, in my opinion 😊
Good comparison. Bit of SM, too.
I have not yet seen a Lyriq in the wild. I don't expect to see the Celestiq any time soon
I've seen a few of them already just saw one a couple days ago in black 😄, it's a new vehicle too so it's unrealistic to expect to see them everywhere already. And you'll probably see a Celestiq as often as u see a Bentley or RR
@@megatronusorionpax4900 You see RR and Bentley in the ultra rich suburbs of LA like in Malibu, Rodeo Drive, Holmby Hills, Beverly Park.
I live in Michigan, I see at least 1 Lyriq every other day.
@@Nebula1701 I haven't seen any in the DMV area. Except for those at dealerships.
@@Wankidy I live in Waterford and travel up and down the i75 corridor all the time and catch them testing.
How do they go about selecting the crew to build it.
They guy said from GM’s prototyping crew who made the concept.
When are we going to see this technology and craftsmanship trickle down to other Cadillacs ad well as other GM vehicles please.
I'd like to know why they went with the rear styling they did. Typically a hatchback look isn't associated with an exclusive, high dollar car. Especially when you see cars like the sixteen, for example, whichbto my eye was absolutely stunning and I'm shocked it never made it to production as a halo car. Instead we get the cts and ct5? They might be good but neither has that absolute steamroller looks of the sixteen. Both gm and ford have had some awesome design themes but very few make it to reality and when they do they are pretty watered down and only vaguely resemble the concept
Copying the model S.
The rear end dates back to early 1900's Cadillac
Looks like a stretched AMC had a baby with a SUV
I still wish they used the Escala concept I don't agree with them saying it wasn't the right car
Escala is nice, but it was on the wrong platform, it wouldn't be able to hold the batteries or motors properly. The Celestiq is much larger.
I really dig this car and can't wait to hear about driving impressions but with that MASSIVE hood, does it have a front trunk?
I'm guessing no.
I've heard that yes, it does have one.
Dang it, Roma, you’re pronouncing it wrong. It’s Celes-TEEK!
Ps: nice ride though. Wish you success.
I expected the chief engineer to show more enthusiasm.
It's hard to get excited when no one can afford your vehicle...
That is his character generally. Even though he does not show it, I'm sure he is enthusiast.
Why be excited? The styling is a disaster. They should have stuck with the design language of the elr. That was gorgeous.
He knows it’s already a failed experiment.
I saw a commercial for a rather premium Audi product, I forget the name. It was clearly aimed at a target audience that looked and acted the part. Mature man, beskoked suit, Grey beared . He had a definite presence and was being brief as he walked by another who of which maybe a sales representative. The ad agency did not joke around, it was top notch and the car was limited volume. I saw a celestiq commercial. It featured 20 something GIRLS and BOYS. Some were wearing what looked like designer clothing while dancing around while others wore something, i dont know? Those ones looked like clowns. As commercials are constantly repeating I can assure u I will switch channels rather than watch that kiddy commercial again.
Agreed, Cadillac marketing has been terrible for years now. I thought it was going to improve when they got rid of the Melody lady, but it’s getting worse!
I don't think it's a bad looking car, it's just not a great looking car. And people are saying $300k is too much, but here in Canada a Hummer EV is currently listed for $299k on Autotrader... At low volume they should sell but it might not give Cadillac the profile boost GM is hoping for. As 2023 rolls by I'll be paying more attention to Aptera production.
EPIQ
The luxury’s market has been adding SUV models and having good sales response, why a sedan . Is it just easier to design a great looking sedan?
Many of the $300+K buyers drive around in sedans, supercars if you have not notice!
Wow the RoboCop (6000 SUX) inspired rear styling is........Um....HUH.......Yeah.
Horrible Car, absolutely UGLY
In itself this is not a bad car. But at $300K it is a hard sell. As a potential Celestiq customer are you fully confident in GM's software capabilities(Hint: VW ID)?
I would rather take 7.5 M3 and start a rental fleet with 6.5 to gig workers... I would rather buy 3 Tesla Model S base and give 2 to family members... I would rather buy 2 Lucid and give 1 away in a raffle...
Trunk lip is a yard high. Yikes!
No right hand drive... not entirely "customisable" then... pity.
Mind you it does look like an awesome vehicle...
I’m very pro electric and we need as many electrics as possible. But at $300,000 this car will be as popular as a $75,000 ELR was.
I think the ELR had the exterior styling but the rest as a copy of the 1st year Chevrolet Volt! Cadillac never updated to the more powerful Volt engine either and let it sat to die in their showrooms.
The Celestiq is sold out. The ELR never got off the ground, because it was a much more expensive interpretation of the Volt.
@@firefox39693 sold out.,.all 100 or so of them? Problem is the technology for a great EV platform doesn't exist at GM.
I don’t think they’re going to sell many of these at the price they are asking for. Maybe if it was priced like a Panamera?
A Panamera doesn't have the customizability as the Celestiq, You can get down the very small details in this car.
How many do you think they are going to sell then at over $300K? The plant will make at least 400 annually. The panamera is regular production volume you see daily.
@@Nebula1701yeah but I think people who want that level of customizability will buy a RR. Not a Cadillac that looks like a Citroen lol.
@@maestroadam GM already reported they sold out the first model year of the Celestiq.
for 300K I hope it supports North American Charging Standard
LOL the NACS is not going to survive past Tesla.
Mindblowing gamechanging,GM is the best!
All these guys may end up working at tesla.
If they are lucky and can make the cut...
Elon does the hiring of Tesla engineers himself still! He does not ask floater questions during his interviews and will present several problems for the interviewee to solve! 😮 Of course, if you are recommended by a working Tesla engineer, that helps alittle!
Styling wise feels dated already. This would have been impressive five or ten years ago. Lyric has already had software issues, it does not inspire a great confidence in GM.
This is meant to be niche vehicle, but I still wonder if they will truly hit their goals. They may get deposits, but once it hit the market, people might see it is underwhelming and cancel.
It does look 10 years old already!
The Elmiraj and Escala have aged well, though. Probably should have made a faithful reproduction of those. Big fan of the Sixteen concept proportions too.
@@MrCarGuy the sixteen would have been an undeniable halo car.
not sure how this very expensive handbuilt car helps GM.
It's a halo for Cadillac to give aura around the Cadillac brand to showcase the best technology, features and design.
...🙄...that thing is ugly, no one wants to say it.....everyone knows it...
The result is a grotesque and hideous disaster. They should have continued to follow the design language of the Cadillac ELR which is Sublime and gorgeous.
I think the front of the car looks decent but the rear side and rear end is just ridiculous. This really gives you insight into GM's mindset. Thinking this so-called flag ship. Model is representing the company. Sad...
sounds like a bad deal.
Truly a silly name. The Latin etymology of it is less ridiculous and no more difficult to pronounce. Gotta put a Q at the end!
How about Cimarron ll
$300K for an Equinox covered with crap, too big to park anywhere, and inadequately tested. But add enough LEDs and they will come.
Haha nobody is going to go to a GM dealer and drop this kind of cash on a car.
Grossly overpriced and playing in a pool that Cadillac can’t compete in.
Are they going to sell it with undercoat in the F and I office?
He should be fired that is one ugly car.
Joke
*Cadillac awesome prototypes ALWAYS......awful execution EVERYTIME never look the same or close at the end.....Mr. Elon Musk buy them out to save them from themselves dumb arse decisions.*
