    Hey Tim - I'm new to Organelle (love it of course) but I am a longtime Ableton Live user - and have a Push 2 - I grabbed the new Orac and then plugged in my Push 2, but the Push 2 dsiplay didn't display any othe graphics - although the Organelle was reacting to the pads being pushed down - and the P2 seemed to be doing the same - but no graphics appeared on the screen. The Organelle is one of the new 2019 ones and I assumed it was shipped with the latest OS - so, in short, any thoughts on why the graphics are showing on the Push 2 screen?
    Really loving your work and your very engaging videos - love your style man :-) - thanks in advanvce if you can shed some light on the graphics thing - cheers Mike

      you need to start MEC, and select 'pushkontrol.json' with the encoder.
      its best to do this AFTER starting orac, since MEC needs to connect to PD to be able to send notes from the pads.

    This is so good. Thank you Mark! I have a question i struggle with all night. Could you please explain - the Overloop patch is not working as the original one in terms of eternal overlooping? I mean it record, but after it stops, the recording I did only play when I push the button with the recording. Is it okay or I am dumb? Sorry for taking your time.

    • @TheTechnobear
      @TheTechnobear  Před 5 lety

      odd it doesn't do that for me....
      what I do is
      a) press aux to record
      b) press aux to stop recording...
      after (b) it immediately starts playing the recorded audio.
      I can then (if i want) press a key to play one of the other recordings...
      does the above not work for you?
      (I assume we are talking Orac 2.0 here, and using the Overloop that I shipped with Orac 2.0, dont use the one from Orac 1.0)

    Wow! Heroic work dude, thank you!!! The sample shared folder thing seems potentially huge. And the modulation. And all the general workflow improvements. And...and...and... so much! kudos Mark, great job :) Can you also delete samples from the organelle? And I didn’t see how you potentially unlink LFO from a parameter after its assigned, but guessing that’s possible? One huge thing for me would be if there was some way to name presets and samples from the organelle itself. Like if there was a ‘name’ page or combo/shortcut and the keys could become some letters and numbers. Wouldn’t even need the full alphabet, just a handful....enough to name things in a meaningful way. Don’t know if that would be possible/feasible and/or masses of work? But yeah, just thinking out loud now, incredible work on this and PLENTY to be hyped about. I’ll hopefully get time to check it out tomoro. Thanks again!

    • @TheTechnobear
      @TheTechnobear  Před 5 lety

      Ipadodds Chan pesets are folders , if you rename the folder the preset is renamed. Sampkes can similarly just be moved/deleted in the sample directory
      You can do both either on the usb stick directly on your computer or via WiFi with the patch manager
      I’m loathe to do renaming on Organelle as it’d be so fiddly - easier to on a computer with a proper keyboard.

    • @TheTechnobear
      @TheTechnobear  Před 5 lety +1

      orac modules are a little different to normal patches, since they need to 'co-operate' with other modules .... so like a VST is not a just another application on a computer.
      you will find various videos Ive made on how to turn an organelle patch into an orac module, as its a fairly simple process. (many others have done this)
      also, check out my previous 'Orac 2: easter egg' video where I show a little special mode which allows you to run ONE organelle patch within orac as a module.

    Does this work on PC? I'd quite like to experiment with it but I don't have Pi or Organelle

    • @TheTechnobear
      @TheTechnobear  Před 4 lety +1

      short answer is yes and no ;)
      there is no binary build available, and I don't plan one for desktops, as its not a focus for me for Orac due to my time constraints.
      however, if you go to my GitHub repo, then you can find the source and compile it and it should work on a windows PC (though I've only tested on Linux/Mac).
      sorry, its not easier - bit its just me, in my personal time - even now it takes a lot of time/energy to continually develop/update and release orac ... so I have to set boundaries and be focused in certain areas.
      positively... it is all open source, so if someone else wanted to contribute to desktop builds, that is very possible.

      @TheTechnobear  Před 5 lety +1

      its a good idea, and I understand the issue.
      unfortunately it's difficult to come up with extra shortcuts, as most are potentially used by modules/patches, which restricts patch developers 'creativity'- so I've been very careful to not reserve to many for Orac itself.

      after a while, most users tend to get a bit of a feeling for where the 'limits' are.
      note: Im also considering adding some kind of 'cpu' load, so you don't have to exit to the organelle menu to check the current cpu load... but that only marginally helps, since some modules are very expensive on cpu.

      the Organelle has a full UI,

      TheTechnobear it’s late but I have to reply. I have installed. And it seems like something is wrong. When I open orac a beat is always playing. The modules accessible seam limited. I can’t access fx. And when I check all the folders on my computer everything looks ok. I watched another video and the things that he was doing were totally different then what was accessible with the same keys on mine. My email is shivasaas@gmail.com. If you could please email me a detailed “test” procedure to see if I’m able to do what others can. I would love that. As of now. I have watched several videos. And when I open orac it is already playing a beat. That doesn’t happen in any video I’ve seen. I just need help. I’m really stoked on the organelle. And orac seems like it would make it 10 x crazier. Please email. Thank you for responding too.
      It displays parameters
      Shape
      Color
      Timbre
      Transpose
      On first screen. But it’s already playing a beat. And the beat never goes off.

      Ra Shams it sounds like it’s working fine - the drums are a demonstration patch to show its working - you can change to other presets using the menu as demonstrated in the videos by pressing the encoder.
      I don’t have any detailed tests.
      Please ensure you are watching videos on Orac 2.0 , orac 1.0 was a little different. I’d totally recommend Loopops orac 2.0 video.

      put the zop file in the patches directory, then when you mount on Organelle - it will offer an install option.
      if you still have issues, please post on C&G forum

    hmmm the only thing I can't figure out quite is who to recall presets via midi. Could you explain that for me real quick? everything else works as far as midi goes but sending the program change does nothing for me.

    • @francismcfadden3305
      @francismcfadden3305 Před 3 lety

      Ahhhhh I see. it saves them in order (I was using to high of values because I was trying the 100 for preset - and 101 for preset +... which curiously didn't work but I actually prefer recalling them in more specific fashion anyway.) That's fine I suppose is there anyway to change which program change value is associated with each preset? would make things easier

    • @TheTechnobear
      @TheTechnobear  Před 3 lety +1

      should work fine, it has to be send on the 'main midi ch',which by default is midi ch 16.
      (remember orac can handle multiple midi channels)

      @@TheTechnobear Yeah it does just user error on my part. To change midi channels would I do it globally on the organelles main settings? cuz I've noticed when I change it in the "active" page and switch a preset it just goes right back to only recieiving on 16 even after pressing the save

    • @TheTechnobear
      @TheTechnobear  Před 3 lety +1

      @@francismcfadden3305 thats normal, all data is stored in the preset - there are no global settings for orac -- so you need to change it in for each preset in the router setup page.

      @@TheTechnobear Ah ok awesome thanks :). You rule man this has really expanded the function of this device for me, I'm definitely dropping a donation for your work man I can't appreciate this enough my guitar pedal setup is insane now haha. Two more things, it's not a big deal but I've noticed that my input and output leveling is not being displayed. Like I have the meters but there is nothing being shown when audio is pasting through is there just a setting I need to edit or something? Also is there a way to make it so that input level is up by default? I saw somewhere you mention that it's down by default because of noise but I don't have that issue. If it's just a puredata thing I need to edit I could easily do that too but I just don't know where the code would be to do that.

      Your have to delete the preset json file ... there is no UI to do this within orac itself.

    this is really obscure... I really dont understand what this does...at all... patchbox does not need this, like, at all to play with pd and save presets or whatever

    • @TheTechnobear
      @TheTechnobear  Před 3 lety

      Orac is best thought of as a modular application, where the modules can be programmed in PD.
      this means you can combine modules dynamically without opening the PD editor!
      of course like any applicaiton, its not for everyone, use whatever works for you to make music.

    • @curtisnewton895
      @curtisnewton895 Před 3 lety

      @@TheTechnobear so it launches multiple instances of pd ? I mean, I can launch my patches from the command line, and the whole thing is commanded from buttons/keyboards and displayed on a screen...pisound itself has a button you can program to launch patches...and jack allows for programs to connect audio and midi
      so I don't see where orac brings something new (at least on raspberry pi)

    • @TheTechnobear
      @TheTechnobear  Před 3 lety

      @@curtisnewton895 no... it dynamically builds a pure data patch composed of subpatches... and allows them to communicate e.g. one module might be a synth module, another a reverb , it allows the user to select these, and then combine them and passes audio between them... its also exposes each modules 'parameters' so that the user can update them.
      probably best idea is to watch my Orac on the Organelle video... and bare in mind the modules that I load are all in PD, so users can create new modules for modules that will automatically show up in the UI.
      of course the PiSound has no fixed UI, so this is done via a remote application or something like a Push 2 as a display.
      I think what your missing, is that this is all dynamic and requiress no technical knowledge on the users part.
      as I said earlier... if you find combining patches using jack/pd what you need then you might not be the target audience .. use what you know and make music :)
