    Correction: 15 to 20 years ago it was not CHEC who was doing the Highway, at that time it was Bouygues Travaux Publics, the French Company. The deal was made with CHEC through the Chinese in about 2010. It was the PNP Govt after that, between 2012 and 2016 who gave away all that land.

    Well it okay it was the jlp that invited China to Jamaica by Bruce Golden and it was the pnp who get the French contractor who give up after laying the highway from Spanish town to May Pen and the gave it up,but the Chinese never give up so why qaurrel with each other , I never see any foreigner take up lands put it in the luggage and leave with it, China have real estate also in usa as well.

      Yep. Good point. They can't take the land back to China

  • @texsradio3628
    @texsradio3628 Před měsícem +1

    Here's why. The PNP does not want the people to see the cou try progress under the JLP leadership even tho it was them who conceded the land to China Harbour, such progress will only make things more difficult for them to convince the nation that the country needs new leadership for economic growth etc.

    If not the Chinese, then it will be the Spanish or some other developer that would develop the land. Lets face it, Jamaica is getting good highways and roads, which makes it easier to travel from point A to point Z. Don't you think it's a good deal for everyone.

    The Chinese got Paid in Land for their services, the land was not Given to them; it is a transaction, something agreed by both parties involved. The Chinese has kept their part of the bargain, as Jamaica now has what it wanted in the deal, so let the people build what they want on their land. With whatever construction they do on the land; it is hoped that the environment is taken care of.

    The french started the north south highway. They abondoned the building when they experienced technical problem.
    The chinese came in with a proposal that finished the highway.
    We have a highway which allows us to get to the north coast and other smaller towns from kingston within about 40 minutes.
    We will get a development and income generating area which will provide investment opportunities and jobs. And we will get a highway after 50 years.
    All of this must be had without damage to our environment. It is for any party government to protect Jamaica.
    I think the chinese deal was good for jamaica.
