Chinese Masi

  • The Chinese and Japanese call this Mochi. Masi is the Filipino term for mochi. Mochi is a cooked dough made with glutinous rice. There are many kinds of mochi. Tikoy is a variation of mochi. In an earlier tutorial, I showed you how to make the Cebu Masi. The ingredients maybe similar or almost the same but they have very different textures and character. The Chinese masi is very soft and sticky compared to the Cebu Masi. This is something that I would recommend that you try making when you have the extra time. They are tedious to make but easy to pop in the mouth to eat. Enjoy!

    If you intend to microwave the masi instead of steaming, please use microwavable containers. DO NOT use metal containers.
