More than anything else, Tony was a humble and patient guy. I think this is why guys like him and Kawaii are true and great defenders. They aren’t looking for the highlight plays for a good mixtape, they are persistent with every field play and are trying to contest every single shot they could. You don’t often come across this kind of patience in the athletic world.

Without watching I would have guessed Tony Allen. He made him work like hell in 2011, 2013 and 2014. 2000's Bruce Bowen and 2010's Tony Allen were the best perimeter defenders in the league. Also shoutout to Ron Artest and Tayshaun Prince who were special with their unique body types.

There should be a stat that tracks on ball defense, because there are so many amazing on ball defenders that don’t get any accolades because there is not really a way to track it other than blocks and steals. Tony Allen played 14 seasons and only has 6 all defense awards which is good but i mean if 2 of the best one on one players of all time say that you’re the best one on one defender they’ve ever played then you deserve more recognition.

Kobe made first team All NBA, First Team All defense his entire career except when he tore his achilles in 2012. I know people know him for his offense but he locked down other great shooting guards. Just search Kobe Lockdown defense and you will see.

Not Russ tho? Like I get they had beef but I mean russel was your partner since day 1 and they were one of the best duos in the nba at the time. So the fact that he didn’t say Russ got me mad and confused. Still hell of a lot of respect for KD though.
